Customer Reviews

My favorite oneI have others baby carrier and the K'tan is my favorite and so much easier to use.I was able to put my son in it and use it within just a couple minutes of opening the box without assistance from anyone else!It is light and compact and it's versitle. Ready-To-Wear: No wrapping - No hardwareIt is comfortable and ergonomic, I have back issues and it doesn't cause me pain to carry my baby in it: this is perfect for anyone who has back pain because it evenly distributes the weight so your back wont hurt.My son is so comfortable in this wrap and he instantly calms down when i wear him!Sometimes when we go on walks he doesn't want to stay in the stroller , for me its almost impossible to carry him and push the stroller at the same time but this makes it really handy. It's also great when I am home by myself and need to get stuff done but he insists on being held. The K'tan washes very well and folds up small for easy travel! It s also priced well compared to some of the other baby carriers and wraps.I'm 150 lb and tall 5'7" and fit size L 5LOVE this carrier!I originally bought the Breeze and had to return it because the mesh just wasn't stretchy enough. This one is perfect though! For size reference; I am 5'3", 120(pre-pregnancy), and 135(post-pregnancy) and a 36c bra pre-pregnancy and now a 36dd, and I ordered the x-small; my baby is 8 weeks at 12 lbs and fits well. It is a little snug (I did wash it), but baby does feel secure and Baby K'tan says it will stretch a bit over time to grow with your baby. I do prefer the all cotton one so much better! Feels softer than the mesh did. So far so good! Baby is cozy! I'll update if anything changes!!**UPDATE** I ended up ordering a small just to see if the fit was better and I couldn't decide! I called Baby K'tan customer service and spoke with a wonderful lady named Jamie and she helped me figure out what size was the best. And X-Small it was! She asked some questions to determine correct sizing and shared a few tips on how to stretch it out a bit before I put my LO in so he wasn't smushed, and where exactly he should be sitting on my body. Fabulous customer service!! Thank you Baby K'tan! 5It's so perfect that I could cry.I usually leave factual, descriptive reviews. However, my baby hasn't stopped comfort nursing/crying in a day and a half... until I put him in this. So prepare for emotions. This is not my first kiddo. I used a Mei Tai infanto carrier when my first was a baby, but it quickly lost its zeal due to the limited carry positions. I also have a Moby wrap that I bought brand new... that is the bane of my existence. Any woman who can wrap that thing alone with a fussy baby is a superhero. I also have a ring sling, but I can't manage to get it right for a newborn. So here's the rundownI followed the instructions on sizing and even went to the Ktan website to be sure. Using my pre-pregnancy size, I calculated that I'm an xs even with my milk-riddled 32Gs. Sizing ended up being perfect!I bought the cute cream colored flower one. It's just as adorable in person! The fabric is a bit like a stretchy tshirt. So the directions are easy as cake. I slipped my 4 week old in and in less than 2 minutes I was cruising around the house hands free. Tear free (both mommy and baby). It's so simple to use and I'm so excited to start going on walks wearing my sweet little while my big kid rides his bike. 5Watch the videos - be aware of the varying materialI LOVE this carrier. Make sure to watch the how to video instructions on the K tan website. Much better than the pamphlet that comes with the wrap. I would watch a video and then practice it in the mirror with my baby. Using it becomes second nature after you ve practiced a dozen times or so. It s so easy to use and it fits well in my diaper bag. There are several positions you can do with this carrier and as your baby gets older you can do more positions. My baby was 2 months old in this picture.I m 5 5 125lbs and I got the XS in Heather Gray. NOW comes to my only problem with the K tan. When my baby was 8 months, the carrier was feeling a bit tight for both of us. I expected this and just ordered the next size up - a size S except in Eggplant purple this time. The Eggplant is NOT the same material as the gray. Even after washing with fabric softener it is still very stiff. It feels like the same size as the XS because it doesn t have that little bit of stretch to get it over your shoulders and put baby in. Amazon has a generous return policy so I will be returning it but I don t want to risk trying other colors for fear that the material will be stiff like the purple. So unfortunately I will be ordering Gray again.Really this is a fantastic carrier and I will be sad when my baby no longer fits in it. If you end up not liking the purple try it in gray, or maybe size up. 5Absolutely in LOVE with this carrierAbsolutely in LOVE with this carrier. I have used several in the past...Bjorn, Ergo (with and without the infant insert), Baby Hawk and a few other wrap type carriers. This BY FAR is the best for small infants. I do still have my Ergo and enjoy using that once my children are at least 8 months old. I am so comfortable while using this and so is my daughter. She is 4 weeks old and about 9 pounds. She pretty much falls asleep every time I have her in this. I love how easy it is to use and that there aren't long pieces to wrap and mess with. That is one reason why I didnt love my Baby Hawk and other wrap carriers. The straps were so long and just a hassle for me.As far as sizing for this carrier, their website has a guide that I suggest using to ensure you get the correct size. It will be tight at first but will stretch out a