Customer Reviews

Glad I got thisMaybe I haven't mastered it yet, but the process of making the green tea with matcha powder and then adding in the steamed almond milk is tedious. The whisk does break down the matcha well so it doesn't form little balls, but there are some still floating about despite how much I whisk it. I watched a couple of You Tube instructions but am still having problems. Otherwise, I like the idea of using bamboo rather than metal to make this tea. You'll need to also order the matcha powder. I tried the Kenko and like it very much. 3Didn;t think I needed this, but I DID!I really didn't think I "needed" this bamboo set, but boy, was I wrong. I purchased Matcha tea from a well known tea store and it was very very expensive. I used to make my cup of tea this way: I put a small teaspoon of matcha to the bottom of my cup, added a small amount of cold water and used a small metal whisk to stir and make a paste. I then would add the hot water and whisk again. I was told to do it this way to avoid the clumps at the bottom and to get the most out of my matcha. However, I would always get clumps! After buying this chasen set, I used the same method (creating a paste), but I put it in a larger cup or bowl so that it would be deep enough to actually whisk without spilling. I would whisk in a "Z" shape without touching the bottom of the bowl and now, NO MORE CLUMPS and no more wasted matcha!Watch a youtube video for correct whisking - thats what I did! Enjoy! 5Perfect cup of matcha tea the first time I prepared it!Delivered on time. Excellent product. I'm a newbie matcha tea drinker and learned from Youtube how to prepare the tea. I prepared my very first cup using the BambooMN set I had ordered (except for the teaspoon, which I didn't need), and it came out just perfect. I've been preparing matcha tea once a day every day for two months now. With the help of the whisk rest (ordered separately from BambooMN) to keep it in shape, the chasen looks like it would last forever, but of course it would need to be replaced someday. And when that time comes, I will definitely order the replacement from BambooMN. 5LOVE! Perfect for Matcha Tea!I have been using this every day for a couple of weeks now and for this price you really get a lot out of it! The spoon is perfect to measure your matcha tea and the whisk really stirs the matcha into my hot almond milk perfectly! They are easy to wash and are really durable! The case that the whisk comes in is also perfect because it stores it nicely! 5Complete game changer!!I had no idea how badly I needed this until I bought it! I had previously just assumed matcha will always have some clumps in it until I came across this product and decided to give it a try and oh my goodness it is a complete game changer!!Full disclosure, I did have to watch a YouTube video to see exactly how I'm supposed to use this. So for anyone as clueless as me, use the hook to scoop up your matcha into a small bowl (this works as a great way to ensure you're not using too much because when it comes to matcha, less is more, so 1-2 scoops is all you need depending on your preference), then pour just a little bit of hot (not boiling water) into the bowl and use the whisk to--- surprise-- whisk the matcha vigorously until all of the chunks are broken up and you see tiny bubbles (which if you lift the whisk up a bit you can whisk those out as well). Then pour into your mug, fill with water (and if you're like me, a lot of honey) and enjoy :) Of course, I'm no expert, but this is at least how I use it. To my understanding, the spoon is just to be used for mixing anything into your matcha or just as an extra spoon to have. Also, keep in mind that the bamboo will absorb liquid, so do not leave any of this in the sink or run through the dishwasher. The whisk really only needs a nice rinse anyway. 5ExcellentAfter reading many reviews of whisks or chasens, I was afraid to buy one online. People mentioned that some didn't hold their shape, some wouldn't fit back into their containers and some had too few tines. After taking the risk and buying this, then using it about every other day for a little less than a month, I can say that I'm very please with it, with just one minor exception. I realize what may be behind some of the negative comments for other chasens. It's bamboo, not stainless steel. It's a very strong wood but it should be taken care of like bamboo, not stainless steel. For example, it should never be soaked or put in a dishwasher, just rinsed and shaken dry and turned as it is in the picture to fully dry. This chasen whips up an excellent froth and fits neatly in the container after fully dry to help hold its shape (you should never put it back in the container when it is wet, even slightly wet). Only negative thing: I tried to close the lid by pressing it in the middle and it cracked. I can still use the lid with the crack but, since it's pretty thin plastic, the lid should be pressed down only near the edges. 