Customer Reviews

Great item .. but then its US all cladIts the pot I expected at the best price. Less than I paid 2 years ago at Macys with all sorts of discounts. 5This is a wonderful pot! My food did not scorch or burn. 5Expensive But Worth ItI am so glad I purchased this All Clad brand soup pot. It feels substantially made. I wanted to try out this D5 before the expense of a bigger pot with the 7 layers. The 5 layers is better than most posts but it still doesn't distribute heat like a crockpot or slow cooker. I am still giving a 5 rating because you can feel and see the quality of the pot. 5It's a great potOh my, oh my, oh my. I'm new to all clad but I'm also not a young person. I've been cooking for at least 50 years so I know my way around a kitchen. I've owned almost every kind of cheap cookware out there. You know if it breaks go buy another one mentality. Ah when you're young! I bought a 3qt. D5 and was sold. I'm way past the "disposable" stuff. I want it to out last me. I also don't want to constantly worry about the heat being to hot, scratching things up, etc. I use my pans. This pan is large. It's not that heavy and I cooked gumbo in it yesterday. Easy to clean. Cooked like a pan is suppose to cook. It was suppose to have a scratch or something wrong with it. I can't find it sooooo, Yes, I'm happy. 5After inheriting a few nice pieces of All-CladAfter inheriting a few nice pieces of All-Clad, we found we were missing a pot of this particular size. Great pot, and works great with the new induction range we just bought. 5SCRATCHES TOO EASILYTerrible product...Scratches too easily because they use cheap quality steel...Also, made in 'Murika. 1Worth the costThis pot is actually a bit bigger than I expected, but I love it. It's extremely weighty when liquid is added, making it a task to move around. I primarily use the pot for soups and herbal teas for which it works wonderfully. I've owned other All-Clad product lines, and this is definitely nicer than all the others I've owned. I'd buy this again, and may get an additional piece or 2 from the series. 5Quality? I'm not sure.Pot came with a bent lid. That's great for venting so the lid doesn't rattle but if i wanted to vent i would just clip something to the side of the pot.Bottom of the pot had water spots or white stains. Sure I'm going to clean this pot before use but this seems like bad quality control.I did a boil test with 12qts of tap water. Let it cool to room temp and then dump it out. I found black deposits around the bottom rim of the pot. Dish soap and a blue scrubby wasn't enough to clean a new pot that had water in it for less than an hour. I had to use BKF. Maybe my water has too much iron but none of my smaller stainless steel pots have this issue.I contacted customer service. After providing proof of purchase i received a single response about the deposits being caused by minerals in the water. Nothing about the lid or anything else. For $300 (on sale) your getting a high maintenance but efficient stock pot. Perhaps a factory second. With poor support. 3Great pots for inductionWhat I love: The All-Clad D5 line works perfectly with our Bosch Induction Cooktop. These are holding up in the dishwasher, and come clean without rinsing when we switched to Cascade Complete dishwasher packs. I only use silicone and wooden utensils in them, and after 1 year the pots and pans still look brand new. The times I had baked on food that didn't come off, the Magic Eraser sponges removed the burnt pieces without scratching. (The sponges also work flawlessly on Corningware, as well.) I really like these pans. What I don't: I had one pan out of a different set of D5 pots that showed light pitting after first use of boiling water. I tried to return it and All-Clad told me it was from acidic foods and wouldn't take a return. (On the other hand, I've used D5 for over a year with many all-day tomato pasta sauces and none showed pitting. They are still flawless.) So, customer support is the standard downhill out-sourced garbage that you would expect as of late. 5Just What I Was Searching ForWas so happy to find this size - 8 quart. I have many all clad pieces and like them very much. Have two very larges stock pots, and another pot that is a 6 quart. This is a perfect size for those times that I am doubling a recipe and want several containers for freezing. The other pots were either way too big, or not big enough. Search several sites, and stores locally with hardly any that noted an 8 quart size - found the size right away at Amazon and as Prime member, got it right away - another need satisfied - very speedy delivery. 5
