Customer Reviews

Bad news fire sock will ruin your life.DO NOT BUY THIS MATTRESS! The mattress itself is great for the price. It won't rival the newer online shops, but the price can't be beat. However, if you order this mattress do NOT for ANY reason remove the protective cover (the one that zips around the whole thing). Underneath is a silica glass fire sock which will infect everything in your house with small fibers that will cause itching and respiratory problems in anything that comes into contact with it. It is a nightmare. Have to throw out so many things. Clothing. Bedding. Furniture. I'm seriously concerned about my health because I've breathed these small glass-like fibers in and I've developed a cough that I can't get rid of. I can feel the fibers in my throat like when a hair gets stuck, but finer and not removable. This is seriously bad news stuff. The mattress was fine until the protective cover was removed, but once it's off you practically have to move. 13yrs later...3years after purchase... I don t usually wait so long to write a review but we re talking about a mattress here.Opening: The memory foam was easy to unpack and took 24hrs to fully expand to size. There was a smell upon first opening but it was gone by the next day.6months in: The mattress was holding up great.1yr in: I thought I was going crazy that I could feel the metal frame of our bed frame through the mattress. I felt like it was starting to loose support but not enough to where I lost sleep over it.2yrs in: Now my husband agreed we could DEFINITELY feel the metal through the mattress. We flipped it regularly and still didn t help. Why didn t we buy a new mattress?!?!3yrs in: Holy hell my back, thighs, legs, neck hurts to the point where I d rather sleep on the hardwood floor. We probably (DEFINITELY) should have called it quits a long time ago. Someone tell me why we waited so long?!?!Final Thoughts: This mattress is like a crappy boyfriend. You know you should have broken up with him a long time ago and can t figure out why you stuck around. Don t waste your time on this. Do yourself a favor and find a mattress you can commit to. 1Great bed, fiberglass sock nothing to worry aboutRead most of the reviews and caught this while it was on sale for Christmas at $293. This is one of the best beds I've ever owned. It has enough support but it's not too hard. I was a little concerned after reading the bad reviews about the fiberglass sock falling apart but discovered that most all memory foam mattresses have this and it is pretty standard because it is needed for fire prevention. Took a look at the fiberglass sock when I first got the mattress, and it didn't look like anything to be concerned about but just in case I bought a bedbug mattress enclosure that I never plan on taking off anyway so I won't ever have to worry about it. I think it's only idiots that take off original mattress enclosure to wash it that have this problem. If it were a regular mattress that didn't have any enclosure you'd be replacing your mattress anyway after your dog pissed on it... 5FIBERGLASS EVERYWHERE!!!! DO NOT BUYThis mattress contains fiberglass and it contaminated everything and made life miserable! Slept on mattress for 8 months, the last 2 months I began to itch all day every day and thought maybe it was just the weather. One night out of curiosity I shined a light on the mattress and immediately saw THOUSANDS of fiberglass strands everywhere. In sum, I had to throw away all sheets pillows, comforter, mattress, and even my clothes. There's still fiberglass all over my room I am going to have to pay someone to remove (hopefully they can), and I'm still miserably itchy. 1Great for making cushions in Boats or RV'sI ordered a foam mattress from Amazon to make a couple of beds in the van. The queen mattress measured 80" x 60" x 6" and was constructed from three layers of different types of foam. (memory, soft, and firm) It also included a couple of covers over the foam, that I may be able to use part of for by van cushion. The plan was to cut each van mattress at 74" x 30" x 6" to fit the two beds. I had some experience with foam, as I've previously cut another brand of mattress for the V-berth in my sailboat. In my last attempt I found it very difficult to keep the cuts perpendicular to the top surface of the foam. Since the electric knife had cut very well before, I decided to use it, but also attach a square to the side of the electric knife to solve the perpendicularity problem. I just used a simple combination of a hose clamp and shims to simply hold the the square to the knife handle. I also spent more time on setting up a dual table fixture for the foam that supported both sides of the cut. This all worked very well together. The other problem I had with my last attempt was that the layers in the previous mattress were only glued on the edges, which forced me to glue the layers back together with stinky contact cement. I was lucky with this brand of mattress from Amazon because all three layers were completely glued everywhere I cut. I highly recommend this particular mattress if you are planning to make boat or RV cushions. This foam mattress comes in several thickness and bed sizes to fit your application. It also seems very comfortable to lay on and has no odor. 5Best Bed I've Slept in!!!!