Customer Reviews

Great product! *****Second time buying this product. It s a great product. The only reason I bought a second time is because I forgot a step in the first installation and I didn t want to go back to correct it the first time, so I knew eventually I would have to go back and buy another. 5Does its jobThe item is ok, works as expected. However, there are some minor things that are little less perfect compared to the part it replaced:- The old part had a spring that has been keeping handle completely pulled in, despite of the other mechanism. In my case this doesn't matter, but I can imagine cases where this might matter,- The mounting plate has space for 2 screws, compared to 4 screws on the old one. Also, the old plate was metal, this one is plastic (while feels solid)- The outer cable is less flexible than the previous one. Not the end of the world, but complicates install a little bit. 4Works great for Natuzzi recliner!!We have Natuzzi (Divani & Divani) furniture we purchased when living in Italy a few years back. The pull for the recliner went out about 6 months ago (Thanks to our 2 and 5 yr olds constantly pulling on it!!), we just manually reclined it thinking we would never be able to get it fixed here in the US.Well; 6 months of laying down on the floor to reach up under the recliner to push a metal lever and then get hit in the face by the foot rest started getting REALLY old....so my hubby went online and started researching it...and lo and behold; the piece we needed was right here on Amazon:-)After careful measuring this 40 1/2" D-pull fit PERFECTLY and now we can all enjoy our recliner again:-)Con: the handle sticks a little up, but you can push it down between the seat cushion so it is not so obvious.....And it took 2 hours to install!! But then again; 2 hrs installation VS. 6 months of being hit in the face by a foot-rest = so worth it! 5It's do-able but you need two peopleMy sofa is less than one year old and has these pull cables. When it broke, I called the store and they told me they would have to order it from the manufacturer and it might take up to 8 weeks! I was shocked! Then they also said I should be able to install it myself when It did get to me. Also shocking. I thought they would come and fix it for me. So I decided to see if I could purchase one online and get it faster and I found this one on Amazon. It did come very fast. It is the exact same one that my sofa seems to have. It wasn't easy to install because the sofa arms/fabric are in the way and the space is very narrow, so I have a couple of tips: you need two people--one to push in and hold back the cushion/fabric with their fingers as much as they can so you can have access to the inside sofa arm to screw it in. Remove the old one and then attach it to the bottom portion of the sofa first, then tie a string to the handle and then bring it up into the sofa seat by finding the string and pulling it up through the narrow opening that way...the space you have to work in is very, very narrow. It will be difficult to try to push the handle and cable through it using just your hands/fingers. Use your unbroken cable handle on the other side of your sofa to see exactly how it should be attached underneath. I didn't do that and attached it wrong. Had to turn the sofa back over and re-do it. I should have checked it before trying to attach it and turning the sofa over. It's all set now and works like a charm. 5Exactly what we needed to replace the broken cable on our reclining love seat. Update: Less than 1 year later, cable broke.Exactly what we needed to replace the broken cable on our Catnapper reclining love seat. Less expensive than what the manufacturer wanted for the same product. Highly recommended.Update: May 2016This worked great when it was originally installed. Less than 1 year later, it broke again. Original cable lasted about 3 years. Granted, this is the most used recliner, but I would think it would last more than 1 year. 2an easy replacement part for your recliner.. it works as designed. This is an easy replacement part for your recliner.. it works as designed. They only last for about 2 years, and you have to replace it again, but it does fit and does get your recliner back to a working order. I'm not sure how they could make it better and not break off at the handle after a year or two, but it's better than having the old wires poke you in the tush and hurt your had when it's broken. 4So simple, I was able to do it.It was incredibly easy to replace the factory cable release on my couch. In about 5 minutes, I had removed the old one and put this one in.One comment. I previously replaced a factory cable in my couch by having a serviceman come out. To my recollection, it cost me around $100. At the time, I was unaware of this type of replacement product and the simplicity involved. He mounted the replacement at an angle that seemed more natural than the manufacturer had designed. It was originally mounted at an angle indicative of pulling outward and away from the couch (relative to a sitting position). He mounted the new one at angle which has me pulling more upward and towards me. This puts less strain on the cable and feels more natural. 5Tidbit I learnedThis is exactly as ordered, but there really should be something noted that the pull cord is 40 1/2" long...not the whole assembly. The plastic sheathing is only 36" long. For my replacement, I measured the old assembly that had broken, and I needed about 37" for the entire cord and sheathe. Seeing that others are 36.5" long, I thought I had to order this one. What I didn't realize is that the original had more than a little slack in it, and I could have used the 36.5" and not had 4" of cord and handle sitting on the cushion where I sit. Nothing against the MFG or Shipper, this is just a little tidbit of DIY knowledge for anyone else looking to replace their pull cords due to broken handles. 5My husband was is pretty handy was able to replace and install our recliner ...I order this replacement cable for my reclining sectional from Bassett Furniture. My husband was is pretty handy was able to replace and install our recliner pull cable without too much frustration or swear words lol. He was able to install it quite easily because he watched a video on youtube from a different company and it helped guide us through the installation process. If you search on youtube for, "How To Install Repair or Replace a D-Pull, D-Ring, and Flapper Style Recliner Handle and Cable" it can really help especially if you aren't the expert-reclining-couch-pull string- replacer type.*I have had this for roughly 2 months and it has help up really well to excessive daily use(I have a giant of a husband and 3 kids plus myself) 5Fantastic for DIYersI was able to install this within about 15 minutes... and the longest part was actually taking the old part out. Putting on the new part (this product) took me about 4 minutes... mostly just screwing in the screws again. Then another 5 minutes of me staring at it wondering what I did wrong as there was no way it could have been that easy (... though apparently it was).My original couch part had a spring, this did not, however it seems to be working absolutely fine. I'm not sure what the spring did if this is working this well. Remember that the thing that matters the most is the distance of the exposed part at the end. Mine was 4 3/4" (like this product) but some are 3 3/4". Apparently that was all I really needed to know. lol. This was a little longer overall than my original part but it hides in the couch so no one will ever know.My one gripe is that I do not have large hands by any means and I find that it's a bit tight on my fingers trying to pull the handle. I wish it were just a littler larger for comfort's sake. That's a minor gripe, but since I have to pull it all the time, I would have preferred a handle with a bit more room. That's my one and only gripe. Great product for the price and it renewed my couch. 4
