Why do these cost so much?They are fine storage totes. I like the kind with attached lids. I bought 3 of these for over 20 bucks each. Then i found some at wal-mart for 6.88. I bought a couple of those as well. Surely, I thought, these 20 dollar totes will be sturdier or larger. Well they are not significantly stronger, and they are the same size as the 7 dollar totes. My bad. I won't make that mistake again. 3Not as clear as pictured. Box unsealed. Dimensions inaccurate.Bought this container to be used as a diy hamster cage. Disappointed that it s not as clear as pictured. It does say semi clear in the description but there s not really a numerical value for the clarity so you rely on the photo which shows colorful towels still fairly visible on the outside. That is not the case. As you can see in my photos. The size is good but you d think the height would actually be as stated. I needed something big enough to fit an 11 running wheel. When you close the box, the lid has some plastic sticking out so if you close it, there is actually less space inside. I couldn t close the lid without it stopping the wheel from turning. I had to leave the other lid open and just cover it with something else. I chose this container over the clear Rubbermaid one which was $30. I thought this was a great deal for the lower price. It also came in a box that is not properly sealed, the tape was halfway removed, even the label was coming off and the box was too big for the container! I needed a container the day I received it so returning it was not an option. Wish I went to Walmart or the local grocery. 2This item is mislabeled and the description is inaccurate. ...This item is mislabeled and the description is inaccurate. I got this item to store some 3-ring binders of company records and while the dimensions in the post say they are 12.9" high, the inside dimension is under 11.75" so they are too short for binders. When I looked at the label on the item it actually says 17" high, so that is obviously very wrong. The overall quality is just OK, I don't think they would have worked for me anyway since they couldn't take the weight of 5-6 binders and having them stacked in a storage room. I guess you get what you pay for. 2One drop on a hard floor will crack the plastic.I ordered three of these container to store my detailing microfiber towels. The semi-clear plastic makes it easy to identify what's inside. One of the containers arrived damaged and had to be returned. I was excepting something more heavy duty but they'll serve my needs. I love that these are made in the USA but one drop on a hard floor will crack the plastic. 2Worth it!Bought this to put my homebirth supplies together. This fit everything perfectly! Definitely recommend this. It s fairly deep, and even when stuffed I was able to close the lid. I was slightly disappointed this didn t come stuffed with marijuana just kidding, but that situation will forever live in infamy. 5Factory Seconds - Inferior and Slightly DangerousOver the years we've accumulated a total of twenty seven Akro-Mils 12 gallon KeepBoxes. The units being sold here are inferior. Regrettably, we just purchased six. These six would be returned to Amazon if we were not in the middle of a project, and in need of the storage. The problems with these units include: 1. sharp knife-like bits of plastic on the base; 2. lids that don't fit properly; and 3. numerous white discolorations on the blue lids.The sharp knife-like bits of plastic occur where the two halves of the factory's mold didn't seal properly during the manufacturing process. Plastic ran into the tiny gap between the mold faces and solidified, forming some very sharp edges. They are particularly hazardous at the side of each handle. Before I realized how shoddy these boxes are, I caught a finger on one and it bled slightly. A small thing, that could have been worse. I've now had to take the time and trouble to remove these, and others, using a sharp hobby knife (i.e. careful cutting in some twenty four locations).None of the lids fit properly. They gape. With our other 27 boxes, you can just let the two halves of the lid fall into place. Each box closes flat. With these inferior boxes, none of them close flat. Each end of the blue lid is about 1/4 to 3/4 inch above the lip of the bin, and where the lids are meant to mesh along the center, each one looks like a wound that needs stitches. I've tried numerous things to try to correct this, but nothing has worked.If you're familiar with taking a bit of colored plastic and bending it, with the idea of breaking it, you will often see it turn white at the places of maximum stress. There isn't one of the twelve half lids that doesn't have what looks like white stress damage. Since the lids all gape anyway, these blemishes are hardly a distraction. However, it does call into question the integrity of the lid materials, and their longevity.I bought six for $19.12 each, four days ago. Today, the price is $17.70 each. Is a high rate of returns driving the price drop? I have no idea, but I do know that these six would be returned if the inconvenience factor wasn't so high. 1Excellent and easily accessed storage.This is a perfect size for my craft supplies. I like it so well, I've just purchased a second one and may buy a third. They are easy to carry, the lid can be locked if needed or a long U-bolt can be employed to keep them closed for long term storage. I don't think their water tight to last through a flood, but they would protect the contents from insects, dust, and dampness. To ensure the contents don't mildew in a non-temperature controlled environment, I'd add a large package of absorbent crystals. I'll be storing mine inside my house. 5Perfect for moving!These containers definitely cut down my need for multiple boxes when at least 2 "normal" sized cardboard box items could fit inside one of these. Heavy pots and pans were much easier to move with use of a dolly and no worry about the containers breaking. Additionally, glassware and other breakables did perfectly fine! I also love that they are fairly air tight so I am not worried about any pests making homes in them while they are used for garage storage. 5I suppose if you were storing paper inside with no movement, they might work. I was going to carry stuff in my SUV. To Flimsy!These are so flimsy they already had broken during shipping. See the photo attached! I was going to use these in my SUV to carry stuff when I go camping. They are just too thin for this type of use. 1I have many of these. Sturdy. Can hold a lot of weight.These are better than the STERILITE products. The plastic of these is more sturdy and the lids are hinged and much sturdier. You can stack these - each box around 30 pounds. Can stack about 3 high. Any higher and the bottom box top might break. SteriLIte products crack easily when stacked.Great for storing things in your basement or garage. In garage it can handle 90+ F degrees and periods below freezing too. Warning . at cold temperatures the plastic gets brittle so do not drop them on garage floor. Be more gentle in winter and they will last several years.Highly recommend these. Can hold a lot of stuff, including important papers you want to keep for 7 years in case needed for IRS audits, etc. (bills, tax filings, investment buy and sell histories, etc). Can also be used to store liquids, painting supplies, auto supplies, tools, DVDs, wiring, games, toys, etc,...... Buy some stick on large sticky labels (from amazon) and label your boxes for better organization of your stuff.I've been using these types of storage containers for over 20 years.Good for storing your travel emergency stuff in your vehicle trunk - emergency vests, flares, flashlights, first aid kit, tools, emergency blankets, gloves, ice scraper, etc.. (all available on Amazon) 5
