Lasted less than 8 months. Should have listened to the other reviews. I bought this in February and it started leaking in September. First it just started leaking from the bottom of the housing, and I thought it was due to a loose screw, but the screw wouldn't tighten any further. Then it started leaking straight out of the front of the housing... so that every time I want a glass of water, it sprays water all over me. Hilarious, but not when you bought this product expecting it to function properly.I liked this product the first few months I used it. It removed the chlorinated taste from my water and decreased hard water deposits, and the product looked good enough. As other reviewers have noted, it tended to drip from the unfiltered water outlet every time I flipped the switch back (which my previous Pur filter did not do). Regardless of my initial thoughts about this product, I definitely wouldn't recommend it due to the short lifespan. 1Water allowed through filter even when OFF. PIA having to return known defective housingLasted just a few months before it started to leak. The water diverter switch allowed a steady stream water (including very hot water) to flow through the filter even when in the "off" position.Shortest period a Pur filter has ever lasted for me.Even though this is a known defect with this model, I was required to return it to them at my cost to get a replacement. Pur used to be good at replacing filter housings realizing that the money was in the filters but not any more. Now they want the broken/defective ones shipped back at customer's cost. Must be costing them a fortune in hazmat disposal fees while not reducing the replacement orders very much. Some consultant must have got paid a fortune to come up with the bright idea. Want fewer returns/replacements Helen of Troy? Make them better! Your money is in the filters! Be like Gillette and "give away" the handles (housings)! 1Not really any Pro's at all... Unlike all previous Pur faucet filters this one does not have a quick disconnect to get it out of the way when needed, it just screws on and can't even be rotated. How you put it on your faucet is how it stays. After using the filtered water and turning the water off water will dribble out of the filter for up to 30 seconds, another issue I never had with a Pur faucet filter. There's also no vertically mounted filter style, just horizontal filter style meaning it covers up more access to your sink below.To use any bluetooth features the water must be running through the filter wasting filter life and water. After the first use it will tell you to turn the water back on and leave it running so it can install a firmware update. Don't bother. Either the update will fail and brick the entire filter and Amazon will have to send you a new one which is what happened to me the first time or it will just sit there saying please wait do not turn off the water for as long as you're willing to wait. After over 15 gallons went through it and down the drain I gave up and turned it off. This time it didn't brick it but it still asks me every time I use it to update it and this process used 10% of my filter. Also before you can use the app you're required to enter your first name, last name, email, gender, zip code, how many in your household, and birthday. None are optional/can be skipped. To sum up all the features of the app... it tells you how many oz/gallons went through the filter and gives links to where to buy new ones. That's it.In the end I'm going to keep it I guess since it does at least filter the water, but I don't recommend anyone pay for this "premium" faucet mount. Just get one of the basic ones. They all take the same filters. 1Leaks everywhere after a couple of monthsthis product only lasted 2 months, and its leaking in 6 different spots now, streams of water coming out from base of unit, by the handle, other side of base, from the pur filter itself even when I am running "regular" water, dripping everywhere....and of course there is no warranty left on this after 2 months now i am stuck with a leaky Pur Faucet Mount.......not a happy customer! 1Begins to leak after 6-12 months, 3 times now... Cheaply made, can't handle the water pressure after 6-12 months of careful use. I've made sure not to run any hot water or excessive pressure through the unit and it has consistently sprouted leaks three times now. The warranty and support have taken care of replacements but I'm concerned that this has broken so many times now. Perhaps it's just not durable enough to handle water past 6-12 months? 2IT BREAKS QUICKLY, LIGHT DOESN'T FUNCTION AFTER FIRST REPLACEMENTThe reviews saying this filter breaks very quickly are correct. First, as soon as we had to replace the filter once the light stopped working. I looked up installation videos, and nothing I could do would make the light turn green again. I dealt with it, since the water tasted fine but I was pissed.Now its 4 months later and last night it exploded. Water is going everywhere, it seems like some valve broke inside and water is seeping out of every possible crevice. I want a refund, I don't care if its past the return period. This is clearly a huge issue with this filter. 