little bit. I am 5'5 and 160lbs, dress size 8-10. I ordered a small and it is the perfect fit. 5Fit is terribleI don t understand how this thing is so highly rated. First off, I chose this because I thought it would be easier to get on than a traditional wrap. It isn t. I found that a traditional wrap was a little easier to use than this. The main reason for this is the loops on the ktan get easily twisted. Even if you straighten them out before putting it on, they usually get twisted up again in the process of getting it on.Second, the fit on this is terrible. Based on the sizing guidelines, I am a medium. But when I tried it on, it seemed way too tight. My baby didn t seem to like it either as he was grunting and fussing while I was trying to squeeze him in. So I got a large and that ended up being too big! My baby didn t feel secure at all in it. I know the makers say that you should stretch the fabric out before use (which I did), but that didn t seem to make it fit any better. And you should have to stretch something out to make it fit. It should just fit. Also, I could never figure out how to make breastfeeding work in this since it was so tight.Ended up switching to a traditional wrap that is much more comfortable for my baby and I. 2AWESOME/ Easy For Breastfeeding in Public!I love this carrier for the following reasons:1) AWESOME for breastfeeding in public - and this is coming from a first-time mom with a 9wk old. Breastfeeding is HARD - and this makes it easier. That alone makes it worth the investment. I wear this out like an infinity scarf, and when kiddo gets hungry, I slip the loops on (just follow instructions in package) and pop her in. The K'tan supports her weight so my arms don't get tired and my back doesn't hurt... and I can have a free hand if needed - and can even nurse standing up/ walking around!!! I wore it the other day while feeding in public at a sandwich shop and at least 3 guys walked by me and were clearly oblivious to the fact I was nursing. Worn with my favorite nursing top by a company called LaClef (https://www.amazon.com/LaClef-Doubled-Maternity-Breastfeeding-Charcoal/dp/B01IYMU2M6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1478883341&sr=8-4&keywords=laclef), you can do stealthy feeding anywhere. I bought a 2nd k'tan in a different color for this exact purpose.2) It's far easier to put on than a Moby, but with essentially the same functionality. To be clear, Moby is also great for babywearing - and Moby has the added bonus of being adjustable which K'Tan is not - but it's not realistic to put on a Moby when you're away from home/ anywhere with a dirty floor, while the K'tan is truly a "go-anywhere" product. Now, there are some "cons". First, sizing is tough. The size calculator had me in a size Med. I'm 5'7" and weigh 165 right now (~155 pre-baby), with 36DDD (36C pre-baby). I put on the medium and it felt huge, especially when my daughter was only 5 wks (~8lbs) - so I exchanged it for a small, which felt much better. Fast forward 4 weeks, she's now 10lbs and the size small feels REALLY tight now, like it might be squeezing her uncomfortably when I baby-wear. BUT the small is fine for nursing (maybe even better than a Med), so I use it for that, and in a pinch for babywearing - but I did go back to buy a second wrap in size medium (again). I used the excuse that I wanted a different color. :) Lots of reviewers talked about the material stretching out, but I haven't noticed that at all with my size small. I guess the moral of the story is to follow the sizing calculator on the Baby K'Tan website - or plan to buy 2 (size a small down for newbs <10lbs, then use the recommended size for over 10lbs). :) But overall, the fact that there isn't a way to adjust it - that's a bummer.Second "con" is that there are Tags. All. Over. There's a GIANT white satin tag with "WARNING: SUFFOCATION HAZARD" in bright red ink and "how to use" instrutions/ pictures in blue and red ink tag sewn into one of the loops. Plus a Baby K'Tan tag on the other loop. PLUS a Baby K'Tan tag on the piece of material in the back that holds the 2 loops together, as well another larger white satin tag that's sewn in with washing instructions, and a 3rd "hanging" tag that has washing instructions in other languages. AND another Baby K'Tan tag on the "seatbelt" wrap. JEEZ! Like I said, I wear the carrier as an infinity scarf (one less thing to stuff into my diaper bag, plus I never have to worry about not having it if I'm already wearing it)... but I've had several occasions where I look down at my "chic infinity scarf" and see "WARNING: SUFFOCATION HAZARD" in bright red lettering on a white satin tag instead. Not so stealthy. Yes, I could probably grab a seam-ripper and spend an hour carefully cutting the tags (mostly) out. In all my free time. As a working-full-time-mom-of-a-9-wk-old. Riiiight. Minor complaint, but a complaint none-the-less.Overall, if you're considering baby-wearing and/ or need a confidence booster/ tool for nursing in public, buy this wrap. I bought both of mine as "open box" deals on amazon and saved a couple bucks. One had been previously opened/ tried on but still had all the tags. The second was completely brand new/ never opened, but the outer cardboard box was totally squished. Just wash before you wear (I'd do that regardless) and it's fine.Good luck, mamas! Happy baby-wearing and nursing!!! 