Excellent product
First off, realize this is NOT a space saving product. I was aware of this but when I set it up in my pantry, it did take up a lot of space and I questioned if I really wanted to give up the space. My answer quickly was, YES. Now, I can see everything I have so I won't buy duplicates or I can quickly scan the shelves to see what I do need. When I first took it out of the box, I honestly thought it was used. It looked like it had scratch marks on it and shallow gouges that you can only really see at an angle under the light. The edges are rough like they just made the cut from the saw and boxed it. I bought 2 of these and both were the same, so I'm not sure why they look roughed up. However, they were in perfect working condition meaning no cracks, no warped edges or bowing. The material is very sturdy and thick (I think it's PVC material) so I know it will withstand a lot of weight without fear of breaking.I used these in my pantry on wire shelves. I expanded it as far as it would go before the pieces separated. (They are 2 separate pieces, one slides over the other). Another reviewer mentioned that the cans slip around because there is no non-skid lining on the shelves. To anticipate this, I bought some non-skid paper from Home Depot but I did not need it after all. The surface is smooth but not slippery and I have not had any problems.Check out the 2 pictures I posted. Overall, I think it is a great product and would recommend it to anyone. I also received it in 4 days and the price was reasonable at $13.28 each.
5WOW!
I was surprised by how good this looks in my client's pantry. I was so happy that I could find this shelf perfect for all of their canned goods. I will definitely be purchasing more of these in the future! The plastic is on the thicker side and the fact that you can adjust it to your preferred size is a plus!
5Fast shipping and a great product.
I have 100+ bottles of spices and herbs, etc. and storing them while being able to find what I was looking for, too, was presenting a problem. I searched all over and finally found this product. I ordered 2 units for the bottom shelf of my cupboard. They barely fit in my new cupboards depth and width-wise and I am not able to expand the shelves, which would increase their storage capacity, but that minor inconvenience is worth it because each level of the stadium-type shelving is deep enough to easily accommodate 2 spice bottles front and back (I have McCormick, Spice Islands, Trader Joe's and Safeway Organics brands), up to 16 bottles per level. That's 48 bottles per unit in the un-expanded form that I use them in (see the user photo that I uploaded).
5Not as described
I ordered the standard size which states "Expand-a-shelf original" on the box. The description states the depth of the two lower shelves are 2.94" but they are less than 2.5, which makes a difference for bigger cans/bottles. I also note that on the box I rec'd, this item is available in "mega" size which claims the shelves are 4" deep. Would have ordered that one, but it states the "mega" size is 2.38 deep
2Heavy Duty
I wanted a tiered shelf for my pantry, but most of the ones I could find were smaller, usually made for storing spices. I needed a larger, more durable one for cans, jars, and other heavier products. This shelf definitely does the trick. Each step is very tall, so I can have four rows of clearly visible easy-to-find canned goods. It expands width-wise, or you can separate it to have two individual tiered shelves. Highly recommend. It is very large and bulky, though, so it may or may not work in a cabinet, but it definitely works in a pantry or closet. Check the measurements carefully before you buy, this shelf is much larger than other step shelves that are available.
5Four Stars
Works well, but didn't fit in the cupboard that I needed it for. Guess my cupboards are small.
4Great for what I need
Great for what I need. Doesn't sit completely flat though unless you have heavy stuff on it like oils. Spices wont do it. But that's really the only complaint. Easy to set up, easy to clean.
4Useful for crafts supplies ...
I'm using this in my crafts area to hold small jars of buttons (Bormioli Rocco Quattro Stagioni 5 Ounce Canning Jar, Set of 12), and they fit perfectly on this shelf unit. It doesn't take up a lot of space in my shelving unit, and I can easily see the colors of the buttons. It seems sturdy, too.I haven't "expanded" it at all, so as I add more jars of bits and bobs, there will be plenty of space for them. The depth of each "shelf" is perfect -- a little deeper than similar units.Very happy with this.
5Ok
I bought this 2 parts plastic shelf to tidy my pantry, but it is even more messy than before. The shelf is not stable, but the plastic itself is very thick. There should be like a reinforcement in the middle to make it less flimsy. Color is white, but can be eaqsily cleaned with a magic sponge. I took the medium size and it could be great for alcohol bottles in a bar if the center was not so weak. Not interesting even for Cans. I keep it anyway now. Not recommended.
3I liked it at first,,,
These were/are nice for my shelves and I really like the height that they give for my pantry and cabinets. BUT, they also start to sag in the middle. We have normal cans sitting on these expanders, nothing very heavy, but the center started to sag so much, I had to take duck tape to them and help shore them up from above and below to keep them in use.UPDATE: about a year later - the sagging has gotten so bad that my cans now have a distinct downslope. Unless there is a way to shore up the bottom from UNDERNEATH - I would pass on these given the choice. Honestly you could probably find a handy different way to prop cans up in the pantry, maybe even plastic shoe boxes, stacked up -- IDK - I'm grasping at thoughts for what to use, but I certainly would not buy these for heavy canned items in a pantry for sure!
