    Best fitting replacement I've foundI have a Trion AirBear filter housing as part of my A/C that came with a 20x25x5 filter. Replacements I've purchased in the past were always just a little bit loose in the housing. They slid in easy. This doesn't sound like a problem, except you want the filter to fit snugly so that the air is forced to go *through* the filter instead of around it (via air gaps between filter and housing). I purchased these and slid one in and it was very snug! I had to slide it in gently so as not to damage the filter structure, but once in, it was clear that this was fitting as well as could be. I'm confident the air is going through the filter now (and both my spouse and I noticed an improvement in air quality as a result). 5Reasonably Good Buy For The PriceI would be willing to pay a little more for filters that can be easily installed and removed. These filters tend to "crush" up with any attempt to simply slide them into position. I've never encountered that with any other brand. Be very careful they don't tear apart when you try to remove them. In fact, when I tried to slide one in and it "crushed" and became stuck, I then had difficulty removing it due to its flimsiness. While I did like the price, I would not purchase them again. HOWEVER, these filters need replacing less often than the one inch models, so you may well be more than willing to put up with that issue in order to achieve significant savings. 3Cheaper to DIYThe people who service our propane heater don't keep this size filter in stock so when they came to service the heater, they special ordered the filter, charged us for it and made a second trip to install it. But then I found out that changing the filter just means opening a little door, sliding the old filter out and sliding the new filter in. It seemed very silly to have a separate service appointment just to slide in a filter. So I ordered these filters myself, which were a lot cheaper and I do the installing myself. I've bought these filters several times and they have all arrived in perfect condition, each in a plastic bag and all in a box, and they all fit perfectly in the slot. 5TRION Air Bear filtersTRION Air Bear filters - Original company product.These are from Air Bear, they are not 3rd party replacements.These filters come in 2 efficiencies, MERV 8 or 11. These are the higher standard, MERV 11.Best quality product.My installer tried to sell me 1 MERV 8 for $46.Here I get 3 MERV 11s for $72.So for less than 2 cheap ones, I get 3 efficient ones. Buy these here!Remember your installer wants maximum profit from you, Buy here instead.And whatever you do, stay away from Laury Heating, Cooling and Plumbing in South Jersey! 5a good product and vendorThese MERV 11 filters work well for me. They arrived quickly and (mostly) intact. One had a bent corner from an impact to the shipping box, but was able to straighten it out enough to get a decent fit.I can see where thicker boxes increase shipping costs, but still wish there was a cost-effective way to prevent the shipping dents/damage to the filters - it is not uncommon in my experience. Otherwise, a good product and vendor. 5Good filter by brand name manufacturerThe Trion Air Bear filter is a MERV 11 (very fine filtration) with brand name backing. Installation was easy, just take your time and keep the filter box aligned as it slides forward. This filter does have foam seal strips. The filter is cardboard sided and can "flex" fairly easy - when installing push at the top and bottom of the side panel. This filter is 5 inches wide for a 15% increase in capacity over the 4 inch. 5Well worth the moneyWe replaced the old 1986 furnace our house had in 2015. The installer warned us that new furnace filters are a bit pricier than the dollar home improvement store versions the old furnace used.However, at the cost of our new furnace, we wanted to protect our investment. The heating bills dropped by 30% a month, so we figured it was well worth the cost of springing for these filters. The house seems to be less dusty too. A 3 pack lasts us about a year, we replace the filter roughly every 4 months all year long. Well worth the money. They are not reusable, we place in the garbage can when the system alerts that it is time to replace filters. 5Very Disappointed with this filterBiggest problem with these filters is that the cardboard on the outside is so flimsy that the filter collapses as you are trying to insert it into the opening in your HVAC unit. I never had this problem with any other filter. The overall construction is also of a poor quality. The filtering material itself appears to be substandard. Take a close look at the pleats in the picture and you will see what I mean. They are thin, flimsy and lack rigidity. Finally, the actual filter portion contains only 16 of the corrugated folds compared to 20 on the filter it replaced. This translates into 20% less filtering capacity and means the filter will need to be replaced sooner. I am throwing them out and seeking a replacement. 1Great filtrationWe recently replaced our old furnace with a Trane and this was the filter the installers recommended. There is a merv 8, merv 11 and a merv 13. We chose the merv11. Been told the merv 13 puts too much of a strain on a residential furnace. 5Great filters, although I have bought them multiple times ...Great filters, although I have bought them multiple times and I received a three pack most times, but the last time I received just a single filter. The seller quickly refunded that order. The thing that I like about these filters apart from some of the other MERV 11 filters in the same size is the foam strips on the top and bottom that ensure that air must go through the filter. Some of the other versions don't have the foam strips to ensure a good seal so that air and dust can just flow around the filters. I have used these filters in a American Standard furnace and A/C with no issues for 7 years now. 5
