Customer Reviews

A good-quality Quick Master LinkThis is the first time I've used a quick-release master link, and I've been very pleased with it. Chain cleaning has always been a hassle, but now with this quick link, I can easily and quickly remove the whole chain from the bike, drop it into a plastic bottle with solvent, and shake it up to clean it. After the grit and dirty lube are cleaned off, I remove it from the bottle, rinse it, dry it, put it back on the bike, snap the quick link back together, and it's ready for fresh lube. I will use one on every new chain I install.Although there are special plier-type tools made for releasing these types of links, I have no trouble using just a pair of needle-nose pliers. I squeeze the side plates together, and push the chain by hand and it comes right apart.FYI, I used this on a KMC Z50 chain, which is on a bike with a 7-gear cassette (21-speed 1996 Gary Fisher Wahoo mountain bike). The link runs smoothly and I notice no difference in shifting or any measurable performance compared to the solid chain that was installed previously. 5Work great on KMC and SRAM chainsWork great on KMC and SRAM chains, but have had some issues using these on Shimano chains. I bought these because I heard they work with Shimano chains (since KMC and SRAM both provide a missing link or power link connector), but I have found that it works better on some Shimano chains than others. The chains used were all HG-50 Shimano CN-HG50 6/7/8-Speed Chain and would worked on some easily, but on others it seemed too narrow. It was definitely the chain, and I ended up using a pin to close it, so I don't blame these links.5I add these to every bike I build and or ...I add these to every bike I build and or own. I repair and resell bikes as a hobby and I always add a missing link. It makes chain repair so much easier. I also use these on my touring bike and my mountain bike both which take me places I don't want to get stranded and be unable to repair a chain. I broke a rear derailleur off my mountain bike one time and was able to remove the missing link and reinstall in a shorter position and ride out set up as a single speed. I do carry a spare on my touring bike just in case. 5A quick fix, miles from nowhere! Excellent! My wife and I ride a lot on rails-to-trails bike trails, and they pass through some pretty rural, sparsely populated areas. I can't imagine pushing my bike for 10 or more miles due to a broken chain.Based on other reviews here, I purchased these items as insurance (cheap insurance, at less than $12 for a card of 6) that I wouldn't have to push my bike from the middle of nowhere to the nearest town, in the event of a broken chain. These will definitely be going into my tool bag for future trips! The nicest things I like about them are:1) No tools required to install (you will still need a small chain tool, such as the Park Tool Mini Chain Brute Chain Tool - CT-5 to remove the broken link from your broken chain)2) They are re-usable. Once you do a more permanent repair, you can save it to use again, in the event of another unfortunate chain breakage.I highly recommend these for any bicyclist! 5No buenoSorry folks. These look like garbage. Put one on the day, and just got back from pushing my ebike home after my chain fell off and the link just came apart. Fixing now and the links in the other packs slide open and closed with no effort at all. If recommend that you do not buy this product. 2Poor qualityI was able to assemble the KMC Missing link by pulling it into place with my fingers. Knowing there should have been more effort to make the link assembly, I went to my local bike shop, and bought the identical kMC Missing Link, the product I bought from the bike shop performed properly. 1Great addition to bike kit.Used this KMC Missing link for a chain upgrade I recently put on my road bike. Very easy to install and looks like very good quality for a product made in China. For anyone working on bikes themselves, I would suggest getting the Oumers Universal Bike Chain Tool With Chain Hook, Road and Mountain Bicycle Chain Repair Tool, Bike Chain Splitter Cutter Breaker, Bicycle Remove And Install Chain Breaker Spliter Chain Tool so you can take out or add the links necessary.Use with 6,7, or 8 speed chains with 7.3 mm links. Six pack comes in proliferated package so I can carry them with me on my rides. 5A vital link for easy chain maintenanceA great product - as long as you order the correct width (some "7-speed" chains are 7.3 mm, while others are 7.1 mm). Very useful for allowing a chain to be removed for a thorough periodic cleaning and relubrication (every 500 miles or so). By far the easiest product for removal and reinstallation. They're outliving the chains they're installed on, and hold up well - I haven't broken one yet. A must-have for a good chain setup. 5Installing a chain is easy with this link!My local bike shop tried to persuade me to replace my bicycle chain with a pressed in rivet to connect the 2 ends vs. using a quick link such as this. I'm no expert on bike maintenance or components, but I believe this is the way to go. It took me all of 5 minutes to replace my chain and the advantage I see is in degreasing the chain in the future. Instead of trying to do it on the bike, this quick link will allow me to remove it and better cleaning job. I hear these links can only handle 3 to maybe 4 connect disconnect cycles, but even with that, this pack of 4 will last a year if you clean your chain once a month, I definitely made the right decision. 5PerfectI broke 2 Bell 3 piece master links before I bought this. The 3 piece set was too wide to operate properly with my derailleurs, one pedal cycle in the right derailleur position was enough to bend the lock. With this master link, a good hard pull after you get the parts aligned properly will set and lock this link perfectly. As for removal, I believe my snapring pliers will work fine to squeeze the links back together to unlock. Hard to tell which link is the master.. Smooth shifting, no noticeable dragging. Well pleased5Love it!I recently replaced my standard pin based master link to this quick release link. Love it. Prior to this I would clean my chain while on the bike with a cleaning tool I bought on Amazon. Now I can remove the chain entirely and let it soak in cleaner. I did this when I installed the quick release link and my chain is so much cleaner. Re-lubed it afterwards and shifts improved. I have had a couple of rides since and the link is holding just fine. I removed the chain again to see how easy it was and was able to remove it without any tools, just pushing the link ends together with your hands is all it takes. Being able to remove the chain easily will come in handy for future maintenance. Great purchase. 5Break the chain- Replace the link with thisNeeded to replace a link that I intentionally broke while refurbishing my bike. This Link was perfect to reconnect everything. Packaging has each link separated from the next, it's foolproof. Exactly as described 5