(General Disclaimer): Bed comfortability is a subjective thing! What may be a great fit for me, may not be a great fit for you! Please know that when reviewing a bed and when selecting a bed. Than being said, let's get on to the review.(What I came from):I've owned a memory foam mattress for at least 6 years. My old mattress was more on the softer side of things, so much so that whenever I slept on my stomach (rare) I'd need an extra pillow on my torso for support, otherwise stomach would sink into the bed. After a few years I ended up flipping the mattress and sleeping on the "hard/support" foam, which was still soft, but not as soft as the side I was supposed to be sleeping on. My body got used to the soft foam, but I knew I needed firm, yet soft support.(The Review):Enter the "Best Price Mattress 12-Inch Memory Foam Mattress" (Full). I was careful when selecting this mattress; I checked the average positive review, made sure that the negative ones weren't criticizing for the wrong reasons (e.g. expecting a soft mattress when this one is under the "firm" search category), made sure that the positive review mentioned things that I needed (Firm but not hard, supportive yet soft, no pressure points), and this mattress fits the bill! This mattress seems very firm at first, in fact it took my body a day or two to get used to this bed, now, I don't want to get up in the morning! It's sooo comfy. I woke up this morning and stayed an extra hour and a half in bed because it's so comfy lol. But uest it is firm, so it supports your body well, BUT, when you're in bed, and your body heat warms the mattress, it quickly softens and molds to your body.I'm mostly a side sleeper and this mattress does not give me sore shoulders, in fact, I've so far woken up in the same position I've slept in and that's RARE for me, so this mattress is very good and eliminating pressure points and supporting your body.(Unboxing): Was pretty painless, although I had to use a knife because when cutting through the tape I accidentally slightly cut the mattress and it expanded slightly. But once I got it out of the box and the bag, it pretty much expanded to its full size almost instantly. That's just for me though, so don't expect it to expand instantly for you.For me, I can sleep on this bed on all positions, sides and back seem to be best. Keep in mind that all bodies are different and for me, this works perfectly. If any of what you read is what you're looking for in a bed, please, feel free to purchase this mattress. My Body type: Male, '5 "10, 230Lbs, 5FIBER GLASS DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!DO NOT BUY!!! THIS IS A HEALTH HAZARD!!! This mattress has fiber glass on the inside cover. I washed the outside cover twice and have recenty started to notice little sparkly specs on my sheet . I came back to look at the reviews here and saw that it was indeed fiber glass. I have purchased two of these mattresses and will be throwing them both out tomorrow. If I would have known fiber glass was in this product I never would have purchased them as it is not listed anywhere in the description of the product materials!! Absolutely disgusting that a company is allowed to put a a harmful material in their product that can cause respiratory issues and not be held responsible. 1Fiberglass got everywhereWe were happy with this mattress until we removed the cover to wash it. The mattress itself is encased in fiberglasss which promptly spread everywhere: our clothes and floors were covered in tiny shiny fibers that made us itch and cough. I worry about what our lungs might look like. This mattress and many others like it seems like a health hazard. 1I too was exposed to fine fiberglass particles[Edited 11/24/18 - see bottom]So, we have had this mattress for two years and noticed that it was getting lumpy. We could feel something knotted up under the cover. So I pulled it back to find that the firesock was in pieces and completely degraded. Now, I know what fiberglass looks like, I have worked with it in boats, cars, insulation, etc. This did not look or feel like fiberglass, it looked like fine blonde toddler hair. I started cleaning out the clumps of material that I assumed was some sort of a polyester fabric. I then got a vacuum cleaner involved to get the small stuff up. It was not until a bit of sunlight popped through the window that I realized the air was full of fiberglass particles. At this point