My First Ratchet Style Pruning Shears - Love them! These are my first pair of ratchet pruning shears. I typically use tools oversized for the job because I end up breaking the smaller tools so we'll have to wait and see how they hold up. These shears feel really good in my hand and seem to be high quality. The ratcheting action worked very well on some test branches. Plenty of room for work gloves too which is nice. They are well made, sharp blades that easily cut through the stems that need pruning. I usually buy new ratchet shears every spring. These are the best.I just purchased and returned 3 ratchet shears that arrived broken. The problems were with the ratchet and lock. This one is perfect. Sturdy and well made. I rarely write a review of my purchases, but this review may help people to buy the best shears 1st and not waste time with returns. 5Excellent pruners, my very best, 6 stars if I could. I have been pruning my 12 Knockout rose bushes after a damaging winter. It was a struggle for me with my other ratcheting sheers as I have small hands and arthritis in my thumbs. These shears work so well, they are much easier on my hands. Having the enclosed area for fingers makes them easier for me to hold, grip and use. I recommend them highly for anyone, but especially if you have smaller hands or arthritis. 5Didn t even last a full season. Recieved these in late July of 2017. As I bagan spring pruning in 2018, the pin broake and shears are now useless. LOVED them until they broke!Update- received an email from the shipper and they have informed me that they are sending a replacement pair!! Whoo-hoo! As soon as I receive them, I will update this review with more stars(original review had only 1 star)!Within ONE WEEK of reaching out to the company, I received a replacement set of pruners! I've used other shears before, of course, but these slice through whatever I'm pruning with very little effort. I have arthritis but still like to stay active, and these shears make that possible. 5as they are not as easy to use as the other ones Having lost my other ratchet pruners somewhere in the garden, I ordered this pruner ... perhaps it just takes getting used to a slightly different hand tool, and I need to perhaps have them sharpened, as they are not as easy to use as the other ones. But - ratchet pruners are the best ... one can lob off quite a wholesome branch with one hand and there is no need to switch to a larger gardening tool! 4Broke third time used Agree these are wonderful pruners and I loved them. Agree with the other negative reviews that they broke the third time I used them for light duty work. The pin or rivet that attached the handle to the ratchet mechanism broke and was lost in the garden. I repaired them with a small screw and nut I had on hand, but my experience with this type of repair is that it won't last as the screw will work loose eventually. When it does, I will return them for a refund. Too bad, the concept is good.. 1Wow--the ratchet makes a difference! This is my first experience with ratchet pruning shears and they made my job so much easier. I was able to cut through 1/2 inch diameter branches more easily than ever before, as well as some larger than 1/2 inch. Normally, my hand tires quickly and/or I have to wear gloves to protect against blisters, but neither of these were a problem with the ratchet pruning shears. I had several people try these and they were all impressed with how well they worked. These shears are made of metal, and hopefully will last awhile. 5