5Great Set of Bamboo Tools for Tea or Coffee!!!!!I really love this set. I use the spoon every day for all my beverage stiring (coffee and tea). The chashaku is pretty awesome as well. It measures out about 1/4 tsp to 1/2 tsp depending on how much you heap. I basically scooped and then tapped into a measuring spoon to learn the "eyeball" measurement and now I use it whenever I need 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon of tea.The whisk is nice. I have had a pleasant experience with it. This is how I take care of it: after using it, rinse and wrap your fingers around the whisk part to re-shape and set back into the plastic container it came it. The first use I did not do that and it expanded out while on my dish rack and would not go back in the container. But I used it again and again and after a few times it went back into shape. I lost the lid so the whisk has stayed about 1/4 inch longer than the tube but that does not bother me at all.My suggestions to others is to not leave the bamboo item in any liquid for longer than the amount of time you are stirring/whisking/washing it. Only wash by hand. I use mine every day (for the past 5 months), several times a days, and there is zero cracking or breaking or anything of the sort.Overall, a great set of Bamboo tools for my tea and coffee!!!! Also, I just discovered a good matcha powder that mixes with cold liquids here on Amazon ] that works well with this set. 5I'm very happy the Bamboo set for Matcha teaI'm very happy the Bamboo set for Matcha tea. The quality is good, it's authentic and it works well. I use the bamboo pieces every morning to mix organic matcha powder with a little water and some almond milk. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that I think it would be great if directions were included with the kit. I learned how to use it on my own, but it would have been extra helpful and interesting to learn how the product is traditionally used. 4A wonderfully affordable, good quality set of Matcha tools! The Matcha Whisk Set arrived quickly, and exactly as expected and advertised. High quality 'golden' bamboo, well made. This is hard to beat for the price/quality. The reseller BambooMN enjoys a high rating for good reason. The Chashaku (measuring scoop) is quite long, and nicely curved. I really like the ergonomics of this one. Most that you find are straight handled, with only the scoop curved up. This has a nice long sweeping curve along the handle that makes scooping and pouring out the powder very easy. The first time I attended a family tea ceremony in Japan they used this curved, ergonomic style, so it's authentic. The whisk itself is good quality. The tips are having a little difficulty recurring themselves on the ceramic holder I purchased for it, but it's nothing extraordinary. In fact the entire set is above average quality all around. Highly recommended to start your Matcha explorations with!If you are looking for high quality Matcha, some of the best Matcha (and Japanese green teas in general) in the world are produced by the Ippodo Tea Company out of Kyoto. They're a 300-year-old company, and 6th generation just since they changed their name to Ippodo.Their teas can get a little pricey at the higher end, but even their medium-quality teas are head and shoulders above the rest.I had the great pleasure of visiting their main tea house in Kyoto earlier this year. Fantastic teas. You can order their products in North America (at pretty close to the same price you'd pay in Japan), from an authorized outlet called "Menos Store" (search online). A number of resellers offer it here on Amazon as well. When ordering here, my only caution would be to make sure you check the "best by" dates when you receive them. If it's too near or past that date, send it back! That said, Ippodo teas tend to have a shorter 'best by' period because of their quality and utter lack of additives.Enjoy! 5now I know that buying these tools are 100% worth itI never believe in needing to buy extra things that I feel are gimmicky just for a company to make a buck, I have been a green tea matcha lover for a few years now and love making my own ice green tea lattes at home instead of spending an arm and leg to get one at starbucks everyday. ANYWAYS, I FINALLY gave in and got this set because it took me a while to get the froth I needed from mixing the matcha with a straw or spoon, and now I understand why people recommend getting the bamboo whisker... it changes everything. Makes it so much easier to mix, creates the PERFECT froth, easy to use, INSANELY EASY TO CLEAN, and I believe makes the latte taste better. I'm telling you, it's worth getting this set. It's affordable AND actually really good quality. I'm a very happy customer:) 5
