Good product but... I have installed another TOTO washlet with a remote controller in the master bath 10 years ago the installation was easy and it worked great and we love it. Lately the wife demands other baths should have a washlet too as she wants a nice warm seat for all the toilets in the house because the freezing temperatures in New York the past few weeks. Okay, did the search and decided on the TOTO A100 as we agreed dryer is not needed, so purchased two A100 from Amazon.The pieces arrived in two days as usual with Amazon Prime. Installed one in 20 minutes without any problems and it works fine as it supposed to. The wife loves it and I got a compliment.Continue working on the second unit and half way done installation I was unable attaching the supplied water junction tee to the toilet tank inlet, wondering if I cross threaded the plastic inlet valve, removed the piece and inspected the connections and unexpectedly found the water junction tee has a different size (3/4 ) coupling. Stopped all the works and ran to the big box stores tried to get some adapters or different hoses for connection but noting works. Disappointed, went home, undo everything and put back the old toilet seat. Waste of time and very frustrated.The water junction tee should be a 7/8 BC connector which is a US standard for all toilet water supply inlet valves. How a same model same production lot washlet came with two different parts? One works and the other do not. Where is the TOTO quality control?I sent a message to TOTO customer service 5 days ago and no response. Meanwhile the washlet is sitting in the garage and it may have to go back to Amazon.To be fair, the A100 has good features, works fine and decent priced. However, the quality control and the customer service are subpar causing unnecessary troubles to the customers and mess up a good product.Updates: spoke to the customer service and got the replacement junction tee and finished the installation. The process took 2 1/2 weeks for the replacement part. I would now rate the product to a 4 star. 4I expected ToTo to do better! I have used Toto washlets for about 2 decades. It has been always a positive experience. I m closely related to Japan and travel there a lot , so every time I m there I would grab one of these from the electronic store and bring home for family or friends. One of them broke after over 10 years of service recently and I thought this time I order the US version through Amazon at some 20% higher price which is not a big deal and skip the hassle of carrying a toilet in my checked baggage and customs, which is a story of its own.Installing went well until I noticed that I cannot use the old piping. I had to connect the toilet supply line to the fixed washlet hose. No matter what I did it leaked! Eventually I had to replace the whole flush valve but unfortunately it still leaked when I used the supplied flat washer. I got creative and went back to Home Depot to find a rubber O-ring that solved the leak. Installation took about three hours and a half and required two trips to the local hardware store. Very disappointing from The brand I trusted for so many years to clean rear ends. 2you likely know what these are and how nice it is to use one If you ve been to Japan, you likely know what these are and how nice it is to use one. This is the model that I saw the most, and now I have one of my own.Make sure to read the installation instructions! It s all fairly simple and no special tools or skills are required, but you will need an electrical outlet within several feet of your toilet and most American bathrooms aren t wired like this. 5TOTO Washlet A100 review It was simple to install and easy to use. My Costco case of toilet paper is lasting a long, long time. It is the most basic model and is more than enough for a regular person. As bidets go, this the only one of which I'm aware that both lets you use warm water and doesn't need to connect to the hot water line to your sink, which wouldn't work for us. It definitely looks a little clunky/clinical, but it's very convenient to use. Overall, highly recommended. 5Does not fit all toilets! I absolutely love this product. After traveling to Japan where bidet toilet seats are EVERYWHERE (I think it's a cultural thing), I had to have one installed. This seat does everything as advertised. In addition, it was easy to install (it took me less than 20 minutes!).There is a plastic plate to install where you slide your toilet assembly so make sure the surface where you install the plate can lie flat. The plate has to lay flat on the toilet (around 1 1/4 inch from edge of toilet/water). In addition, you don't want the bowl that holds the water to encroach to the toilet seat. See how the back of the toilet seat is flat. 5Annoying set up but works ok I purchased this bare bones model as an introduction to their products. I bought this in mid July and it's been sitting in on our toilet not functioning because they sent us a 7/8 tee. Now 7/8 might be the standard for Japanese toilets but I'm pretty sure this was intended for the US market seeing as the instructions were in English, etc. Make a trek to a local Home Depot and get laughed at because they do not carry 7/8 sizing (outside of hoses). I even go as far as buying a bidet kit from another competitor hoping it would solve my problem and have the fitting I need to finally complete the installation. NOPE. Now I am trying to find a box so I can return this damn thing. 3Great washlet, easy install This review is for the A100. It's a pretty bare-bones model, with an integrated button panel (not a remote control), three wash positions, seat and water temperature control. It's exactly the same seat model that is installed throughout a number of Japanese hotels (for example Tokyo's New Otani Inn).Installation was dirt-easy. The installation document is as bare-bones as the model, so don't expect a lot of hand-holding with installation, but it's still easy: take off the old seat, mount the new one, attach the Y-joint below the tank, plug it in, you're done. Perhaps you'll want something like two adjustable wrenches? You'll maybe want some plumbers tape and a phillips-head screwdriver? That's really it.The washlet works, pretty much exactly as you'd expect. Press the button, you get your lower bod washed, which is exactly the reason you'd buy this. Press the stop button, and you're done. The seat is of course a little tilted forward, so you're gonna have to get used to that a little bit - it should be expected, and is a small tradeoff. For the price, this is a great washlet with easy install. 5Harder to install than described It was a lot harder to install than the information provided on the Amazon site implies. And the information provided in the box on how to install were not sufficient and I especially had a really hard time figuring out how to connect it to the water supply. I had to write to Toto directly and they provided an instructional video which was helpful (sorry I can't provide the link here due to Amazon guidelines, but the title is "Installing a Washlet S300e, S350e, or new B100 Washlet"), although the instruction to specifically finger tighten the connection to the toilet was not clear as that resulted in significant leaking. It was necessary for me to use a wrench to tighten the connection sufficiently, but I had to be careful not to tighten it too much which would have harmed the plastic pipe on my toilet.Also it took me a while to figure out that there is a release button on the upper right side of the bidet to allow you to remove it from the base. It was hard to find information about that button in the materials provided.In general, the materials provided for installation were not sufficient for me to successfully install the Washlet. 4Proprietary Adapter - Stay Away! I should have read the reviews for this thing more carefully. The adapter that comes with this device does not work on standard 1/2" fittings. I went to my local hardware store looking for adapters and none fit. The adapter is proprietary or perhaps metric - either way if you ever have a problem you will need to replace the whole thing. I couldn't get it installed so sent it back. 1
