Customer Reviews

Gorgeous and functional! I had been trying to get my hands on this beauty since I first saw the swatch on Michael's website. It was always sold out in stores and online or the price was crazy inflated everywhere I checked, including here but I put it in my "Save for Later" and kept an eye on it like I was doing in several other places. Finally, when I was making the rounds, I found it here on Amazon for the same price as in store! I was ecstatic and bought a few skeins. I had no idea what I wanted to do with it, I just knew that I needed it in my life.Once I had it in hand, I was in love! All of the yarn in this line is super squishy soft but this color is one of the softest and squishiest they have, its a little piece of a gorgeously cerulean and chocolate brown cloud in your hands. After having this yarn in my collection for a very long time and working on many different projects, the perfect project for this yarn. My husband and I are about six foot tall so finding a lap blanket that we can cuddle under is impossible. We usually use a queen sized blanket from the bed but its so big and moving it back and forth is a pain in the lazy person. I found a beautiful chevron pattern and decided to pair it with Taupe, Light Teal and Vintage White Bernat Blanket Yarns and I went to town!Long story made a little longer, I went a little crazy and the blanket ended up being queen sized and I will post a photo once I get a decent one. :) A wonderful side effect is that I started it in August and finished it in November, right as it got cold. It turned out so warm, so cuddly and has an amazing heavy weight to it, (which I love because my husband is a long haul truck driver and doesn't get to be home much and it makes me feel cuddled at night. Maybe that's a little weird, maybe you relate, doesn't matter.)The only downside I forsee is trying to wash this behemoth. The finished blanket is so big and weighs so much that I'm not certain the local industrial washers and dryers at the local laundromat much less my home machines. So that will be an adventure...Overall, I absolutely adore this yarn. This specific one is gorgeous and the whole line is versatile, fun and easy to work with. Besides this blanket, I've made several baby blankets, scoodies, slippers, scarves, ornaments, amigurumis, all kinds of things. 5Five Stars Just love it ...nice quality very fluffy and soft. 5If you're looking for softness, and extraordinary colors you'll find them here! As much as this yarn is advertised for baby blankets, it can do so much more. I've made many throws and toss pillows for friends (and myself) and enjoy the feel of it, especially while reading or watching TV on a chilly night. You feel like you're wrapped in a cloud. However, even using large needles, it takes several skeins, so it's best to buy as many as you can at once, because when you order additional ones, the dye lots can be quite different. And it does take a lot. For a decent sized throw, you should figure on needing at least seven or eight, at least. But they hold up well and the colors are magnificent. Every time they come up with a new one, I try to think who I might know who could use a pillow or an aphghan! 5I have made so many blankets with this using a ... I have made so many blankets with this using a marshmallow stitch and I keep getting more requests! Warm and soft, does not fall apart. The second is the Plum Fields. 5love, love ,love Bernat Blanket Yarn. Since discovering Bernat blanket yarn I don't use anything else. It doesn't shed fibers or make you sneeze. It's very soft and machine washable and dryer safe.It works up quickly and I have even used two strands on large needles to make beautiful chunky knit blankets. Comes in many beautiful colors. 5My favorite bulky yarn, soft hand and easy to work with. I recently ordered eight 10.5 oz skeins of Sailors Delight at Amazon's incredible add-on price. I plan on knitting a throw blanket and a triangle shawl with it, and I'm just about finished with the shawl right now. Bernat Blanket yarn is the absolute best for blankets, shawls and throws. It is incredibly soft and does not shed or pill, as does other bulky acrylic yarns. The resulting article made from this yarn is similar to a fleece blanket or pullover. It is very warm. The only negatives that I've come across with this particular shade (Sailors Delight) is an inconsistency in the density of the yarn and some fading of the variegated colors. My shawl uses two big balls, and the yarn from the first ball had a solid density and good color saturation. When I attached the second ball to my work and completed a couple of long rolls, I noticed that the yarn grew thinner and less dense, and the color saturation was more faded. Perhaps this particular ball was wound at the end of a manufacturing run, who knows. But because it was noticeably different, I unraveled the rows and changed out the ball for another one. Other than this issue, the yarn is perfect. In case anyone is wondering about how much to order for a simple garter knit triangle shawl (37" x 66"), I've completed a previous shawl using four 5.3 oz balls in Harvest and am finishing up my current project using two 10.5 oz balls in Sailors Delight. Hope this helps. 4Is this common or buyer beware? Love th Bernat Blanket yarn and bought 4 balls of the Harvest to make thier Easy Peasie Blanket. Unfortunately, two of the balls I received are poor quality, one was stringy and knotted easily and the other was tied/pieced together in several places. Is this a common thing with yarn and I've just been lucky so far, or should this be a buyer beware for the seller? Either way, I'm not happy that my blanket has knot spots in it. 1color differences in some balls I originally bought 2 balls of this to start on a large project, realized that I'd vastly miscalculated the amount of yarn I needed, and ordered 6 more balls. The original 2 came in a plastic wrap and matched the color in the description. When the other 6 came, 4 were individually wrapped and the same color, but 2 were not wrapped at all and a slightly darker color. The patterns on the sleeve were also different. The yarn felt the same and the labels looked legitimate, so I'm not sure what happened. I don't care much about it because I'm making something for myself, but I could see this being an issue in other situations. 3Very soft The yarn was so nice and soft. I have never worked with this type of yarn before, however it was easy to work with. I used crochet hook Q and I made my husband a nice throw. I have a bit of yarn leftover and I bought 4 skeins. The throw measures approximately 36" x 79". He loves it and loves how soft it is.The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because in 2 of the skeins I found the yarn must have broke and it was tied together. One skein had 2 areas that were tied together. I get very disappointed when I see this, especially with higher priced yarn. 4So soft and squishy!! Best yarn EVER!! So soft and squishy. I've knit and crocheted with it. And at $7 a big ball this was a steal compared to Joanns. Walmart, etc. I love when I don't have to leave my house with my small kids for things like this! In the picture is at least 100+ chains long, 15+ rows hdc, 1 and 1/2 balls used. Also this yarn washes amazingly in the washing machine and dryer. I have another blanket for my kids that is washed all the time. 5
