Very disappointed. I have used Hawkins cooker for a very ... First got delivered with a missing gasket sealing rubber. Used it with my own ring and tada!!! All the liquid spreads out through the pressure regulator. Very disappointed.I have used Hawkins cooker for a very long time and never had such issue. Will be returning this and get another one from different seller. 1I like the lock down lids Pressure release just kept spewing all over our stove every time the pressure built up.When you lift it off the stove you feel the release latch on the handle want to give wayMaking you think the top will come off with all that pressure. I like the lock down lids,They seem to be safer. 2Perfect Hawkins Cooker If you're Indian, you know you need a cooker and Hawkins is almost always your best bet. Works as you'd expect your Hawkins cooker to work. Quality is impeccable - you could probably hand it down to your children even after using it everyday. This one came with a newer style whistle. Also priced well compared to other Hawkins cookers available online. I purchased the 3.5L type with a widemouth. The widemouth is very convenient to use. Also comes with included gasket.Bottom Line: If you've used a Hawkins cooker, and you want another one and have to buy it from Amazon, this is your best bet. If you don't know what Hawkins pressure cookers are, but you need a pressure cooker, you can buy this and you wont regret it. 51.5 ltr, Single quick cooking machine! I got this to use on my small propane cooker, primarily for truck trips, I like it, it works well for making basic simple camp meals, 3/4 cups of rice and fish (tilapia from the pond) cut in small chunks with broccoli/ cauliflower cooked up in about 3mins. We have a bigger older pressure cooker we use often but its too big an heavy to take on road trips. Mind u its not something you would hook onto your pack for dismounted hikes but for truck camping and making meals in the barn it works great. The manual that comes with it is also impressive, very thorough with parts break down illustrations, detailed illustrated instructions and recipes, its all well articulated not like some of the poorly translated single page made in China instructions (honestly I rarely ever read instructions being a man :) this P cooker is worth if it for sure if you need to cook quickly using minor amounts of fuel. Just for giggles I used it on a rocket stove (solo cooker) yep it worked you have to be careful to balance it correctly and it can be frustrating too add fuel but it will work. Also works on camp white gas stoves and propane for those that are taking care of fundamental readiness preps. I did not experience any of the fouled vent issues and yea the pot changed color who cares its a pot, albeit a well manufactured piece of kit. 4Good cooker, but with some issues The pressure cooker is really well made, as expected from Hawkin's. It is easy to use, as always and easier to clean because of the straightforward design. I am using this cooker for a past month (though I bought is before), and I haven't faced any issues until yesterday. I was cooking the rice as usual with all the precaution in mind, but the safety valve got damaged. I was so surprised that, in only a month of use, It has been broken. I will take a star for that. New safety valve costs about 4 bucks (lowest end). I would say, be prepare with one or two spare valves or give a second thought before buying. I would rather say, go for the electric cooker, which you will get easily @ walmart for about 15 bucks. Save your time and energy.I will update my review in future depends upon how often I need to change the safety valve. 4Cooking for One Hawkins Within the first week I have made perfect penne and Italian sausage and perfect cabbage and keilbasa in it already.... This Pressure Cooker rocks!Nice channel on Youtube with videos : look up.. "Cooking for One Hawkins"Make sure to use a pot holder when touching the handle.. I also purchased an extra valve and gasket for the future... they are made to wear out eventually.. easily replaceable. 4Great pressure cooker for one or two people. I purchased this pressure cooker mostly to cook long grain / wild rice and it works quite well for that purpose, but is suitable for other foods as well. You will need to experiment somewhat with your cooking time since it is a hassle to check the progress of the food as it is cooking, but once you get a method established it works very well. As usual, it is best to read the instructions before use. There is a section that describes treating the inside of the pot with lemon juice to prevent the darkening of it's innards before first use. Also it is important to have enough water and cook at the proper temperature since overcooking could leave you with a mess in the bottom of the pot. I use steel wool or a heavy scouring pad only occasionally to remove any mild internal oxidation. Overall, this pressure cooker is very well built and should provide you with years of use. The handle appears to be Bakelite or similar material and feels very durable. The pressure release valve works well and is relatively easy to clean in the unlikely event it gets dirty. Sometimes I will bring the water to a boil before I close it off and then reduce the heat to about a three or four depending. I try to minimize the "popping" of the valve and shoot for having it just rocking back and forth a bit under pressure. Results will vary depending on the type of stove you have. Due to the shortness of duration it takes to cook food (and for safety reasons) I never leave it unattended. Although, if operated correctly, the most that would likely happen is overcooking or burning your food. All in all, I feel this was a good purchase. 5Mighty little pressure cooker! So happy to find a small pressure cooker. Perfect size for small portions. It works very well, cooks very quickly, but be sure not to fill it above 1/3-1/2 way. Takes some getting use to with inserting the cover but you will get the hang of it. It really feels secure and I am not so worried about it blowing off. 5Easier way of closing with a lid, Insure that the pressure is working or you can blow it up. This was the worst pressure cooker I have ever tried to use. The air vent/pressure release did not work.It was not an easy task to get the lid in the correct way without effort in not touching the contents.Top sealing lids are the only way to fly. AFAICSProbably will buy another different brand like I had before the fire. Threw this one in the recycling container.(;o( 1Awful product. Safety valve goes off every other day I am very unhappy with this product. I have used pressure cooker of the same brand of various sizes for more than 30 yrs and never had any problem. This one is a pain. I bought this to cook my infant's food, but the safety valve goes off every other day, spilling food through the hole of the valve through out the kitchen. Since I bought this cooker I lost count how many times I replaced the safety valve. I won't recommend anybody to buy for this cooker. Your money has better usage than buying one of this. Amazon should come out with an innovative way to put negative stars or may be a thumbs-down for products like this. 1
