I checked it out when it arrived before wrapping it for her. I really hated to give it away it was that nice. I have a cookbook holder but not nearly as nice as this one. I especially liked the fact that it holds skinny cookbooks and large wide cookbooks also. My cousin has many printed recipes kept in a 3-ring binder which fits well in this holder. The acrylic shield is large and protects well. I just might give away my cookbook holder and buy one of these for myself. Oh, both she and I have "chef's dream kitchens" (very lucky us) and this cookbook holder fits right in. Not chintzy at all. 5This is a beautiful and functional book holder This is a beautiful and functional book holder.Pros:*Size is large, doesn't block the recipe.*It's expandable to fit larger books or change the angle of the book to avoid glare from the overhead lights.*Collapses for storage*Acrylic shield easy to clean and protects the bookCons:*It has a very strong odor (I've had for about a week and it is still there. Not sure if it is the stain or the acrylic)*The wood is not like smooth polished furniture. It is dry and rough and seems like it was made with redwood fence material. It does say to oil with mineral or cooking oil when dry, so I will try that. That is the only thing I don't love, and for this price I would expect a polished/ sanded furniture grade product.So, I will keep for now and try to oil. Otherwise, I will be sending back. 4Best cookbook stand EVER!! Outstanding. At one point today I had a cookbook, a printout of a recipe and my iPad showing me another recipe all at the same time behind the clear shield. It will pretty much hold anything you put on it. I love that you can reposition the back for optimal viewing, no matter if it's holding a single sheet of paper or an iPad. Yes, it's more costly than other stands but you get what you pay for. I couldn't be happier with this product. I look forward to using it for years to come. 5Nice Quality Product I went to a friend's house for dinner and she happened to have this displayed on her counter. I had one years ago from another manufacturer, but ended up throwing it away because it didn't work with larger, more heavier cookbooks. When I saw this, I ordered it right away. It's a very well made, quality product. I've tried it with my largest cookbooks, and it holds them beautifully. I highly recommend! 5Exactly as described. Excellent quality wood and well made hinges. It came exactly as described. The clear plastic front is perfect and it came with detailed cleaning instructions that also tell you how to fix scratches. I have a lot of large cookbooks and this holds them very well. It folds flat and can be stored on a shelf but it also can rest on the counter. The quality of the wood and its hinges is great. I would purchase it again if I knew anyone else that needed one.The only problem I have had is one cookbook had a strong spine that would close the pages lying flat on a table. I had to break it in but after that it worked the same as all the others. The plastic front folds all the way back and all the way forward for easy page turning. 5Bible pages? This came in today and right away I put my Bible on it. Took me a few minutes to figure out how it works. I am sure it is great for cookbooks and it is made really nice. My problem is using my Bible with very thin pages is that it won't stay flat so that reading the pages in the middle is hard to do. I will be looking for some kind of clips to hold the pages open. 5It works fine but in hindsight I shouldn't have purchased it It works but based on reviews I expected more. It's VERY expensive IMO and I do like the portability of it folding up but you really have to get used to the fact that the front is hinged and falls over smashing your counter if you aren't careful inserting a book.I regret few purchases but at this point I don't think this is good value but if I change my mind I will update my review. 3Do you cook? You need this. I took this cookbook stand out of the box and I honestly could not figure it out for a moment--it's NOTHING like cookbook stands you've seen or used before. Then it made sense and I plunked my fattest cookbook into it and propped it on the counter. There was a moment of sparkling epiphany wherein I asked myself how I've been cooking all these years without this stand. No more grease or sauce splatters will appear on my cookbook pages (or glue pages irredeemably together). No longer will my books plummet from the back of the countertop into the next room.One of the best features of this stand is its adjustability. It fits AND COVERS THE PAGES OF my largest cookbooks as well as my smallest. I am an avid meal-planner and cook from 2-3 cookbooks each week. With this stand, I'm able to stack the 2-3 books I'll be cooking from all week and reference them easily. I also frequently cook from my phone and/or tablet; this stand also holds them upright for me and protects their screens! 5One of my favorite things that I own One of my favorite things that I own! I have this on my kitchen island at all times. When there is no book in it, you can see right through it so it doesn't clutter the space visually. It is very sturdy and looks great. It's great for large and small cookbooks and for recipes that I just print right from the internet. Can even use it to protect a phone or tablet if that's easier than printing out recipes. The back piece of acrylic is adjustable into many slots so you can fit a number of books in there if you want. The front flips down on hinges making it very easy to turn the page even with one hand. I really love the design of this, and so glad to have the large size. I used to have a cheap wire holder that often collapsed, and my cookbooks have often been splattered with food. I was very hesitant to spend the money (this counted as my big Christmas present!), but it was money very well spent. This really protects my investment in my cookbooks, too. I would highly recommend this cookbook holder. 5
