Strong yet safe for non-stick pansThese tongs are exactly what I was hoping they would be: Safe for my non-stick pans and sturdy/strong enough to handle heavy foods while cooking. Note that the silicone *covers* the metal at the tips; the tips are not entirely, solely made of silicone. That is why they are strong through and through. I have used the large ones to heft 1.3 POUND chicken breasts around in a skillet with absolutely no trouble at all, and the small ones work wonderfully for smaller jobs. They wash up very easily by hand, but are also dishwasher-safe. They close up very tidily to fit into my very small drawer with room to spare. The packaging was neat and professional, and they arrived in a timely manner. (no surprise there, thank you Amazon!)5you are like this I wasn't applying any extra pressure at all, the edge on the inside is just razor sharp he silicone heads do a nice job of gripping and holding food. To be able to turn steaks without puncturing or hotdogs/sausage, my most difficult food, without the slipping and sliding, is a huge relief. The weekend before last I cooked mass quantities of bacon on the grill on my oven broiling pan.The only thing I would do differently is to add a third, longer size so I can use them on the grill more easily. This is a true five star product. 5Improvement over my old tongs!After losing one of my generic stainless tongs camping and bending the lock key on another I chose these to replace them. I went with the silicone coated tips because I just spent a ton of money on a large frying pan with a specialized nonstick surface and wanted to protect my investment. Work well with my stainless and cast iron cookware as well. I love that these tongs have silicone along the sides making them easier to hang onto and prop up on the edge of a pan or bowl without sliding. I also like the round silicone covered lock at the end (my old ones have/had a flat stainless piece which I bent on one). I think the silicone also adds a nice weight to them over plain stainless steel making them easier to control. Clean easily and still looking brand new after a month of constant use.5Love the Size Choice A couple things before I say how wonderful these are:1. The rubber tips have a tendency to come off when I wash them. They go right back on. But still..2. If you pop them into your utensil holder with the round locking mechanism down they can pop open.No they aren't perfect. But for the money they are damn near. I have used them for sauteing and turning meat and all kinds of kitchen needs. They are pretty sturdy...even for turning a roast to brown...and have gone through the dishwasher a few times without any trouble. 4Excellent product at an affordable price! I just used my tongs today and I have to say I am super impressed. They are high quality tongs for an affordable price. The silicone makes it so much easier to use and hold onto. The slide lock works great to hold them together while they re not in use. All of the ones I ve ever used, spring back open. These are great, the tips are firm and the silicone seem to be reinforced to hold the food firmly in place. I've only used the two bigger tongs but i'm sure i'll find a way to use the smallest of the tongs for more delicate items.The lock ring on the top end of the tongs closes them up for a slimmer profile and is great for storage.5Easily cleaned I have had the same set before but these are actually different. The tong plastic can actually be popped off for easy cleaning or soaking. The little O rings help them stay closed or pushed in to open. Not to mention they are actually more non slip then my previous pair. I didn't expect an upgrade but i am pleasantly surprised. These are cheap but quality tongs.
