    Beautiful Buffet Beautiful buffet with a rich color. Looks nice in our dining room. Drawers are a little on the small side (inside measures 9" x 10.5") that no silverware tray fit but if you are crafty enough, you can make it work. Very roomy behind the 2 doors. We were able to put this together in about 2 1/2 hours. The directions were easy enough to follow and we did use wood glue even though it did not call for it. 5Perfect size for our small kitchen, really good piece. We love this cabinet! It has an elegant "polished-rustic" look that is perfect for what we wanted. It's heavy duty and very stable. We have it next to our fridge so we cannot anchor it to keep from tipping, but don't feel that's necessary at all with it sitting on solid floor. We got the Cottage Oak color and it is just as pictured. It definitely took 2 people and a couple of hours to put it together. Everything worked as it should, the directions were just fine, and the hardware was clearly marked. The only problem we had was that some of the cam bolts didn't lock right at first. We backed them out a bit (made them stick out longer) and they worked just fine. That was only about 4 or 5 that we had to adjust, most of them worked fine the first try. The drawers lined up very nicely. The lower doors are not aligned perfectly and there is no adjustment in the hinges; it would be really nice if there was! But I'm sure I can line them up with a shim or two on the inner hinge where it won't show. My husband doesn't mind it at all, and he's usually pickier than me about that stuff, so maybe I'm just being too fussy : )) 5Missing Inserts I love the way this piece looks but it is not sturdy. Three of the inserts that you screw into the "b" side were gone so I had to use super glue and it has made it considerably less sturdy. I am fairly handy so putting it together wasn't a huge deal but I wasn't expecting it to show up in 60 different pieces either. The size of the box it comes in is almost as big as it is once put together, why not just ship it that way? The drawers are also pretty wonky so I might just get out some wood screws and go gangster on it to make it right. 2A great piece of furniture I just finished putting this thing together and I am impressed. If I could shave half a star off my rating, I would but, let it stand. I am impressed by how well this thing is engineered. This is not the first piece of knock-down furniture I've assembled but it is one of the best and I'm really glad that I bought it. If you follow the instructions, step by step, you should have a pretty good assembly experience but I have a few caveats to share. First one is that you probably ought to have someone help you with it. I did it by myself, working off the tail gate of my truck so that everything was at eye level and on a surface (the bed liner) that wouldn't scratch the finish. But this is a heavy piece of furniture and at a couple of steps along the way, you need about five hands to hold the pieces in place. In lieu of the extra appendages, here is some advice: The instructions say that the only tools you need are a Phillips head screw driver and a spirit level. They supply an Allen wrench. To that, I would suggest you have a short, ratcheting Philips head screwdriver (they're cheap enough) with a medium to small sized bit. There are a lot of screws to drive. I also found a pipe clamp and a framing square (not a speed square) to be helpful along the way. The base cabinet (buffet) and the hutch both have back panels that are assembled out of five pieces of wood; two pieces of thin wood that have to be inserted into three grooved framing members. The instructions say that the eight screws for each panel should not be inserted until the rest of the pieces have been assembled. The reason is to make sure the parts are all level before you screw them down. Well, fine, but that's where you need five hands if you're doing it their way. Instead of worrying about "level" just make sure your work is square, using the pipe clamp and the framing square (remember, your floor may not be level). Then run the screw into the holes and you will have one solid panel to which you can attach the other parts. Otherwise, I don't see how it would not fall to pieces during assembly. Another tip: When I assembled the back panel of the hutch, I squared one side and held it in place with two of the screws. Then I used the pipe clamp to hold the other pieces together while I made sure the holes in the wood frame actually lined up with the cams and dowels on the respective side boards (the parts with the hinges). At first, they didn't but as I backed off pressure on the pipe clamp, the work opened up so that the holes lined up perfectly with the dowels and cams. Then I ran the other six screws into the wood before removing the clamp. Everything fit together very smoothly after that and I had no more issues with the assembly. Another tip: Take your time with this and study the instructions. There are a lot of parts and plenty of opportunities to assemble them the wrong way. I wish they had included instruction pictures of greater resolution than the drawings, an on-line video, or at least some stickers on the parts to distinguish "back" from "front." I had assembled the entire buffet when I discovered that I had inserted the drawer divider backwards. I wanted to cry. Fortunately, the top came off easily. I loosened the cams on the upper end of the buffet and was able to spread the parts just far enough to pull out the divider and switch it around. Otherwise, I would have had to disassemble the whole thing. And my final tip: Do NOT use glue. 5Very nice piece of furniture. Couple minor glitches. Finished item looks like fine furniture, and not like a kit. I've put kit furniture together before, so this item was a no-brainer for me. Just take it slow so you don't make any mistakes. If you've never put kit furniture together before, the instructions might be confusing. Some mirror image parts are nearly impossible to tell apart without the (A) and (B) and (C) labels on them, and if you mix them up, the finished piece won't look right, so be careful. But I was able to tell what goes where just by glancing at the diagrams. The finished item looks like a fine piece of furniture that you'd buy from an expensive furniture store. Overall, very well made and high quality finish. Other "real wood" kit