Customer Reviews

No way is it worth the money.I owned and used one of these for several years. It's all and all okay. But not worth the money by a long ways. For the price, one would expect (and I did) it would be capable of high production juice and last many years. But it does neither. It is just like any of the juicers out there in that it is designed for a low level of juice production and the more you use it, it gets stressed and falls apart. Mine lasted about 2 years before it started falling apart and now it finally quit after about 5 years. Well, I suppose one could consider that is the life expectancy of such a unit, but heck, I can buy one for 50 bucks and get the same performance. Skip it. 2I had to return juicer after only 3 uses because ...I had to return juicer after only 3 uses because it started overheating and turning off in the middle of my juicing. I would barely juice 1 cup of juice when it would shut off. The $45 juicer I previously used could juice for over an hour and never shut off while this $180 juicer couldn't even juice for 5-10 min. 1this caused me a lot of frustration because when I bought this product I was sure it was one of the best on the marketI am a customer of amazom a long time, I bought this product to bring to Brazil when I arrived and I went to use the device I had the unfortunate surprise that it did not work correctly. this caused me a lot of frustration because when I bought this product I was sure it was one of the best on the market. I need to know how I should proceed since I'm only going to return to the United States in June. if need be I can make a video. thank you so much 1This shaft is made with poor quality of plastic and no matter how strong the ...The product is delivered to my home on Oct.31,2017.It is a solid build looking appliance, however, after less than five pounds of orange press the drive shaft cracked. Not a small crack but a long vertical fracture. This shaft is made with poor quality plastic and no matter how strong the rest machine is made of, this ilittle shaft is an manufacture overlook and consumer disappointment .I called USA number on the back of the User Guide but only was put on hold for a long time. Finally I give up holding left my calling back number with the answering system and come here to write a report.I hope Breville could see this and advise me what to do with the defected appliance. 1Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless Steel Citrus Juicer Is A GREAT ProductThis is a wonderful citrus juicer. I have had various electric juicers for more than 30 years, and this one is a real winner. For years now, each month I purchase boxes of fresh Indian River citrus just off the trees, which are shipped to me beginning in November of each year from Al's Family Farms in Fort Pierce, Florida. (Al's is a great company, by the way) I juice Ruby Red Grapefruit, Navel Oranges, Temple Oranges, Unique Oranges, and my favorite Valencia Oranges in the spring. That's a lot of juicing! This Breville juicer makes mincemeat of the job of getting juice out of this wonderful citrus. The juicer parts are super easy to take off and put back together, and are dishwasher safe. The juicer comes out of the dishwasher looking brand new. It does a great job of keeping seeds and excess pulp from the pouring spout. The machine has a lever that is pulled down onto a sliced piece of citrus, and even a person with severe arthritis could operate this easily. The machine gets EVERY drop of juice out of the citrus almost effortlessly. I was sold after using it one time. For decades, I had electric juicers that felt like you were doing a workout at the gym when juicing. This juicer is so easy to use. The Breville does not spill juice or splatter, and the juicing area stays clean. I am so glad I bought this juicer. It is pricey, but what a huge step up in quality! 5Easy to juice oranges withNovember 2018 ... I ordered this item which was described as Made in the USA, and also described as having an extra strainer and a dust cover. The item I received was made in China and the extra strainer and dust cover were not included. The first time I used the machine (one entire orange) the outer part of the motor shaft came loose. Ugh!Had a replacement sent out which arrived promptly and returned the defective first one. Replacement also made in China and has no extra items included. (Boooo!)That being said, so far the replacement Breville Citrus Press is working just fine, and even tho the description of the item on the Amazon website is misleading, I can still (so far) highly recommend this juicer. Brushed stainless steel, except for the under surface of the cap which pushes down on the half citrus fruit which is plastic. Easy to use. Easy to take apart and clean. I use the top rack of dishwasher to clean the removable parts with good results. The strainer that comes with the unit filters out most of the pulp. The catch pan under the strainer has a spout that can be flipped up to prevent dripping on the counter if needed, such as when putting another container under the spout. The presser arm makes the process of juicing oranges easy. I press on the pressure arm gently, hold it there for a few seconds, then am pleased to see the rind is the only thing left. All of the orange has been juiced. Using a small spoon I fish out some of the pulp from the strainer after about 6-8 oranges, which takes little time and effort. If I find problems with this replacement item I will add to this review.February 2019 ... well, after using my replacement item every day for 3 months I can report that the replacement is working just fine. No problems to report. I really like this juicer. I use it to make fresh orange juice every morning, 7 days a week, for my entire family and we all love our fresh orange juice. (Thank goodness for the produce section of our local big box chain store which starts with a C and which sells California grown navel oranges by the box.) If it was made in USA instead of China, and had come with the extra filter screen and dust cover as originally advertised, I would have given this product a 5 star rating. 