Customer Reviews

Easy Install at a Fair PriceSimple to install, works as expected, and doesn't leak. Time will tell how it holds up, however repairs and maintenance should be very easy. Biggest drawback is the swivel spout connection which is rather cheap and poorly designed; it loosens itself with movement, and it cannot be over-tightened because that will then inhibit spout movement. Nevertheless, this is a decent faucet that was better than the uglier and junkier items readily available at the big box stores. 4Great Laundry Faucet ReplacementAs you can see from the picture I'm not a plumber, but this faucet was a perfect replacement for the old corroded one that was there. While my pipe-sweating skills are a bit sloppy, I had no leaks in either the solder joints or the faucet parts. I would say that this is a very good quality replacement part, and at a reasonable price. 5Full turn knobs limit installation optionsI bought this to use with the basement utility sink. The unit it is replacing is attached to the porcelain sink in the same manner but this one will not install in the same place because the valves are full turn valve and the knobs included with the faucet swing past the area where the porcelain sink is. I'm trying to find a smaller knob that won't hit the tub and I am not having luck; it needs something 2" in diameter or less so as not to hit the porcelain. I may have to return it. I do not understand why they supply the long paddle shaped knobs that are causing this conflict; the only way it could be mounted is with the separately sold block attached somehow up off the sink, which should be included as this piece is not useable without it as sold. If you are wondering how this mounts, there is a third leg in back that you cannot see in the product photo which is tapped for an included set screw. 2Nice quality replacement for original laundry faucet...The laundry faucet in our basement is the original from 27 years ago. We have our own well so the water is fairly hard. My wife has lived with the corroded and hard to turn faucet handles for several years so I decided it was time to swap out the brass faucet and the hot and cold boiler drains. To modernize the setup a bit more I decided on installing shut-off valves on the supply lines to turn off the water. Because the space between the supply lines and the basement walls is only a few inches I purchased the Ridgid Model 104 close quarters pipe cutter, it worked great. After installing two 3/4" Watts brass (push to connect) ball shut-off valves I was able to turn the water back on to the rest of the house. Now I had time to decide what I needed to complete the job. Yes, I know I have a slow thought process. After visiting a couple of big box stores I realized the Central Brass 0465 model was the closest in size and quality to what I needed so I ordered it on Amazon.I had decided early in my planning that I wanted this to be a solder-less job so I purchased SharkBite 1/2" x 1/2" MNPT (U120) male adapters to connect the 1/2" copper supply lines to the faucet. I also purchased 2 NIBCO 1/2" boiler drain valves (U74) to replace the corroded faucets to the washing machine. I used teflon tape on the connections that required it with no leaks. My wife was quite pleased with the end results. An added benefit - the Watts shut-off valves provide an easy way to turn off the water to the washer when we go on vacation. Before and after photos included. 5Hard to find item found! So I was installing this as new buildout to my laundry room in my basement. When running the new copper piping from the existing ceiling pipes, this faucet worked really well and provided that rustic look and feel that lasts forever. My parents have an older house that has the same exact one and its been in use for over 50 years now. After checking several big box hardware stores out there (Orange and Blue) I was able to find a similar version that was $40. Upon attempting to install those each of them leaked terribly and was basically made in china crap. I decided to pony-up the extra bucks and got this faucet and it's simply excellent! The company I purchased it from is Central Brass and they specialize in these faucets that are of high quality. I would highly recommend this for your laundry room as either a replacement of an existing one or a new buildout like I have done. 5Great replacement laundry tub faucet value!I used this to replace an old (50 yr +) Central brand faucet on my laundry tub. Fit in place exactly, while using the top half of the existing union, to avoid having to solder the new union on. The old union was slightly different and didn't require the rubber washer included with the new union (optional, according to other reviews and not existing on the old union). I didn't use the single rear screw mount on the faucet, because it was not reachable in my installation, but instead, made two copper straps to go aound the front fingers shown in the picture. Looks like it might last another 50 years! 5LeaksInstalled this to replace a very similar faucet on my laundry sink. Installed as per instructions and both threaded inlet fittings leak slowly. The washers don t seal and no amount of torque will stop the leak. Ended up sealing the washers with blue RTV rather than return it, and it works fine now. 1Well built hard to maintain temp. This is a well built faucet but like other reviews said the hot water slows on its own and for me using as a darkroom sink It makes temperature regulation challenging not sure why it does this doesn t seem to happen on the cold side but it s still a well made utility faucet that has a hose connection on it. Maybe a plumber out there may know why or how to stop that but it s good I guess if you don t want to waste hot water. I have included a video that shows how it slows on the hot side if it didn t so that I would give it 5 stars. 4Very good qualityI had the cheap LDR valve also on Amazon. I am so happy with this new central valve. I was a buyer for a small motorcycle manufacturer here in Milwaukee and I know quality. Just in weight, this Central beats the LDR by many miles. A three year old could take my old LDR valve and throw a 90 yard Rogers Hail Mary with it. This Central is solid and heavy. It also meters so much better than that old leaky LDR, fom a trickle to full flow this valve performs outstanding. I'm a old geezer and rarely leave reveiws, let alone five star ones. My LDR lasted 5 years but because I attached a hose to it to wash my dog, the faucet actually fell off. I tried getting replacement parts from ACE but they told me try the manufacturer. I did and discovered to get a replacement part from LDR requires a act of congress and we know what that takes! The LDR started dripping after one year but the actual faucet blew off last month, not being capable of handling the hose. This Central is a great valve and if you are not a fan of man-scaping, this is your valve. And the design of the faucet itself is solid and has no problem handling the weight or back pressure of the hose, when attached. I'd say I'd buy it again but I doubt I'll ever have to. Ace has these parts. 5Works just fine with Pex and the appropriate transition fittingsOur money-pit's basement came with an enormous concrete utility sink that was served by two hose bibs on the ends of some galvanized pipes. We re-plumbed with pex and needed a simple faucet for this sink. For whatever reason the inlets on this faucet are listed as NPSF instead of NPT. I decided to be a rebel and use NPT threaded fittings and teflon tape. Everything is holding just fine so far.I had a pair of threaded 1/2" NPT brass nipples and a pair of 1/2" FPT x 1/2" PTF Sharkbite brand couplers in our box of random plumbing parts. If I were buying new fittings, I would have bought MPT x PTF Sharkbites.Attaching the faucet to the sink was a little more work. The sink is right against the wall and too heavy to move; the set screw for the faucet's mounting bracket is on the back of the fixture. By removing and swapping the handles and cartridges, I was able to reverse the faucet and allow the temperature handles to turn down towards the user to open the valves.GLOSSARY*NPT: National (American) Pipe Thread or National (American) Pipe Tapered, depending on who is doing the talking. Needs teflon tape or pipe dope to seal the connection.*MPT: Male (National) Pipe Thread, an elliptical abbreviation for male members of the NPT family.*FPT: Female (National) Pipe Thread, an elliptical abbreviation for female members of the NPT family.*NPSF:National Pipe Straight, Fuel. Straight threads instead of tapered like NPT fittings. Intended for fuel.*PTF: Push-to-Fit connection. Colloquially called Sharkbites after the brand. As the name suggests, you push to fit them onto the pipe, and installing them requires no other tools but a cutter for the pipe and your hands. If you are transitioning from Pex pipe to another type of pipe, this is the easiest way to do it. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be used for copper and cpvc pipe as well as pex.*Nipple: a fitting with male threads on both ends.*Coupler: a one-piece fitting that is "female" on both ends. A threaded coupling has a threaded female opening. 5
