    never did work and company never would reply to my communications i specifically ordered a 'made in the USA' product from a smaller business that focuses on these products. i read reviews online. mine arrived. it never would work. i sent a message to the manufacturer twice about it - they never even replied back. i will never buy a product made by this company again. the cheap disposable pepper mills that are already filled at walmart work and are cheap. wow.... 1Love it. Some complained about the small amount of ... Love it. Some complained about the small amount of peppercorns it can hold. I find this not a problem. It is not obvious why the manufacturer could not make the container much much larger. There is lots of room, but I guess that is the way they want it. 5stopped working after 4 months messy counters! They seem well made and they grind a lot with every twist, which I like but the counter is a mess wherever I put them. The reason I was shopping for new grinders was to have less counter mess. I didn't find any quality grinders that grind from the top, so I thought I'd try these, expecting less droppings with a product that seems well made. Also, I ordered two, one for salt and one for pepper. Only one came labeled with an "s". I'm not sure if both were supposed to have a label, or neither which just seems a little sloppy.UPDATE. after 4 months, this salt grinder stopped working. 3Lives up to the impressive hype on review sites Chef's Illustrated and the sweethome have this as their top or shared top grinder, and it lived up to the hype. Very nice form as well, though the painted versions seem like they will eventually chip from the top and bottom edges of each piece. Ancho is a little more blah as a color than the pictures would indicate. 5Very disappointed- bad product. Poor quality grinder- no matter how much I adjust the screw at top, the grind is very uneven and unacceptable for table use. Annoyed that calling company gets one to voice mail- not to a person. All the good professional reviews I do not understand. 1Beautiful Mill, 2 Drawbacks This is a gorgeous mill. Feels like true quality and the grind mechanism provides a fantastically consistent grind.The only two drawbacks for me were: surprisingly small pepper chamber. Really small, considering the size of the grinder. Not a deal breaker, but puzzling.The actual deal breaker: Too uncomfortable to hold and use with small hands. My friend thought it was wonderful, but she has larger hands than I.I ended up returning it and getting a different style mill from the same company. 3Love this mill Love this mill. The flow is adjustable and it is easy to use and fill. The design is aesthetically pleasing and it presents as a well-made quality product. Made in the USA. It is big enough to hold quite a bit of salt. The grinder really puts out salt with each turn, but can be adjusted in volume. The capacity is a bit small but we use a lot of pepper and the grinding action is so much better than our old one. 5I am completely delighted in this pepper grinder I am completely delighted in this pepper grinder. The weight is perfect - not so heavy I feel uncomfortable going sizeable amounts of grinding, not so light it feels cheap. The color is gorgeous, and you can really see the wood grains. The screw on the top does click into each position, so when refilling, you really just have to count how many clicks for your desired size grind, I have no problem with this.I'm also very pleased that this grinder doesn't leave the dreaded "fairy ring" of pepper when you set it down. The grinding gears are tight enough that one solid shake against your hand when you're doing grinding is enough to clear the looser powder from the mechanism, and I don't find pepper on my counters afterwards.Excellent design!My only complaint is how easy it was to overfill, as I wasn't able to readily see any kind of max-fill line in the grinder. Underfilling a little and doing it more frequently is definitely worth it, and not enough for me to dock a star. 5USA Quality Product and Aesthetically Beautiful Love this pepper mill! Aesthetically pleasing, good size, made in the USA, and does a GREAT job dependably and reliably. They are easy to fill and adjust. If there are any questions about using the mill there are videos on YouTube that explain everything you need to know. I have been through several mills before I found this one. I believe that this will work for many years to come. I love it so much I bought a salt mill too. They bring me pleasure to look at them. There is nothing skimpy or cost-cutting about them, this is a great quality product. I love that they are made of wood and metal. 5