1Had this item 8 months and it just split apart ... Had this item 8 months and it just split apart for no reason so now water flows all over the place. This is only during the 3rd filter change. 1Light Stuck on Yellow & Poor Customer ServiceI've been using Pur filter systems for at least 15 years and have only had 1 problem. At the time, I called Pur and they sent me a replacement without me having to return the unit.I bought a new unit last September because my previous unit had mold on the part that dispenses tap water (it was really gross!). Two months later the light was stuck on yellow after I replaced the filter. I called Pur and they told me to tap 6 times on the little box inside the unit - this reset the light. Last week, the light got stuck again after replacing the filter. I tried tapping on the box every day, but the light remained yellow. I called Pur today, and they at first said I needed to soak the new filter before inserting it (really, what would that do??). Then the rep said I needed to tap 7 times, not 6 (really? 6 worked before). He made me try 2 more times - of course nothing changed. Then, after 30 seconds of silence, I asked what the next step was. He said he was creating an RMA for me and I'd have to return the unit at my expense.Wait a minute - I'm supposed to pay postage to return a defective product, I don't think so! Then he said I could fax the receipt to him and he'd email me a prepaid shipping label. But then I realized I'd have to drink tap water for 2 weeks while waiting for the replacement. So I just decided to buy a new unit and keep my current unit as a backup in case the new unit had a problem.Pur's customer service could use some improvement, to say the least. 3I see wonderful reviews of the item made by this company in ...I see wonderful reviews of the item made by theis company in China. I have had many plastic molds made, and they are not cheap, but it seems that those that created failed to research the pressures developed over time in the housing. For the last 10 years I have used this company's creation replacing them every 3 to 6 months for the last 10 years. Yes, really dumb since I could have bought the top of the line reverse osmosis systems several times over. Yes I have really nasty water heavy in iron which makes the filters shut down after 30 days. This is the last one I will bite the bullet nextime and go for a good RO unit. A hint put p[ants around your sink then the rupture spray will not be wasted ;)I have tried several ways to fix them from marine grade epoxy, it worked for 2 weeks. It does seal leaks on boats underwater but is not very effective on this plastic tube. Large heat shrink tube haha well that was a total failure since it deformed the tube holding the cap and it blew off .All I can say if they, or someone else would machine this from stainless steel I would pay 100 bucks for it as it does work, just not as a poorly designed plastic hunk of junk. I doubt that any plastic would work for an extended time. The plastic industry learned this in the hard way back in the late 80's or early 90's when schedule 40 pipe was used for cold water lines and eventually ruptured. This device deserves the Darwin award for a poor design. Obviously they designed this product to fail. I could take it when Amazon prime had them for 12 or 13 bucks but they are back to 25 bucks now making it a foolish purchase. This is just the opinion of one who has a cupboard full of these units that leak like a colander ;). An edit after tonight when I could not one 4 ounce glass of supposed filtered water IT IS A DAMN ZERO this is nothing more than corporate greed they have had many bad reviews over the years and I have had it with them they got my ;ast contribution to their bottom line. Junk needs to be called out and they have had plenty of time to correct the problems and did not. and thus my confirmation they do not really care about the consumer just selling this poor filter zero zero zero time for a new classification JEFF oh and I use chrome and fire tv work it out 1Indicator light stopped working at 3 months, Customer Service helped me reset itI've had this for only 6 months. I would love to give it 4 or 5 stars, but it isn't working properly.I ordered around Christmas so I would have for the new year (and would be easier to remember it needs to be changed quarterly).It worked really great at first, but when the red indicator light came on 3 months later and I switched in a new cartridge 4/1/17, the light didn't go back to green.I've just now (7/2/17) put in a 2nd new filter cartridge (another 3 months), again let it flush for 5 minutes, and it's still flashing red when I turn it on :-/Since water flowing thru the device is clear, I hope it's just the light that's broken -- and hoping I can get a replacement from seller/manufacturer (I think it's a 2-year warranty..).Will update again later.Update: I called customer service and the lady was very helpful. She said there is a little lever inside the section you put the filter in that sometimes gets stuck. You just have to push it in to reset it so it pops out again. Still working ok and it's now early 2019. 4