5Wonderful wrap carrier for the simple momI CANNOT stop talking about how much I love this wrap.First, I'll start with the fact that I'm roughly 165lbs and 5'5", wear a size ten pants and medium shirts. I ordered a size medium and it fits great. It'll shrink with the wash a bit, but will stretch out nicely.I'll add that I've tried ring slings and kangaroo pouches and this still tops those for me, by a bazillion.Description: This wrap has two parts; two "infinity scarf" like loops that are connected by a small single loop. The other part is a long piece meant to wrap around the bottom for some types of carry positions. This piece also has a convenient pouch that you can store the whole wrap in.Why I love it:-SO easy to use. The instructions that come with are pictures and step by step and SUPER easy to follow.-The material is LOVELY. Soft, comfortable, and breathable. I am a sweaty momma and this thing is nice.-After trying other pouches and having serious frustration with how difficult it was for me to figure out how to even just put babe in one of them SAFELY and COMFORTABLY, this is hands down, such a headache free option by comparison. If you're like me and don't like having to do tons of trial and error and just want something that comes out of the box ready to go, this is the wrap carrier for you.-As someone with not the greatest back, so far this has been a comfortable carrier.-It feels SAFE. I can honestly say it easy simple to position her safely and comfortably in this thing, and get her in and out without assistance.Tips: Give your baby time to like this. I think with any new thing you put baby in, starting with slow and short introductions is key. My baby was not a fan at first, but has come to love it after a few wears.Cons:-Only I can wear this. My husband is 6'3" and 200lbs, and this would not fit him.- There is a huge warning tag sewn into this thing, which is important, but the seams of it are scratchy and if I don't have this positioned just right it could rub up on baby girl.-Get the sizing just right. I was lucky, I got it right the first time, but if you really aren't sure I know you can reach out to the company for assistance.Overall I would buy this again, and I would recommend it to a friend. 5Great for small babies and easy to put on.I was torn on buying this wrap because I heard mixed things. However, I ended up going for it because my tiny baby needed a snug wrap. I never cared for the basic stretchy wrap because even though my little one is small, the wrap never felt as secure with my older when she was a tiny baby. I am so glad I took a chance. I LOVE this wrap. SO easy to put on because the work is done for you. However, I can understand why this could go wrong. You really do need to size down. I went with XS even though I thought it would be too small. I am sure a Small would have worked fine once I washed it because it does get super tight but the XS is perfect for my little one. I currently weight 143 (15lbs over my pre-pregnancy size. the pre-pregnancy size 128 recommended an XS while my current post-partum weight would be a size Small). I went smaller from reading the reviews and I do think you need to estimate one size down from your shirt size. That being said, my baby is really small. She is under 8 lbs and fits very snugly in this. If she were bigger, I might have needed a small but to be honest, the wrap stretches. Also - the recommendation of 8lbs+ isn't necessarily true if your baby is tiny. You will likely be OK as long as you order the appropriate size. In fact, most of the stretchy wraps are safe for preemies and if those are safe, this would be much easier to use. That being said, if you are planning to share the wrap with someone else -then you are better off buying a stretchy wrap. I hated my Boba wrap because I never felt I could get it tight as I feel my K'tan is. If you are good at wrapping, don't bother with this one and stick to Moby or Boba or similar because it is expensive to buy two of K'tans. If you hate wrapping and want something snug and easy, the K'tan is for you. 4but liked it enough to get a new oneI had a second hand Baby K'tan original which I thought was too small, but liked it enough to get a new one. I purchased one of each style to compare. According to the charts, I am a size L. I am 5'4" with a large chest and wide torso, so I assumed I would not have to go down a size. I've included pictures of the fabric for the Breeze (teal) and Active (coral).I liked the color selection of the original, and the price, but it seemed as though it would be the hottest of the three styles. It's soft, comfortable, and obviously is loved by many baby wearers, but is a thick fabric. This attests to the quality of the wrap, but not the most comfortable to wear during the summer. It stretches as described, but just enough for mom and baby to be comfortable. I feel that as he grows, it will stretch more with his increasing weight, thus fitting us for a while. I had to go down a size on this style because his bottom was below my naval/hips.The Breeze was my least favorite of the three. There are very few colors to chose from, and half of the wrap is the same cotton blend as the original. The mesh section of the wrap reminds me of gym shorts; it only stretches a little, and feels a little scratchy against the skin. It would definitely make the wrap much cooler for baby or mom, but not both. This was true to size for me, but may be too small for others.I ended up liking the Active the best because it felt as though it would be the coolest during the summer heat. I do NOT like the color selection, but I do like the UV protection and the fact that the fabric wicks moisture (not tested, but assuming due to the item description). I put my hand in the fabric of each of these wraps, and this seemed just as cool as the Breeze, but for both mom and baby. This wrap seemed to stretch the most of the three. I have to go down a size with this one, but I do think it is the best option for us (despite the stinkin' color choices). 5
