Feels like cheap plastic... My husband called this set a piece of junk, the base falls over when the horseshoes hit it. The best thing in this kit is the horseshoes, they are pretty sturdy, everything else feels like cheap plastic. So disappointed, I bought this for my RV trips for the kids, don't waste your money, buy a decent set. 1All horseshoes the same color Horrible my kid was all excited to play horseshoes got the box open dumped it all out on the yard and all 4 horseshoes were blue. How are you supposed to know who scored what with both setsbof shoes being blue. Ill be returning this. How awful 1If you like the smell of gasoline and petroleum, you will love this product! These are horrible smelling. They have a very strong gasoline petroleum type odor. I have left them outdoors for several days hoping this might disseminate it. No such luck. Trust me, no sane person will ever use these indoors..... 1A great solution for apartment life! My neighbors and I are enjoying this, as we live in an apartment complex and cannot put stakes in the lawn as "it will tear up the grass" as our site manager put it. I was tickled pink to find this set! Unfortunately, the round rings don't weigh quite enough to keep it from tipping over about one time in ten or so. However it did add one more game we could play and be light enough for our mixed crowd to handle. I live in a complex of people either disabled or elderly, some both. All games have to be able to be played from wheelchairs, walkers, law chairs, and standing. (Not always to the original rules). We're up to six outdoor games! 4Perfect for casual fun I have no desire to play official horseshoes. When we go family camping I just wanted to toss some horseshoes. These are a heavy rubber / plastic, which is fine by me.I use two pieces of rebar and put a beer can empty on top. "Ringers" make the can ring, 2 points. Ones that land inside the box I draw around the rebar with my boot in the sand, 1 point.The plastic bar things included are garbage. 4Cheap quality I bought these for a camping trip, but we were unable to use them. The red stakes are meant for outdoor use, but they were cheap, hollow plastic. The yellow stakes are for indoor use and seemed a little more sturdy than the outdoor stakes. Neither of them really held up to the weight of the horseshoes, and that is with an 8 and 10 year old throwing the horseshoes. Spend a little more money and get something that actually works. 1He loves horseshoes and this set is perfect since it can be used indoors and out Bought this set my my 15 year old disabled son. He loves horseshoes and this set is perfect since it can be used indoors and out. The shoes are a harder rubber-ish material and do clunk quite a bit on my hardwood floors, but no damage. Great set for a great price and the fact that it can be set up indoors or outdoors. 5Horrific toxic chemical smell. If this wasn't made of toxic smelling plastic from China it would be great. Officially the worst smelling product I've ever bought. Not a normal plastic smell either. We tried airing them out by leaving them ouside for a few weeks but it's still so bad we can't bring them into the house. We immediately wash our hands after handling them because the smell/chemicals transfers, who knows what we're being exposed to. Unfortunate because the game is a great idea! I thought they might air out but should have returned them. 1Lame, not even worth the $15 Not impressed and i guess you get what you pay for.I was hoping i would at least get a few good parts that i could turn into a great game but none of the parts are even worth using. The horse shoes are plastic, and such cheep plastic that they weigh about half of what they should weigh. They are not straight, if you stack them up to compare there is almost a 2" difference between sizes, and you can easily bend them with your hands. The spike is blow mold plastic, even lighter and the rubber mat that they provide is very flexible.Overall the game is unplayable with these parts. If you use the hammer in spikes they may not survive the hammering, and if you get a good toss you may bend one in half on the first turn. If you use the spikes with the rubber mats the mats will let the spike move and fall over with every turn and you will never be able to get a shoe around the spike.I am returning and headed to the local farm store i am sure i can not only get real metal shoes and some spray paint but a nice steel spike for about the same as i paid for this plastic version. 2Good, but not great You really need to buy metal stakes to use these horseshoes. While they are made out of plastic and much lighter than regular horseshoes, they are still rather heavy. The plastic outdoor post and the smaller plastic indoor post with mat are just not strong enough to stay in place when thrown from proper distance. I loved the idea of playing indoors without risk of causing damage but I'm not in love. If you want a lightweight set of horseshoes for the beach or lawn play, as I said, buy metal stakes and these are truly a great alternative.
