Love these custard cups.I got these custard cups for my instant pot. I use them for custards and mini cheesecakes. These are microwave and oven safe to boot. They are a good heavyweight glass that comes with lids for each cup. If you are looking for an accessory for the instant pot, this is a great choice. I highly recommend. 5Completely useless lids.Worst design ever. I bought these for portioning lunches out and right off the bat there were issues. I purchased two of these sets. One of the bowls will not fit with the lids. And by that, I mean the lid will not even begin to go on, not just that it is loose. All 8 lids worked on all the other bowls, so I shrugged and figured the one bowl was a little off. I was annoyed, but it was one bowl out of 8. Today I took the first of the other bowls out of the freezer and heated up lunch. Now, guess what? Even after washing and drying, that lid will not stay on. I don't mean that the lid is just a little loose, I am saying that it won't stay on at all. Doesn't matter if you are using solids or liquids. Saran wrap would be a better option. This was a complete waste of money. So frustrating! 1Perfect size!While these little glass custard cups have so many uses, they are perfect for me to put my sons baby food in at meal time. I try to stay away from plastics so little glass bowls make me feel a lot better and when they come in this size it is great! Although I wont use in the over or microwave they are oven safe up to 425 degrees. They also come with lids (great for that leftover custard you could nt finish -does that even happen), the lids are bpa free and number 2 on the recycle list which is for hdpe (milk jugs, detergent and juice bottles) and is considered safe with a low risk for leaching (for those of you interested).Overall a great buy for whatever use you may have! 5What a disappointmentI ordered three sets of these and I just got them in the mail yesterday. I opened them up today only to find that none of the lids fit snugly at all. In fact, if I even barely pick a bowl up around the lid the lid comes right off. Why advertise something for food storage and then provide lids that in no way secure food or liquid within the containers? 1work well for my purposeI am pleased with these custard cups, using them for individual servings of cooked pudding. It's convenient to be able to stack them in the refrigerator for cooling and/or storage without taking up too much room. The bowls measure 4" in diameter across the top and seem sturdy. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading remarks about loose lids, but the ones on my set do fit snugly now. If they should ever need to be replaced, I found that the lid from an 8 oz container of cream cheese spread (happy farms brand) or the lid from a can of coffee will fit well; we always seem to have some of those floating around our kitchen. These glass cups are made by Anchor Hocking in the USA. 4These are the ones for lots of little problemsPorcelain ramekins too expensive, depression glass too delicate, glass lids don't fit well and fall and break, can't bake in plastic bowls so not actively but with an eye out, looked for solution. One day happened upon these but without the lids and thought, if only they had lids. Of course Anchor Hocking had them with lids, good for Amazon.Love to bake and have two small/medium dogs and these bowls solved little problems. When baking, often I'll want to measure out a small amount of something ahead of time or save the bit of ganache leftover to make truffles or cocoa. If a dog doesn't finish or is sleeping when other one eats, can't leave the wet food out on floor. What about that little bit of spaghetti sauce leftover? Two egg yolks? Most of these need lids and they don't need lids that will stay on when tossing the dish or freezing or knocking over; just need a lid. 5Perfect for heating and taking baby food everywhere!I wanted these because they are glass (no plastic containers in my house) and I could fit 2 to 3 baby food ice cubes in each one. I can microwave directly in the dishes and feed my son easily. I have traveled a lot using these handy little containers. Dishwasher safe glass. Plus they are made in the USA!However, many reviews said that the lids split (so I delibrately have been handwashing my lids to protect the lids from the extreme heat of the dishwasher) and I can vouch that I already have one lid that is split out of the 8 i ordered just three months ago :( Not terrible statistically speaking, but still its broken. And I don't use my lids everyday, just when we travel. I use the glass dishes daily to heat all of my son's food.In summary, I would order these again. They meet my expectations daily. Just beware that your lids may not last very long, hence the four stars. (I do remember someone posting that there was a coffee can lid that fit these dishes well, so I will look into that and report back!)Edit: Ok there is a post from Jan. 7, 2013 in which the reviewer indicates that Trader Joe's coffee can lids fit these dishes in the even that one breaks. I can't testify that they work but I figured I should pass the info on! 4Great For Prep Bowls and What Have YouThis is the second time I have purchased these and I absolutely love them. I use them primarily as prep bowls, and love the fact that they come with lids. These are especially useful when I am doing my prep well in advance of cook time, and I have an ingredient that should remain cold until time to cook it. I can store something like chopped onions in the refrigerator until I need to use them; and with the lid the onion stays fresh, and does not transfer its odor to the other items in the refrigerator. These bowls are a perfect size for prep bowls because they are small enough that I can have several on the counter at one time, without them taking up too much space, yet they are still large enough to hold something like a medium sized onion (diced). Even though I buy them primarily to use as prep bowls, these are good for other uses as well. When we eat tacos, these are great for the leftover chopped cilantro, diced onion, and diced cucumber. And apparently they are good for other things as well, since the other person in my household is always taking them to use for this or that. In fact, when I want to use them sometimes they are nowhere to be found - and this why I had to buy a second set - LOL. Another good feature is the fact they are transparent. This means I can see what is in the bowl without having to remove the lid to take a peak. For me, reviews are very helpful when shopping on Amazon, so I try to give information that will help others determine if the product is right for them. Those bowls had so many uses in my kitchen that I thought of buying some more and happily are still available.As other reviewers have noticed, the lids are actually useless. The old bowls have perfectly fitting lids while in this case, though the lids look similar these are very ill fitting. Truly I don't care for the lids. I have many other glass containers for storage purpose.What I like about these bowls most is these are USA made (such a rarity in this country). I can bake individual cups of pudding/custard and serve in the same bowl. I have used these in the oven at 370 degree F. I think the maximum temperature tolerance was mentioned in the box, but I don't remember it now and also I doubt if they would be as heat resistant as the expensive ramekins. But at this price one would not get any better quality ovenproof bowls. I am perfectly happy with my purchase. 5Great, but lids a bit loose and they sag when stacked while filled with something heavy.Back in the mid-80s I bought some Anchor-Hocking plastic-lidded oven-proof custard cups. I still have all of the cups, but the plastic lids have cracked through the center and fallen apart. I could not find replacement lids to purchase anywhere, so I bought these at a decent price of <$9. So far, although they aren t as attractive as the smoke glass ones I ve had for decades, the clear glass of these is very convenient for identifying what is inside them in the refrigerator. They work great to hold single servings of non-dairy, no refined sugar, chocolate tapioca pudding for which I have been experimenting on recipes. I wish the lids were just a little bit tight, rather than this lease. I will have to try running them in the top of the dishwasher, to see if they might shrink a bit. They are good for stacking nested & empty in the cupboard, but when they are full of something heavy like pudding, the lids sag too much stacking them in the refrigerator. This makes the lid sink down over 1/4 inch, so it gets coated with pudding. 4
