I loved the lights so much I ordered two more I ordered the kit version over a year ago. I loved the lights so much I ordered two more. Unfortunately the quality has dropped. The LED isn t as sharp and crisp as earlier versions nor as bright with same type of batteries. The function button also appears to have cheapened too. 1Best Flashlight I ever had This is a wonderful flashlight. I use it primarily when walking the dog at night. It is small and relatively lightweight( given its power). Nice loop for around wrist. I walk over rough and crumbling pavement going down hill in some sections and this light is so bright that I feel like I am walking in daytime. When light starts to dull, just switch to the other battery and charge to spent one. I highly recommend Would be Perfect for camping, too. 5By far my favorite flashlight ever This flashlight is super bright and the rechargeable battery lasts a long time. I got 2 batteries with the first set I purchased, so I came back for this one so I can use both batteries at once & have 2 lights. By far my favorite flashlight ever - I use it every night around the farm. 5Really compact but high end features for a great, competitive price! I didn't realize how badly I needed this. All my flashlights were either disposable, tiny things or the size of a baseball bat. I spontaneously bought this and it's more than perfect! I end up using it every day because (against my best efforts) I always check the mail in the dark, take out the trash, water the plants, etc. This gem is wonderful for those things. It's strong, adjustable and small. Every (woman for sure but also) person should own one. 5This is by far the best flashlight I've ever had This is by far the best flashlight I've ever had. I used 3 AAA batteries for it. This is not your typical flashlight. The amount of light it gives off is INCREDIBLE!! I went out in to the woods, it was pitch black, I turned on the flashlight and it illuminates the area. You can adjust it to zoom in on something far away and the view is crystal clear and very very very bright. There is no way someone can ever hide out in the shadows with this light. I highly recommend it. I think anyone would be very happy with this light. It's a nice size. I also bought a flashlight pouch for the light and the pouch can be attached to my backpack through the molle. I personally think the pouch is important because such a good flashlight should have a nice holder and it keeps it safe and secure. I am going to purchase another flashlight as soon as I'm done with this review. 5You Will Say, "I Can't Believe This Flashlight" I did a lot of research on various flashlights. I wanted something that was very powerful. One of the YouTube videos that I watched showed a review of the flashlight. The reviewer took his outside at night, shined it into some trees far away, and said "Wow... this is an amazing flashlight". I ordered it, received it, and took it outside at night, shined it into some trees and around the neighborhood, and said, "Wow... this is an AMAZING flashlight". I was truly amazed at how powerful this flashlight is. This thing is incredible. You can either zoom it into a narrow beam, or you can have the beam wider. On the narrow beam it goes an incredible distance. One the narrow beam it lights up the immediate vicinity. You can either use a single 18650 battery, or the flashlight does come with a battery holder that allows you to use 3 AAA batteries. I would suggest going with the single 18650 rechargeable battery (with the highest mAh rating you can find). I did notice a little bit of difference in the brightness of the flashlight when using the single 18650 battery instead of the three AAA batteries; the color of the beam with the 18650 was whiter than with the three AAA batteries. If you only have the three AAAs and do not have a second flashlight to compare against, I don't believe you will notice any difference between the 18650 and the AAAs, when just looking at the beam from the AAAs. I had purchased two flashlights and could compare the brightness of the beams side by side; I switched the batteries in the two flashlights, so I would be sure the flashlight bulb was not responsible in the difference in brightness. I have needed a battery charges, so purchased a Nitecore D2 Digicharger for the 18650 batteries (very happy with that unit). I have been wanting to start using rechargeable batteries in all my devices. The one thing that is a minus with the flashlight is that it was difficult to figure out how to have the flashlight cycle through the various modes: High/Medium/Low Beam, Disrupter Signal Strobe, SOS Rescue Signal. The flashlight does not come with instructions. However, if you go to the following website (Solaray Products, ZX-1), you can download the manual. Look for the "User Manual" tab. You can set the flashlight to come back on in the same mode you left it in when you turned it off, or you can cycle to a different mode and have it stay in that mode the next time you turn it on. I would still give this flashlight a "5" even without receiving the instructions. It is an amazing flashlight. You can get the manual from the Solaray web site. 5You get what you pay for. You get what you pay for...It does work OK. Definitely not a 1200 lumen flashlight but it is adequate for what you get. The finish is nice, however the fitment is sub par. The sliding focus is very loose and rattly. The lanyard ring is extremely small and would not stand up to any abuse. Lens bezel had to be tightened right out of the box. Whole flashlight gets very hot after about 10 minutes of constant use on high with an 18650 500mAh battery. The different modes , High, Med, Low, Strobe and S.O.S are easily obtained with a slight push of the on off switch. All in all i would buy again as a flashlight to throw in a drawer and use in a power out situation or in the glove box of a vehicle for that occasional time when you may need on to see in the dark but not one i would recommend as an EDC. 3It is great probably the best flash light I have bought Got this for the wife and I for morning walks with the dog. After looking at many of them and not trusting some other companies went out on a limb and bought this. It is great probably the best flash light I have bought. thinking of buying a couple more. IF you have a red lens that would be great for deployments. 5Best Compact Flashlight I bought this flashlight for my husband to carry in his truck console - Do not let the size fool you - I is very hi powered for its size and can be adjusted. We absolutely love this flashlight We love the size and multiple uses. It also has and comes with Rechargeable Batteries. You need one to operate this flashlight and it comes with 2. It is nice to have a backup battery Also it comes with a charger for the batteries, and for those power outage times, this can be run on regular batteries. This was a favorite purchase. 5Good basic flashlight but memory won't hold. It's a sturdy, bright flashlight, but I cannot get it to hold memory settings. There were no instructions with the product, but the vendor sent instructions in PDF format. I followed the memory setting instructions that were provided and tried to set the strobe mode into memory. It seemed to work after leaving it on in strobe mode for 6 seconds and then off for 6 seconds, but then it reverted to bright flashlight mode after it had been turned off for more than about 30 seconds. Still a good, bright flashlight for the price but disappointing that it won't hold strobe mode. 2
