You'll get what you pay for I ordered two cases of these for bottling mead. The reviews I read prior to purchase led me to believe they were quality bottles capable of keeping a tight seal, which is vital for any sort of alcoholic beverage storage, lest air get to it and turn it to vinegar. Well, each case arrived with a broken bottle. Two bottles down out of thirty two isn't a huge deal, so that was whatever. However, upon actually usage, it happens that these bottles are terrible for what I was using them for; the swing caps are made from a cheesy plastic, with a seal just as shoddy, as it is a hard plastic, not a rubber seal as advertised. These caps also come off too easily, which gets to be frustrating right quick. Well, I used these bottles to seal about three gallons of mead ( Six months in the making, might I add). I'll say that I now have three gallons of vinegar. These are not quality bottles, and they most certainly do not have an airtight seal. They're advertised as reusable, but the ones I ordered will more than likely end up in my recyclables. 1they seal up tight and kombucha has been brewing fine. My only complaint is that the little metal ... I bought these for kombucha brewing, bottles arrived intact, they seal up tight and kombucha has been brewing fine. My only complaint is that the little metal part that holds the cap sometimes pops off the glass and you have to squeeze it back in. It's easy to fix when it happens, just mildly annoying. 4Love these! These bottles are perfect for secondary fermentation and storing Komobuch! Love them so much I bought more! One of the caps arrived damaged and the seller promptly replaced. I have learned to hold a towel around the top before opening my homemade kombucha once it gets highly carbonated as otherwise it can get on the ceiling :). Bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday, he homebrews and once he opened it on his birthday ( which was after returns are available) he opened the box and had 11 out of the 12 bottles he could use. Overall my boyfriend loves these bottles and how well they seal 4Good for beer bottling The bottles are thick and dark. Good for beer bottling. The caps seal works very well and holds the gases in the bottle, and when opened makes a loud popping sound indicating the seal was perfect. The box is well made and closes perfectly with the caps on the bottles, and blocks out light, making it perfect for storing beer after bottling. The bottles size are small enough to fit in the door compartments of most refrigerators. Each bottle's capacity is about twice that of commercial beer bottles. Making one bottle of beer about the equivalent of two bottles of commercial beers. 5Looks pretty, doesn't hold carbonation. I love the idea of swing top bottles. What's not to love about not having to buy bottle caps when a reusable one is built in? Well, it would be awesome if the caps actually held carbonation.Sad that I have only used these once along side traditional bottles and caps. I carbonated beer in both styles and after four weeks my bottles with traditional caps had perfect carbonation while my swing top bottle had absolutely zero.
