Description
Bonsai Akadama: Used by Japanese master gardeners. Akadama soil is mined in Japan from volcanic soil. Once extracted its dried and sifted to various grain sizes.
Provides Drainage: Aeration is important for healthy root growth. Akadama has the ability to absorb water while spreading nutrients to your bonsai trees roots
Sifted and Dried: Tinyroots akadama is sifted through a 1/8" mesh and then through a 1/16" mesh to reduce the sediment that is bagged.
Visual Indicator: The volcanic soil darkens when wet which provides an idea of when to water your bonsai or succulent plant.
Multiple Uses: Can be used for as a succulent soil for cactus and other indoor plants. Also beneficial for conifers and deciduous bonsai trees.

Customer Reviews
Bonsai soil made easy.Great median for your bonsai soil and bonsai collection. I'll be ordering more soon.
5Good water retention, fairly tough, will need fines strained, good buy!I like that for the price it is fairly consistent, you will need to sift the fines out which could entirely be the shippers fault or happen during storage. Another plus is that this is fairly workable when dry compared to some other akadama soils I have tried. Once wet, water retention seems on par with other more expensive akadamas. I cant speak much to how long it lasts or freeze/thaw cycles as that wont happen where I live but first impressions are very good!
5Ficus bonsai rescueTrying to bring a rescue back to life. Product arrived promptly and as described. Good results so far. This is all new growth.
5Best Bonsai substrateJust started using this product for my Bonsais and it is amazing. I want to state though that its purpose is to create a well draining substrate and that it will not provide a lot of nutrients for your plants. It's also extremely useful for young seedlings and germinating seeds in general. Now that I discovered it I have began to use it in all my indoor potted plants. Amazing product.
5Just Got ItFast delivery and secure packaging. It looks like the same Akadama soil I was using in the past. It is too early to tell how it will do for the bonsai trees; however I feel it will be very good for the trees. I will write later as a follow up.
5Premium is what you getFirst time using Akadama soul to make kokedamas, I m very impressed. I made 4 kokedamas from two pound bag. Thank you!
5A surprizingly good product...A bit pricy... but every plant we've transplanted with 'Akadama Premium Bonsai Soil' has perked up and shown new growth in 48 hours. These include 'Money Plants' 'Orchids' and 'Poinsettias'. We also use 'Organic Plant Magic' fertilizer in conjunction with the soil. A powerful combination in our experiences. Love the Akadama product and will continue using it.
5Good productI m a bonsai beginner and this was my first time reporting my bonsai. This picture is taken after a couple months from use. Seems great!
5Too ExpensiveVery good product and granule size and color just overpriced. I have bought 2 bags as I was in a pinch and needed them but you can buy a 12kilogram bag for 40$ elsewhere on the web. This bag should retail for around 10$ in my opinion.
5I don't love the look of it as its more of a ...I'm new to bonsai so not 100% what I'm talking about. It drys out fast , 2 days, I don't love the look of it as its more of a deserty look than a lush forest floor. The moss on one of my trees seems to be retreating from it.
