Customer Reviews

Huge disappointment This is my third Cuisinart food processor since 1994; I've always relied on my Cuisinarts for a wide range of uses (I am a former caterer), couldn't imagine cooking without one, and I was really excited to get a new model. I am incredibly disappointed, and have decided to throw this inferior product away. Every time I use it, at least 1/3 cup of any mixture remains lodged beneath the blade, and only ingredients around the outer edge are adequately mixed, so that I end up pouring out the contents and stirring them by hand. The latches of the redesigned lid are impossible to clean, no matter what tool I try, so that residual food remains and makes this appliance dangerously unhygienic. It's too late for a refund, so I will look for another food processor maker; done with Cuisinart! 1I don't know how I ever got anything done with my old one. I just upgraded to this from a cheap (if you call $80 cheap) B&D model. I watched a lot of video reviews on this and they were right on the mark. This unit is top notch. It does everything it's designed to do beautifully. It's so quiet, you can use it while the whole house is asleep without waking a soul. You can whip up dough for two pizzas or a double crust pie without even the tiniest whiff of flour escaping. 5Total waste of dough. After years of reliable service, I had to replace my KitchenAid food processor because I could not find replacement parts. So I took the recommendation of ATK and bought the Cuisinart 14-cup processor. I use the machine mostly for pizza dough. The Cuisinart just cannot handle the same pizza dough recipe that the KitchenAid breezed through consistently year after year. The Cuisinart's blade comes off during the process. Very disappointed---not only with Cuisinart, but with ATK for their recommendation. I have other Cuisinart products, and they have performed admirably. I would have given this product a zero stars rating had it been possible. 1cuisinart does not support this product! Great when it works, but I haven't been able to use mine in months. The motor doesn't break but the plastic does, and when you ask for a replacement part, you wait forever for the thing to arrive. In my case, when it did arrive, it was the wrong part, and when I asked them to replace the replacement, I got shuttled around from one operator to another. After 5 (that's five) calls over 3+ weeks, the part showed up, but it's the same wrong one they sent me the first time. While all this is going on, you have an expensive machine sitting on your counter that you can't use. Not worth it. 1the machine is very good. It's quiet Firstly, the machine is very good. It's quiet, has a lot of available accessories and it powerful. Now for the bad stuff, the "Motorshaft housing" - the spindle piece - breaks pretty easily. My machine is only 8 months old and I've cracked two of these spindles. The first was repaired under warranty although it took several weeks. The second time I called and ordered the spindle so I could repair it myself (I didn't want to wait several weeks). The repair center said there were none left in the entire country and they were waiting for a delivery (seems they need to repair quite a few of these). The part arrived after 3 weeks and is one of the most difficult repairs I have ever had to do (I'm pretty handy and repair most things). Removing the spindle is incredibly difficult. I will avoid this machine in the future.Very disappointed in the build quality. 2This was a great disappointment. It took a ridiculous amount of time ... This was a great disappointment. It took a ridiculous amount of time to snap the bowl onto the base - despite numerous attempts. Also ,should you want to chop/shred anything, you have to attach a tube like device to the underside of the blade. This is another waste of time. We have a Cuisinart food processor that is 27 yrs. old. The only thing wrong with it is that the plastic parts (the bowl /feed tube) are developing hair line cracks. The bowl has always snapped easily and securely in place; the chopper/shredder blades come with a tube attached... which makes much greater sense It is almost as if someone who never used one of these machines, designed these new additions to the current version of Cuisinart..I'm returning it and will look for another brand. 