I had been working in it and breathing it for at least 30 minutes. So I grabbed a high-power LED flashlight and discover that I was covered head to toe and our bedroom wall to wall in fine fiberglass.I previously had a more expensive USA made memory foam mattress and it was wrapped in what looked like panty hose material. We had slept on it for over 15 years and it had never worn through and it was not fiberglass. I discussed this with a friend of mine who works in the industry and he said that more brands than you might think are using fiberglass, but they are almost always the cheaper or over-seas manufactured stuff. He says that I should steer clear of any model that uses it because it simply will not last as I have experienced with this mattress. He says that fiberglass is cheap and will pass the fire certification test, but unfortunately there are no regulations that deal with the longevity or results of using it in a mattress.I have been ill for days coughing stuff up and feel like I have pneumonia. According to the doctor, it will clear with time but will likely leave some permanent damage. It is not dangerous in terms of coal mining dust or asbestos, but he says there is little research on its long-term effects. So if you have this mattress and it starts getting the lumps from the fire sock breaking down, just toss it in the garbage and move on. DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER! I know it has a zipper, just convince yourself that it does not.I do not remember reading anything about this when I received the mattress. I am looking for the limited documentation that shipped with it to verify if there were warnings about this.[11/24/18]We purchased a new bed, so while I was having this one removed, I snapped photos of the tags and have added them here. As you can see, it clearly says that the inner cover, known as a "Fire Sock", is made of glass. It also says that the outer cover is removable for cleaning. However, DO NOT DO IT! It only says not to remove the inner cover, but what else can you do if it starts breaking and clumping the way ours did? I am still having issues with breathing. I had asthma as a kid and have needed to use an inhaler a couple of times a week since this fiasco. I did find the original paperwork, but it was just instructions on how to allow the mattress to inflate to full size before using. I wish Amazon did not sell these and I am disappointed when I see similar ones at box stores like Wal-Mart. Buyer beware. 1I believe the disappointed reviewers were uninformed consumersUPDATE 03/24/17: This mattress is AHmazing! It's cushy so I understand why extracurricular activities are not easily accomplished but I think adding an eggcrate foam to it would help. I haven't slept this well in three years! I have a vinyl backed mattress protector on it, so I do get warm sometimes. However, I think it's more from the vinyl than the mattress. And it's not terrible warm either. Will definitely recommend to everyone I know.Delivery was disappointing. My bed was scheduled to arrive Tuesday March 14 and it didn't ship til late Monday night March 13. So it didn't arrive til Friday March 17.That aside, I am really excited about this bed. To prospective buyers, please do your research on memory foam mattresses so you know what to expect. I believe the disappointed reviewers were uninformed consumers. To start, this mattress arrives in a large box, weighing about 60 lbs. I literally flipped it up the stairs, head over heels, to my room by myself. It comes in a tarp like material, compression bag. Pull it out and put the mattress where you want it. The compression bag can be ripped along the seam to remove the mattress. There will be another clear plastic wrap compressing the mattress. Cut it off once you have the bed in position. It will begin to decompress once exposed to air. There was a slight smell to it when I opened the bag but nothing overwhelming. And I have a super sensitive nose. The mattress comes zipped in a flame retardant cover. It says it can be washed but from other reviews, I would just put a removable, washable mattress cover/bag on it. That way, you are protecting the inner mattress and get to keep the cover clean.Within about 10 minutes, the mattress looked and measured like it was fully decompressed but when I sank to the bottom, I knew it needed more time. Proper research will show memory foam mattresses need 48-72 hours to fully decompress. But only if they were compressed to begin with. As the hours went by, the mattress got firmer. It's been 12 hours and there's still a faint smell. The mattress is firmer but I will wait the required time so that I don't ruin it. From what I can tell by lying on it briefly, it feels like a dream. So far so good. Great price and my first memory foam. But please do the research so you know what to expect. You will be glad you did. 4
