Great for cooking medum sized meals. I had bought an 8-quart dutch oven before, but it was too big to make smaller meals. This 5 quart fits the bill, and I like how sturdy it is. It will last me a very long time. 5edited review at first I liked this. I liked this pan being the size that it was as well as the weight, I liked the lid as well as I can see in there and it seals well, however, after trying various things, this pan seems to burn alot. I thought if I got one with this price tag and this weight, I would be able to simmer things and not have them burn, but this isn't seeming to be the case. IF my time hadnt run out, I would send it back, I wish I had tested it more when I first got it. I don't think its worth the money. 1Lightweight 5 quart pot This is a great pan, but it is quite fragile, and lightweight. There were prominent scratches on the inside surface after the first use, and the food cooked in it was noodle casserole, so nothing that had to be scraped or dug out of it. I'm not impressed with pans that are so fragile you need to use plastics to serve the food. It cooks meals nicely, and the lightweight glass top is convenient. 3The product is a disappointment. The pot is shallow and the bottom is not rounded. Can't recommend this. 2Beautiful pot Not only beautiful but highly functional. The pot is heavy enough to feel solid but much lighter in weight than cast iron. I will continue to braise my roasts in cast iron though as the directions for this pot as well as most stainless steel pots recommend not using the high or power boil stove settings. 5Nice size, great performance In the modern age, finding reviews for any object is easy. Yet it took me 2 years to finalize which 5-quart pot I would squeeze into my kitchen shelf. I settled on this size because I was looking (more like hunting high and low) for something I can cook with that was larger than a 3-quart saucepan and smaller than a stew pot. This fit the bill nicely and its width is small enough to stack a saucepan on top of it in the cabinet.I purchased this gem last year and am very happy with it. The other pots in my collection are also Calphalon Tri-ply so this one matches. It is light weight and easy to wash off (or stick in the dishwasher if you prefer). 5I love the low profile of this pot! This is a terrific pot for quickly boiling just about anything, but I especially love it for mashed potatoes. Nice even heat, and a bonus, my glass lid from another Calphalon (10") frying pan is a perfect fit for those times when I want to make sure what's inside, doesn't come to a full boil. The heavy weight makes it safe for the low and slow method too, no sticking. I love this pan. Great price too. 5Not impressed We have a lot of Calphalon products. However this one seems to be somewhat inferior. I've only used it 2 or 3 times & the bottom is scratched and looks like I've had it for years! All I use is wooden or plastic spoons. It seems the metal is not a very high quality. I would not recommend purchasing this pot. 2Calphalon Tri-ply Stainless 5 quart Dutch oven (Stew pan) I was looking for a round pan in tri-ply stainless. Apparently, Calphalon no longer makes it. The replacement, and the one shown online, had an oval shape - both pans held the same amount, 5 quarts. When the package arrived a was pleasantly surprise it was the original round pan.The price was very good and the delivery was quick. 5Small - dimensions are not the size of the actual product This pot's dimensions are listed as 13 inches etc. These are not the dimensions of the actual product, but probably the dimensions of the box it comes in. The pot itself has a diameter of 10.25 inches or so (I used a ruler). I am just giving this a 4 star review to be fair to the quality of the product itself since I have not used it and don't want to reflect unfairly on that aspect. I bought it to replace a 12 inch pot that I will have to hang on to until I return this and buy another. 4
