GoodAwesome to bend heavy wire 500kmcm
5Was Helpful, But Not PerfectMy project was to run a 240V, single phase, 200 amp service from the meter pole 160 ft run into a country home. Code required double 4/0 aluminum cable with a 2/0 neutral to keep the voltage loss to less than 3%. The aluminum loss was about 1% over that distance. In the 1st attached pic, you can see the 4/0 cable and neutral from the meter, connected to the top lugs of this feed thru sub panel. I connected these without the tool. At the feed thru lugs I could not get sharp enough bends to bring the 4/0 cable into the house. After several failed attempts to bend the 4/0 wire to fit into the terminals (I did get the 2/0 neutral connected without this tool), I came across this tool and ordered it.Using this tool, I tried to get the 4/0 cable in for almost 2 hours, making bends to custom fit one line into the inside panel but the tool could not make the bends exact nor sharp enough to not put stress on the panel lugs. The stress would physically shift the lugs both out and slightly left or right. So, the tool (and the 4/0 aluminum cable) failed me....or maybe I failed them? Hence the 3 stars.Update: To resolve this specific issue I dropped the conductor size to double 2/0 copper with a 0/0 copper neutral to go from the ext. sub to the internal sub (a short 2 foot run) with negligible (.5 %) voltage loss. I did not need this tool to make any of the bends in that run due to the reduced cable size.
3Expensive for what it is. It appears to have ...Expensive for what it is. It appears to have been machined from a solid piece of aluminum. Considering the machining time to make it I can see why it costs as much as it does. No doubt it'll last a long time.

5SimpleDoes tight quarters bend. Careful with sheathing. Can damage with texture on pins.
5Great tool I love it.This is a must have for large size wire jobs. But I had to wrap tape around the knurled pins or it will cut into the jacket of the wire.
5Great product and service!Great product and service!Except the grooves really wreck the wire coating. They need to smooth those lines out so as not to ruin the wires coating.
