Still on the fence if I want to use this on my watercolor bookmarks for sale and learning but it seems a good product.UPDATE 1/30/19 ....I use these on original, watercolor bookmarks and I m pleased with the results. 5Amazing really, and the colors end up a little ... I purchased this item as I was looking for something to protect watercolor paintings as an alternative to covering with glass and I came upon a mention of this product on the internet. After researching it a little, I decided to give it a try as folks were giving it rave reviews. Sure enough, I gave a test painting a thin coat, let it set over night and then buffed the next day. I then proceeded to spray the tar out of it with a water mister. It was nonplussed. Amazing really, and the colors end up a little more punchy also. I will buy a larger jar of it the next time! 5Perfect for watercolor Easy to use, this wax is perfect for sealing watercolor paintings. I learned what to do by looking at a YouTube video and I took it from there. Tested it out and there was no color smearing and it repelled all water! Such a great alternative to aerosols. 5Great Product! Great Product !!! This grease sealing each layer of paint so that it will not move if you create another layer above.I apply a very thin layer, especially on ink or watercolor. Container volume will serve you for a long time. recommended! 5Dorland's is the stuff that dreams are made of....... Great product! I got this on a recommendation from another artist as I wanted to protect some of my watercolors without glass.. I had bought a cold wax medium from a local craft store that was terrible! It smelled, dried tacky and really gave my bookmark that I was testing a very cloudy look. Terrible stuff! On my friend's recommendation I tried Dorland's. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Just what I was looking for and it brought out the colors of my watercolors with depth and beauty. I can now protect my paintings and will use it on my bookmarks and cards to give a more finished look. 5Love it Great to keep pages from sticking together in art journaling 5It worked! This kept the page of my handmade collage book from sticking together! I tried lots of mediums and varnishes to achieve what this medium does, and none of the others worked. 5Interesting product I saw a number of videos on YouTube in which artists used this to cover their watercolor paintings. Its supposed to protect them from UV radiation and prevent fading. Some YouTubers even said it enhanced the colors of their paintings. Well.....It went on the painting exactly as I thought. Just get a bit out on your clean fingers (I actually used a neoprene glove) and rub it all over your paintings. A little goes pretty far. I can't vouch for the UV protections (thought the painting hasn't faded yet) but it does, somewhat, enhance the colors. It's not a lot, but it did a little. I guess its possible that for other paint, or paper, it could have a larger effect than it had on mine.I have a couple of concerns about using this product like this. The first is that its a wax, and its a soft wax at that. If I put this in a mat, and then it gets too warm, will it melt and ruin the mat? I don't know because it hasn't happened to me yet. The second is how "sticky" will it make the painting. Third, will this wax stay transparent for the lifetime of the paintings. I'd hate for the wax to become cloudy and ruin someones painting.I guess time will tell on those concerns. It is an interesting concept, I'll continue to test for the entire time I have this jar of wax, and will have to evaluate for myself how good it really is then. 4Nice Way to Protect Watercolors I paint watercolor postcards. This paste, when applied over the dry watercolor, does not smear or cause streaking in the paint. It goes on smoothly and dries in an hour or two depending on thickness of application and humidity. It gives a soft kind of eggshell sheen to the finished painting and seems to protect it from humidity and weather. I applied first with a paper towel which worked fine then on the next painting I dug in with my fingers and smeared it on. Very satisfying. When dry, I buffed it a little with a wash cloth. 5I like this even better than Judikins MicroGlaze for sealing the ... I like this even better than Judikins MicroGlaze for sealing the surface of mixed media or watercolor art. The colors pop, and there is no glossy or oily residual. 5
