Good entery level Pasta Maker So I have been getting into pasta making as of late and decided that I was tired of spending time and energy rolling out dough. So i got this thing and i am overall pretty satisfied with it. It is an "entry level" maker but it still is much better than rolling by hand. The only issue I have with the roller is is you need 3 arms to operate it effectively. One hand to hold the roller tight against the table, one hand to feed the dough into the machine, and one hand to operate the crank. Humans (for the most part) don't have 3 three arms so i had to use two clamps to secure the machine to my table. You can use it without clamps but it is decidedly difficult. It does come with a clamp but it is very small and with my table will not work. 4Easy to use Very easy to use, but securing the clamp is essential as it can easily move. 5Metal shavings in pasta after 2 uses Arrived on time, shiny and new. Wiped off with a towel and ran dough through to clean it out; it made beautiful pasta. The next day, i was so excited to give it a second go. Unfortunately, one dent on the roller blade started giving off thin metal shavings, discoloring the pasta. A second scratch also appeared at this time. Vigorous wiping, cleaning, and re-running the dough just kept producing more and more silver grey shavings on my pasta. Basically unusable; not down to be chomping on metal with my meal. 1... bought this for polymer clay and it does a great job. I bought TWO by mistake and instead of paying the shipping, I'll give the second one as a gift. 5Great time for a few dollars I bought this pasta roller to see if my wife and I would enjoy the art of pasta making before we invested several hundred dollars into a Kitchen Aid attachment, and I'm glad we did. I found it very rewarding to put the effort into making the dough and rolling it out into sheets before cutting it. This machine does all that you would expect a pasta roller / cutter to do. It has a few different thickness settings (9 I believe) as well as an attachment that allows you to cut Fettuccine and Spaghetti.One thing I do wish is that the numbers on the roller dial were more pronounced, but that was easily fixed with a ultra fine point sharpie.I don't think I need that KitchenAid attachment after all. 4this is a great value. The only problem is that the clamp ... Considering the price, this is a great value. The only problem is that the clamp doesn't fit over many countertop edges, but I just supplement with a pipe clamp from my garage, and then it's fine. So far I have only been able to make sheets, wide noodles or thin noodles, but frankly that's all I need. 5Good For a First Artisan Try Good for the price. For the price it is like 5 star, but still a few faults that you would not find in a higher quality machine. It works and does not stick and will cut sheets and linguine and angel hair if thats the word. The only reason it is not 5 star is you cannot submerge it in water with out experiencing some rusting on the interior, not the pasta surfaces. For my first pasta roller this worked well. It does the job. It can be a bit difficult to clean the pasta shaping roller, but can be done once it dries with a little vigor. Shaking it back and forth and using your fingers. I did choose to submerge it completely at one point and experienced rust on the interior of the roller placement. If I had to do it over again I would have purchased one for twice the price at a better quality. If you are pretty sure you have no idea what you want to do or think you will you this once, this is not a bad purchase. 4Ok as a starter pasta machine This is a great and cheap pasta machine if you re thinking on making your own pasta creations, it is easy to use and does an ok job. Some users complain that the numbers on the knob to make the dough thinner don t match the actual wholes. This is true but you don t really need to see the number, just look directly at the wholes and pins and you will figure it out very quickly.Cleaning it is hard. No matter how meticulous you are there will always be leftovers inside the rolls which you will find the next time you make pasta lol, expect to waste a bit of dough on your next try to clean the rolls, you ll see what I mean the second time you make pasta.Overall I like the machine and was a good and cheap way to know that I actually enjoy making pasta to think about investing in a much better quality and bigger pasta machine. 4The first batch of eggless pasta came out perfect. I was surprised at how easy and how ... Works very well. Seems to be built very well. It is heavy for its size. I relate weight to using stronger material. It is very easy to clean, I just use a damp sponge and hold on rollers and cutters and turn crank opposite direction (so it doesn't pull sponge in) while moving sponge across then use dry towel and repeat process to dry. 5Love this machine. I love home made noodles, and using this machine is so much fun and works perfectly. It rolls everything out with perfect thickness on all sides and cuts perfect noodles. I just rolled out 3 batches and cut each one in half to fit my lasagne pan and it turned out great lasagne. 5
