Customer Reviews

Not up to date with today's industry standards of cat 6ePurchased when having to jack 350+ cat 6e in to Leviton Extreme Jack's and looking at an upcoming project that will involve 18,000 (not a typo) cables, hoping it would speed up production. Granted the RapidJack is rated for cat 6 and cat 5, but I wish the head would be updated to the more common cat 6e standard that is becoming more of the industry norm. The only current combination that the unit works (with cat 6e) is to use a punch down tool to seat the wires in to the terminals (Leviton Extreme) and then use the RapidJack to cut the wires. It is somewhat faster than trying to punch down several times to cut the wires, since it takes only one try with the RapidJack, but the high cost of the unit and that you still waste time with a punch down tool makes it cost and time prohibitive. If working with cat 6e, wait for an updated head, but if working with thinner cat 6 or cat 5, then this is recommended. Sadly this is an example of Fluke not keeping up with the industry momentum.3you can terminate in under a minute using Leviton 61110-xxx keystone jackspro: tool works like a charm on 61110 keystones. cuts all the wires at one time and allows for immediate visual inspection.cons: while sturdy and will last a long time if taken care of.... it's made of plastic. I stepped on one while up on a skyjack and snapped the top assembly bracket. my fault and nothing against the tool but, metal or reinforced plastic might be a better idea. there is no replacement blade set for this item. apparently you do 500 jacks and then just get another one. and lastly, i heard clicking sounds coming from the tool every time I cycled it and it stopped cutting all the wires. I took the 4 screws out of the bottom of the tool and discovered 6 small pieces of cut wire had worked their way into the mechanism. I got them out but found that the tool is lubricated with a Vaseline type substance. after extracting the wires and replacing the lubricant the tool began functioning perfectly and.... no more clicking sound. Hope this helps someone. This really is a GREAT tool and a huge time saver.5Speed and zero hassle. Not yet worked with them other than doing the test connections to see how to use them. 7 connections flawless. What I love is all the hang out wire cut cleanly off with no fuss manually pulling them off.It goes so fast I am now changing pricing to per keystone. Because I will lose money if I do it by the hour with this tool.5Must have tool! If you are terminating a high number of jacks, this tool is worth its weight in gold! Will considerably speed up the cabling of jacks and helps to eliminate bad jack installs. 5Fast, safe and easy, no punch down required. If you have to terminate dozens of jacks that will be surface mounted, get this, do not have todeal with a punch down tool, the test results are even better. Very easy to use, just make sureyou insert the right part number tool or you will have issues.5More effort than a 110 punchdownGuess I m the odd man out in the review section or I can t follow the video instructions. First off, if I have to punch down each twister pair so they don t fall out when I place them in the JackRabbit, why do I need to use this tool? I don t fully untwist the pairs and press them down into the expensive Leviton jacks and then try and get into JackRabbit without one wire coming out. Not easy. Also, the cable when using the device will exit the jack to the left or right only!! I called Leviton support and they said it could come out straight but it doesn t. Bear that in mind if you re making multiple outlet wall plates or using a keystone patch panel. Not to mention this locks you into using the crazy expensive Leviton jacks.Back to CableMattets keystones for me!2Well worth the investment.Bought the JR-LEV-2 punch down for a large retermination project. Bought the extra cutter in case we needed it (didn't need it). The JR-LEV-2 cut our time down by at least 2/3's. Fluke is always "proud" (expensive) of their products, but it was well worth the investment. It was a bid job and we saved mucho time and money.5Cutter is cheap soft metal.Works great, but the cutters are not hardened metal. After doing about half a dozen jacks the cutter are already showing nicks. I can't imagine the they will hold up well if you are terminating a lot of jacks everyday. For lack of quality materials I am taking two stars off. Other than the cutter being cheap the tool works great, much easier than punching each wire down. Good for someone that occasionally replaces jacks.3Speedy connectionsBought this tool because of the Fluke name. Figured they make good stuff so I'd give it a try and I'm glad I did. It does speed up the process of terminating network jacks, but it also makes it a lot easier to terminate wires that are in hard to reach places. Jacks that are under tables or in built-in furniture. As an AV professional, we get these kinds of jacks all the time since we're usually working in finished spaces. The trim on the wires is really nice and clean. I've also used it on some no-name brand jacks from home stores when I needed to do a quick add to a system and didn't have my regular parts. I would think it would work with a number of different brand jacks, as long as they are relatively close to the size and dimensions of the Leviton QuickPort jacks. If you only have to punch down a couple jacks, probably not that big a savings. If you have to trim out an entire office suite, or home, You'll love it.5Great tool to add to your low volt arsenalUsed the fluke punch down for a while and then bumped into this tool and decided to give it a try. Been using this rapid jack tool for a bit now and it has been awesome, cuts termination times by a lot mainly on big projects where every minute counts. Like the fact that they offer tons of adapters for all kinds of different jack brands and types as well, the tool is very light and compact so it fits in my tool bag without taking insane space and you can take it apart to save even more space, only thing is that after a bit of use the joint gets a bit squeaky but nothing a little bit of lubricant won t fix. Do recommend this tool for terminations if you re looking for one.5Saved Time and MoneyEvery one of the guys on my crew has a JackRapid Tool. We've been using them for 2-3 years. We've yet to need to replace any. It's very easy to explain and use. They're great to have veterans or rookies or subcontractors use. Some of our partners were so impressed with how quick our terminations were that we gave them the ones we had and purchased new ones for ourselves. The tool is accurate and quick. It cut our termination time by about 70%. We mainly use Cat5e and Cat6 cable and have had no issues with the tools themselves.5