furniture I've put together still uses cardboard or particle board or other garbage in hidden areas, but everything here is real wood even the backs and hidden pieces. I might even buy another to have a matching pair in my kitchen.Two flaws, though.1.) Some of the hardware bits that hold it together are those round metal thingys that you push into a hole and then slide a bolt through another hole to then twist and latch onto (those of you who've put kit furniture together know what I'm talking about). Those things work loose after a few years and your furniture falls apart like a house of cards. After I put this together, I took it apart again and glued it together with Gorilla Glue before bolting it back together. Problem solved!2.) There's a thin tongue of wood on the left door. This means you have to close the left door before you can close the right door. I suppose it exists to hide the gap between doors when they're closed. Well, this wood tongue was warped and wouldn't let the right door stay closed. I just pulled it off. Problem solved, though it left a narrow unfinished strip of bare wood on the inside of the left door. 4More Than Satisfied I purchased this item for our cabin, after first reading the reviews. I felt it would be the best match for our decor, and hoped any problems from previous reviews would have been corrected. It exceeded my expectations. Ordered and delivered in four days. Very sturdy construction, it's quite a heavy piece, and well thought out for ease of assembly. Drawer glides already installed, and doors slip right into the installed hinges. Real glass in the hutch doors. Very nice looking piece and good quality for the price. The only problem was that the microwave plug wouldn't fit through the hole for electric cords. It's good for two pronged flat plugs only.Fortunately we had the tools to alter that. 5Quality hutch/buffet at a reasonable price! This is a high-quality piece of furniture! Sturdy, attractive, and perfect for my needs. I used Amazon s furniture assembly service, and I m glad I did, as this would have been a bit complicated for one senior and non-carpenter to put together (but it appears the instructions were clear and concise and all the parts well-labeled my pro even commented on it - he was impressed). The item arrived quite securely packed, in 3 boxes - the countertop was 12 pounds, the hutch was about 66 pounds, and the buffet was a little over 77 pounds, so make sure you have help if there are stairs! All the pieces were included and in perfect condition, and my pro assembled it in about 3 hours. The dimensions were exactly as indicated, and it arrived quickly. Very pleased! I would order a Home Styles piece again. 5Fiberglass all over?? This is a solid nice piece. But a huge problem with it is how ours arrived covered in micro shards of what looks like fiberglass. It was EVERYWHERE stuck to it like it had been in a blizzard of fiberglass. Regardless of how they make this piece, that is NOT safe or health code, we had glass pieces in oue hands for weeks and it itched and hurt. We have kids to make it even worse. Have no idea why but this was not a pleasant experience for this reason. 2Horrible Customer Service!!! Better Now :-) This is in fact a really nice piece of furniture, however it was delivered without the top. I went to the resolution area and homestyles-furniture.com is the contact information. I emailed them and the response was flat out no discussion... Bought it from Amazon..Contact them! Amazon handled it with no problems inside of ten minutes! This was the second buffet I bought and the customer service representative from homestyles-furniture.com saw the first invoice for the first one and stated our records show this was delivered by UPS and so blow smoke.. When I emailed them back explaining this was the second one they stated oh the first one is the only one we have record for and the second one was ordered through Amazon so not our problem!! Horrible company service!!! Thank you Amazon for helping!Update: Tanisha the team lead for customer service at Homestyles-furniture contacted me and the situation was resolved. Very satisfied! I am going to go with the first customer service person was just really young and is now learning how to handle a easy issue and not turn it into a problem. 4Expensive Look at a Low Price I purchased the 29-1/4 wood top buffet with hutch in cottage oak. Fully assembled it looks much more expensive than it is. I have assembled a lot of furniture and this was by far the best quality I have seen so far. It took me about 3-1/2 to 4 hours to put together, but I tend to work slowly so I don t make mistakes.Pros:Assembly parts/screws/fasteners are well-labeledPackaging is top notchIllustrations and directions are brief and clearThere's a nicely done opening built into the bottom of the back of the hutch for an electrical cord, so you can use a microwave with this unit. If you don't use the pass-through for an electrical cord, it's not noticeable. A nice touch in my opinion.It s real wood with a lot of character and a nice top coat finishModern looking and very sturdyCons:The cam screw locks used for the assembly of the unit are adequate, but the quality could be better. They were prone to popping out and it seemed to me that the grade of metal used to make the cam locks was flimsier than it should beThe hutch assembly requires that you balance several interlocking pieces at once and things tend to fall apart. You may want some assistance when you put the hutch togetherThere are small pre-drilled holes along the border on the top surface of the hutch. They look like they were drilled to fit a rail or a decorative molding. They have no purpose as part of the unit I received and can't be seen since the hutch sits 71" high, so it wasn't a big deal to me. Only a spider on the ceiling would notice, so I did not deduct any starsThe doors appear slightly misaligned on mine, but it is hardly noticeable as the overall look is so polishedOverall a high quality piece of furniture at a great price point. I was so impressed that I bought a matching server for the other side of the kitchen. The second order for the server was as well packed as the first and matched perfectly. I attached a pictures so you can see how they look. It's hard to find narrow pre-fab furniture that looks high end, so I was very happy to find these on on Amazon. 5