4Breville vs. Cuisinart...Breville is the clear winner!I initially purchased the Cuisinart CCJ-500 Pulp Control Citrus Juicer which was the least expensive product with good reviews; however, after struggling with this flimsy product, I broke down and splurged on the Breville juicer. I think starting with the Cuisinart really made me appreciate the Breville juicer even more.1. The Cuisinart has a flimsy plastic cone, straining basket and drip pan. It required a good bit of pressure when juicing. That was fine with the first fruit half, but when juicing multiple halves, it became quite tiresome. The Cuisinart took about a minute or so to juice a half a fruit. The Breville's lever design allowed for quick juicing within seconds with very little pressure.2. The Cuisinart requires you to firmly hold the fruit half in place while you are juicing, whereas the Breville's lever and pointed cone keep the fruit half securely in place. This is an important feature when juicing items with a slick surface. With the Cuisinart, occasionally my hand would slip while holding the fruit half in place. The machine would grumble and tilt. The plastic pieces come off fairly easily, so it became quite frustrating. In stark contrast, the Breville is a beast! It is solidly built with effortless juicing and no struggling to keep fruit halves in place.3. Cleanup with the Cuisinart was a little daunting. The strainer basket has a lip which seems to catch pulp and seeds. The seeds would lodge themselves in the lip and were a nuisance to remove. Again, in stark contrast, the Breville's stainless steel strainer basket took seconds to clean! It is clear Breville is by far superior to the flimsy Cuisinart. I recall learning of levers in high school and how they reduce workload. The people at Breville employ the lever design with this juicer to make juicing simple and easy. The quality of this product actually makes it worth the hefty price. If I had kept the Cuisinart, I don't think I would have stayed with using fresh juice. It was simply a struggle. With Breville, juicing is easy and quick. Bravo Breville! 5Go commercial instead!Died after minimal use. Unit would get very hot and not work for a while. Now there is a burned rubber smell. My return window with Amazon is closed, so I will have to deal direct with Breville on repair/replacement. If juicing more than 30 pieces of fruit I would look elsewhere. 1Orange Juice Nirvana!Over the years I've become a orange juice snob. I started with Tropicana and the like when I was very young. Twenty plus years ago I discovered Odwalla when it was a tiny firm in Santa Cruz CA. I really liked their juice. But then I started splurging with fresh squeezed juice from the market. That was even better than Odwalla, but if you don't drink fresh juice within a couple of days it starts to taste funny -- it actually begins to ferment. So I read the reviews on this Breville and decided to give it a try. This is an expensive juicer but TOTALLY WORTH EVERY CENT. It is so easy to use and particularly easy to clean up. I make a glass of juice every morning using one or two oranges. I can do this in less than a minute. I remove and rinse the three stainless steel components in less than a minute. That's all there is to it! My juice is always fresh and keeping whole oranges is a great way to store what eventually becomes your fresh juice. This was so impressive I bought one for my sister and will be buying one for my son.I am now in Orange Juice Nirvana!! 5Good juicer but one particular part lacks the quality I expect.I do like this machine. It juices citrus fruits fast. It catches the pulp in this strainer and you don't have to keep emptying the strainer because of these two fins the keep circling through it ensuring the juice flows though even as the pulp builds. It can handle a lot of citrus fast. My only complaint about it, is the part that juices the fruit fits onto a plastic hexagon rod. That plastic rod isn't very strong and doesn't look like it can hold up. In fact, the first one I got, the rod was damaged on the first try with it. Perhaps there was a little user error in that maybe the juicer part wasn't lined up on the rod correctly but the fact that the rod got damaged so easily is a little disconcerting. The whole item is built out of good materials, is weighty and seems high quality except for this critical part. I got it replaced and have not had any issues with the new one, but I'm a little paranoid. Still this may be the best citrus juicer available in how well and fast it works. 4