1Efficient & Enjoyable Food Processor I just received this machine as a gift about a week ago. It is has already been put to good use in my home kitchen! Today alone I diced mushrooms & onions, shredded cheese, and sliced strawberries, apples, & tomatoes. They were all done beautifully without damaging the food in process. This gave perfectly shredded cheese, beautifully sliced fruits & vegetables, and the mushrooms & onions were diced just right for my homemade "cream of soup". I am surprised at the speed at which it processes and still has smooth clean cuts without mashing the food. It is also very quiet! The bowl was large enough to hold the whole 2 lb block of shredded cheese. The 2 openings, large & small, were both used today. Having the smaller feed tube, I was able to stack my strawberries in and keep them from tumbling around which helped provide more uniform slices. Having the larger, I was able to cut my 2 lb block of cheese into 4ths and have the entire block shredded in no time. The larger would not hold my whole tomato set in right side up, but I was able to turn my tomatoes sideways and get beautiful slices anyway.I did take some pictures/video along the way to show processes and comparisons on the different blade thicknesses. I did purchase some extra discs alongside my gift that included the thin slicing blade as well as the thick. I used the shredding disc & slicing disc that came with the machine for the cheese & tomatoes. I cut the strawberries with all three just to show a comparison and so others could see how it would slice if they were considering purchase of another thickness.I included the strawberry slicing short video just so you could see how quickly it diced and compare it to the end product. Left to right in the strawberry photo the strawberries are sliced with a thin (2mm), medium (4mm), thick (8mm) disc - the middle one (4mm) is the one that comes standard with the machine.I am finding this machine easy to handle and a joy to have in my kitchen. It's easy to operate. I now have a feel for how to insert & change the discs, so it really has been an simple yet very efficient machine. I highly recommend. 5Learning curve to get it to work!! Hang in there. Still getting used to it. So much more powerful than my last one (KitchenAid). Super fast!!Larger hopper both good and bad: good for half a large onion, multiple pieces of veggies at once, hunks of cheese.Less lovely is the problem of a food which does not fill the hopper and tends to fall over, and slices at wierd angles. I like the small inner chamber for carrots. Wish the hopper were taller, since the safety mechanism requires it to be closed and the safety bar engaged for chopper to work. My old KA allowed me to hand feed the food until the hopper plug would fit.Have owned about two weeks, and have already used for pasta primavera (sliced an entire meal worth of veggies in seconds), salsa, mocha mix, cheese, both shredded and grated, thin and thick sliced meat. All were satisfactory, and very fast.Wish also that the inner core where a little taller, allowing a larger volume of liquid ingredients.I m embarrassed to admit that it took me (and daughter, who already has a Cuisinart food processor) half an hour to figure out how to put it together. Instructions not clear, and the video online was not particularly helpful. I was kinda misled by the way my old KA went together. The parts need to be assembled exactly correctly to work, and they also fit together wrong, but then the top won t engage properly. Also it would be immensely better (in my opinion), if the hopper were in front, instead of the back. 4This food processor does nothing the ad said it would do. This machine is deplorably designed. The video attached to the ad says it can handle bread and other stiff doughs. That is false advertising. My first use was today and I tried to make one loaf of bread. The dough went up under the blade, down the cylinder, and all over the base the mixing bowl is locked onto. The machine was hot. It cooked the dough under the blade so that it looked like a noodle and packed so tightly it s impossible to remove by any method I could think of. 1Sharp Blades; Quality Motor; Some Trial and Error Necessary I bought this processor primarily to ground my own beef from different cuts of steak, and it works marvelously for that job. I have also used it to make mustard.Warning: the plastic bowl easily scratches and stains. There is practically no way to avoid this as anything hard that you try to process is going to grind on the side of the bowl somewhat. Also, I did notice that when I was making the mustard, a good amount of the mix initially splashed up through the seal of the lid. The liquid part of the mustard was well below the recommended line and yet it still made an uncontrollable spill down the sides of the bowl. The processor boasts a 14-cup size, but I can't think of many food items that it would be able to handle all 14 cups without making some sort of mess.Lastly, I did also try to cut some parmigiano reggiano cheese, and it was unable to handle that. Not sure what the problem was, but the manual only warns against cutting cheeses that are too soft. It is one of the hardest cheeses on the market, so I guess there is that, but I would have expected it would be able to handle it better. Instead, the cheese slice that I put in was violently tossed around until it became stuck and started to harm the motor. I used the cheese shredding blade for that, which is exactly what I would expect to work. Some trial and error is expected to be had with this machine. There may yet be a way to cut that Parmesan with it, but I haven't discovered it yet. 4
