    couldn't even turn the handle received promptly but was very disappointed as soon as I opened the box and tried a dry run just to see how it worked. I couldn't even turn the handle. It would turn about half of an inch and stop. It made an unnatural scraping squealing noise. In theory this would make a great mill. It has the feet and the wire that removes the food from the bottom but in reality it's a huge waste of money. 0 stars if I could 1Broke on third use Worked fine the first two times we used it to mash blackberries. The third time though, the handle flops around as though the hole is too big and we can't get any pressure on the berries to mash them. I had to use an old potato masher. Really disappointing and a waste of my hard earned money. 1Don't Buy This product does not work very well. I cleaned it thoroughly prior to using and even ran it through my dishwasher just in case, ( I was going to use it to make homemade baby food). When I tried to use it with cooked sweet potatoes, there was a black oily substance leaking from the spring mechanism on the bottom-- very weird and gross!! Needless to say I couldn't return now that I had used it so I practically threw the money and the sweet potatoes into the trash. This item was a HUGE disgusting disappointment. 1Not a good food mill I had a Foley Food Mill for over 40 years, it was perfect, did what I needed it to do. This one was awful. Looks pretty, but was flimsy, I thought the different plates for the bottom would be a plus but they weren't. The smallest of them still let apple skin and seeds go through. I was very unhappy with this product. Have donated it to a local thrift shop. Unfortunately, I used it three times -- trying each time to use a different screen in the bottom, so could not return it. Otherwise I would have. 2It was perfectly fine when I put it away and now broken Bought this mill last year for applesauce, made one huge batch and put it away for the next year. Took it out this year to use it and found a piece that is supposed to be permanently attached is broken off for no reason!! It was perfectly fine when I put it away and now broken. Very disappointed on the quality of this since I grew up using my grandmothers and my mother still uses it today 1It's not a Folley Food Mill I grew up with a Folley food mill in the house and I had one in my own house for at least the past 25 years if not longer. I moved about 1 1/2 years ago and unless it's still in an unpacked box it might have fallen victim to the lost treasure category. I needed to use it for the holiday cranberry applesauce and since I couldn't find it I tried to replace it. I couldn't find a Folley on Amazon so I went with a product that I thought was closest to it.It works much the same but it is much more flimsy in construction. This one is made in China and my sense is that it won't last all that long but until it falls apart it will do. In the meantime, I'm still looking to see if I can find a true Folley. 3Milling for miles A food mill is essential for making applesauce. This food mill proved itself worthy, although taking it apart to clean it proved to be a chore. I'm not sure if it was meant to stay together or not. From my own experience with food mills, if you don't take them apart to clean them, the trapped nasties will contaminate your next food milling festival. It did come apart, and it did get put back together without too much of a strain. 2A piece of junk. Do not waste your money on this food mill. It is cheaply made and does not work properly. I basically use it when I make mashed potatoes. The handle does not turn easily, trying to back up the arm causes it to lock up, and the scraper below the pan does not clear the food well, and sticks when you to to back it up. Invest a few more dollars and buy a quality food mill. 1Sorry for the NOT-SO-GOOD review, but it's true! The hooks are placed in a way that they really don't fit any of my pots properly, then the "grinder" and bottom part with the holes don't come out for proper cleaning, I had avoid this product before, but it showed up in my "browsing" history and didn't pay attention that it was THAT ONE I didn't like in the first place. I bought it, my bad, I'll keep it, but NOT happy with it. 2GARBAGE I used this a total of 3 times. It does not work well. The blade is very shallow and therefore takes forever to mill anything. On the third time using it he upper portion of the mill became very loose and when inspected closely, the pin holding it in place had moved. NOT worth buying. Garbage!!! 1
