Long term unreliability problems. I've had several of these, five or six, over the last eight years, installed on two separate espresso machines. The machines are lightly used at home being powered on no more than an hour per day. None have lasted more than three years, and some have crapped out after barely two years. I would change out to some other system, but I went all in on Flojet and used them in custom installations in custom built cabinetry and to replace them would involve rebuilding cabinets and counter tops. This particular one last just 3 weeks before it started pulsing continually when turned on, even though there was no draw on the pump or call for water. At least I could return this one for a replacement, which, knock on wood, is still working after a month. Woo-hoo! There are not a lot of other systems out there, but I would look around and find something else if I had it to do over again. As a side note, the company has finally made just the wand that goes in the bottle available. That seems to be the part that fails (the magnetic shut off float switch on the end). So now I only have to spend $40-50 to fix it rather than throw out the pump too and buy an all new system. This system has proven to me, over and over again, that it is not be reliable in the long run. 2Great for pumping bottled water to ice maker or tap on sink. I was worried about how this might work with an ice maker. I finally purchased the ice maker freezer through Amazon, review is someplace. You put the long tube down into a 5 gallon water bottle and the connections are all compressions so no other fittings are needed. Once you turn it on, there is great pressure coming out of the 1/4 inch tube. I hooked it up to my ice maker after bleeding the air out first, and it works great. It maintains a 20-30 pound pressure in the line. Where there is no demand, the pump stops. The pump sits on top of the freezer next to the 5 gallon water bottle. This unit is high quality and built well. I am sure it will work for a very long time. 5Not working Product is not working - well let me re-phrase that - it turns on, and it's hooked up correctly, but it won't pump water. I've tried all the suggestions on how to trouble feed and it doesn't suck the water out of the water bottle. The pump turns on but nothing else happens. Not sure if I received a defective product or what happened, but I like the older version better when you don't have to hook all the parts up - they come already connected. I would not buy this again. Now I have to see if i can find one that does work. 1Great little pump for the home. Works great! Installed in my basement and ran to my kitchen sink. Will be running another line to our ice maker in the future. This pump is perfect for the install I have. 5Works as advertised, but pressure is too low for a sink faucet This product works as advertised. I set it up for an outdoor kitchen and was hoping to have a self-contained sink with bottled water source. It works, but the faucet output is not much more than a dribble. Like most other reviews, this pump is good for ice makers and coffee makers.Pros: very quiet operation. Pump only operates when pressure is needed. The pump unit is relatively small and the 1/4" hose has plenty of length to reach appliances. Set up is very simple and fast.Cons: light duty water pressure. Also, the water stem is very tall - built for a 5 gal bottle and cannot be shortened. As such you need ~24" of interior cabinet clearance if you are storing this out of sight. 4Better than my previous model, that lasted 12 yrs. Its quiter.Easier to use. I use this to clean/flush my ionizer machine.The old one, after about 45 min. would overheat,so you had to be around to watch it, and reset,once it cooled down,this was an old machine, the 1,000 series. This one keeps running straight through f 2 hrs, no overheating. I usually run vinegar, through machine to clean hard water deposits that can ruin the expensive machine.Very happy, should have done,yrs ago. Husband even happier 5The best yet! I'm in the coffee business and I've been buying flojets for many years. This new model is by far the best yet. The wand that goes in the bottle is now detachable from the motor. If for some reason it breaks you can just replace the wand. On the older 1000 series if you broke the wand you had to buy a whole new flojet. The power cord is also quite a bit longer than the old model which helps with placement.UpdateThese are still working great. Have been turned on and in use since December 2016. Just here because I need another one! 5Great for making ice cubes in the garage fridge We have a second fridge in the garage mostly for stocking beverages and frozen food. There is no water hook up in the garage to use the ice maker and water spout that the fridge came with, but we are regularly get the 5 gal Poland Spring water bottles delivered to our house. This Flojet pump allows you to use the 5 gal bottles to feed the ice maker and water chiller in our fridge. It is easy to hook up and comes with everything you need. The pump only powers up on demand, i.e. if you use ice cubes and fridge is starting to make more ice. Since it is in the garage, I don't really care about the sound, but I also don't find it overly loud - however, as short as it runs, you definitely will hear the pump working.The other nice thing about this setup is that the ice cubes are made out of spring water, so you don't mind at all having them in your drinks. I filter the tap water that feeds our fridge in the kitchen, but would love to use spring water there, too. Changing water bottles is also easy with the provided tube and bottle cap, that you stick into the 5 gal bottles. The on-demand pump and all the accessories seem to be well made and of higher quality than competing products, however I find the price a little high, which is why I knocked off a star. This system should cost in the $60 to $75 range and not the $120 I paid for it. However, I expect this to work for many years without any maintenance, and the cheaper competing products seem to have issues with reliability. 4Chemical smell and taste I would have given this product five stars because it functions as I hoped it would. The problem is that it adds a chemical, plastic like smell and taste to the water. I did not mention my concern to my husband and just waited for his response. He said the water tastes funny after he drank it. We checked the taste of the bottled water to make sure, but the fault is not with the water. If the water turns chemically tasting, by running through the pump system, does that mean chemicals from the product materials are leaching into the water? I saw only two other reviews that mention the taste. One customer said, it still tasted funny 3 months and 65 gallons later. I'm puzzled that I'm only the third person complaining about the taste.If anybody had the same problem and found a solution, please let me know. 1Connected it to fridge, keurig and pet water dish. I connected this system to my fridge, keurig, and pet water dish. I used float valves for the keurig and pet water dish. The unit comes with 20ft of 1/4 inch water line which was nice. The pump itself works great. It is super quiet. I recommend using 4 screws and securing it to a wall, that seems to make it even more quiet and cuts down on vibration. This was a great alternative to getting a whole house water filtration system, just to get filtered water in my fridge. 5Pumps well and is pretty quiet. I use it for pumping out a ... I use it for pumping out a 5 gallon container into my water ionizer machine, really works well for this application. It does not make a good seal over bottle neck, it is held in place by gravity only, but seems to work ok. pipe is not that long but if you have all your stuff close at hand that is not an issue. You need a little handy man experience to cut and fit the piping coming out of the pump and may be get an adapter to fit the output pipe to your chosen delivery device like a faucet or cooler etc. I would recommend this, after a few weeks of searching this was the best option I found. A little more expensive than some but saves on install time and has proven to be reliable. 5
