Customer Reviews

Works well!So far I have been really pleased with this. I've always been somewhat unsure of how tight to secure fasteners, especially in certain applications. I originally purchased because I had some action screws that I needed to torque down after replacing the stock on a rifle, and none of my existing torque tools were set up for the job. It functioned well. Despite being advertised as a firearms tool, I've used it a handful of times on other applications where I wanted some precision tightening screws and other fasteners. The included bits are nice to have, especially if you don't have a lot of screwdriver bits already. 5As I put it to use torquing scope mounts and changing the torque settings from 20 to 65 a few times it seems to run down the batWhen it arrived it did not work. I eventually figured out when the factory put in the battery they bent down one side of the contacts. So it works as far as I can tell. As I put it to use torquing scope mounts and changing the torque settings from 20 to 65 a few times it seems to run down the battery pretty quickly. 3Bits are a little bit soft,Bits are a little bit soft, if you are trying to torq over 45in pounds you will bend the flat head bits 4Inaccurate at timesUpdate;I contacted the company about this and was it was quickly addressed. Changing my review to a 4 as the replacement has worked great since. I'd probably buy the more mechanical version going forward as it'd meet my needs, and I'm assuming is less vulnerable to issues like I had. Overall, a great company with great products and customer service.I liked this at first, but soon found the wrench to be faulty. When tightening, I've had it go dead and restart multiple times. Not sure if something inside is losing connection, but it's quite annoying. After it restarts and makes a bunch of false noise, I need to reset the spec before proceeding with the torque. Overall, I can't recommend. If I get contacted by the mfg, I'll change my review. 4Absolute GarbageThe new one did the exact thing as the old one. The only difference is I got a half dozen uses and half a year out of the first one; this new one starting clicking the moment I removed the little 'battery saver' strip thing...click, click, click like crazy, then poof never turns on again (read the reviews...lots plagued with this issue...change the battery to a known good, ensure battery seated properly, just burns itself out instantly). The Chinese guy who supposedly inspected this unit should be fired.Luckily this thing just arrived today and I can return! I think I'm done with Wheeler and their garbage products...got an AR-link from Wheeler that needed to be milled out a little to work with my (standard) takedown pin; I got the AR bore guide that won't allow me to close the dust cover on two different rifles; I have a wheeler brass bag with holes in the cheap material burned in from hot brass; and now I have another junk torque wrench from Wheeler that was DOA.As President Bush once said, 'Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice...and you won't fool me a third time.'Keep your Chinese crap, Wheeler. We're absolutely done with your garbage. 1But the old school wheeler manual tourque wrench that clicks insteadIt doesn t click when at the desired torque setting so you will go over every time so you will never have equal settings on multiple scope ring screws. I snapped a scope ring the first time I used it. It beeps when your getting close to the tourque and a loud beep when you go plast your setting. It doesn t have a click like the manual tourque wrench so you will always overtourque and have no consistency. Do yourself a favor and buy the cheaper non digital wheeler touque wrench that clicks at the tourque setting. It will be way more accurate and consistent compared to the digital wrench. Lastly it feels cheap in comparison to the manual wrench being it s extremely lightweight because it s electronic and has not internals. 1Accurate Digital "below 8 N-m" Torque wrench.I have worked with precision digital torque wrenches and had realistic expectations of the force limitations. Keep in mind that if you need "tactile mechanical" feedback this may not be for you. If you work in the 5 Nm range this is perfect. I reached 12 Nm however i did have to attach a small torque multiplier (think 90 drill handle) otherwise the unit has too small of a diameter to easily reach those higher force levels comfortably. Setting the unit to "peak" and listening to the tones allows me to tightening screws without having to see the relatively small digital display. 5Item stopped workingHad it about a week and a half. Battery died. I replaced it with the spare that was included. unit would not turn on. I replaced that with a fresh one. Unit would not turn on. BTW, I always turn the unit off when not in use.I have sent an email to the company that distributes them. We will see what happens. 1Nice ergonomics, simple operationThe ticket to mounting telescopic sights. Nothing dumber than getting that Leupold on the M98 action pillar bedded to the Manlicher stock, Timney trigger, lapping the rings then guessing at consistent torque specs. I was little leery of this torque wrench (I don't like needing batteries for a nonpowered tool) but it is as smooth as butter and has a simple inteface. Really feels good and positive. My disability can be challenging using hand tool but this wrench has great ergonomics and is simple for me to use. Bless you Wheeler! 5Don't do itUsed this to torque a couple screws down to 30 in/lbs and the bit twisted and didn't return to shape. And Chapman bits won't fit well enough and stay in the end. Very disappointed. Returned it and ordered a Brownell's torque wrench. Save your money. If Chapman bits fit it, I would give it three stars. If the bits that came with it weren't garbage, I would give it 4. I would never give it 5 stars because it is almost impossible to reach 90 in/lbs with this screwdriver because of the shape, you have to have a gorilla grip to be able to grip it enough to keep it from spinning in both hands to reach 90. 2
