Customer Reviews

Good needle Like wooden needles. Earlier on my hands. Yarn doesn't slip off as easily. 5A Good Basic Needle I used the size 1 needle to make a wool hat with sock yarn. I have been using bamboo needles for many years. I like the Takumi circular needles because the cords don't break; I am tough on my needles. The size 1 has a sharp point; I needed a sharp point because I made the stitches very tight. These needles knit up the garment quickly, almost as fast as metal. The bamboo helps keep a consistent gauge even with slippery yarn. They seem to swell slightly in humidity, but this is not a problem with most projects, especially small projects such as socks, mittens, scarves and hats. I knit loosely and I am a fast knitter. Since I knit loosely, the stitches are easy to transfer. But even with the size 1 needle, and tight stitches, I was able to transfer the stitches easily. I like the feeling of the bamboo rather than cold metal. I have noticed that the small needles have a metal piece that connects the needle with the cord; this keeps the cord from breaking away from the needle, and helps with the transfer of the stitches. I don't know if this will be done with the larger sizes. 5I prefer stainless steel These needles had good reviews so I thought I would try them. I needed a pair of 16" circular needles size 13 for a hat pattern with very chunky yarn. These worked but I just don't think the "action" was as smooth as the stainless steel needles I have. Maybe because the size is so thick? I had to actually push the stitches up onto the needle part from the cord every so often which slowed down the flow. The project turned out great though. 3excellent quality It took me a while to get accustomed to using circular needles, but persistence paid off. I love these needles, and highly recommend this brand of bamboo needles. The first couple of times I used these I was worried that the stitches would get twisted on the cords, but I found that just keeping an eye on them and keeping them from twisting by always making sure to keep the stitches hanging toward the center helped enormously. After only a couple of rows of knitting, all the stitches were fine and made no effort to twist.I have been so pleased with this brand of bamboo needles, that I have ordered a number of them, probably a dozen, in various sizes, generally 12" or 16" length.I am "home-schooling" myself in Fair Isle knitting, and the shetland yarns are pretty fine, even finer than sport-spun yarns, so I was pleased to find sizes 1, 2, and 3 in various lengths of this Clover bamboo needle. I am not knitting Fair Isle garments but smaller items, such as sachets to give out as Christmas presents, and knitted postcards for my personal use.For my regular yarn, I find the 4, 5 and 8 sizes to be perfect for my needs, as well. For my bulky woolen yarn, I use size 10 or 10.50.The bamboo is smooth and does not catch on the yarn as one knits. The cords are well attached to the bamboo, and do not curl up when I am knitting. All highly recommended. 5Mold I ve had these for almost two months. I haven t actually used them yet because I ve been working on another knitting project. HOWEVER when I went to get them out today - again, never been used, still in the original package unopened - and they were COVERED in MOLD!! I just don t even understand... I am so disappointed. I love this brand and use it often and have never had this issue...Also- I had to put one star because otherwise I couldn t post this, but I give no stars. 1Clover Takumi Bamboo Knitting Needles After using plastic and aluminum knitting needles, the Clover Takumi Bamboo knitting needles are so much easier to use! I learned how to knit as a child at my grandmother's knees. Back then, the aluminum needles were the "thing" to use. When I picked up knitting, about eight (8) years ago, I experienced the use of bamboo when I purchased my first set of circulars. Wow! What a difference in ease! The yarns did not fall off the needles because there was a certain amount of "grab" in the bamboo, yet they release the yarn off the tips beautifully - when I want it to slide off. An added dimension, if you have arthritis, yet still want to keep your fingers nimble, so you knit, the needles maintain the warmth of your hands! This has been extremely helpful to me. And the Clover Takumi are consistent in their quality. I can't say enough -- except I can't find all the sizes I use around here -- hence my purchase at Amazon! And...if you use straight needles, Clover Takumi Bamboo has them, too! 5Nice smooth needles I ordered these because I already have two sets of Clover Takumi circulars in size 1 and 2 for baby knitting and love them! I needed a good pair of shorties for children's and adult size hats and ordered a size 6 because I like that gauge for hats. These are smooth and fast and there is no "snag" in the join. A pleasure to work with. They are a very well made, sturdy brand. They don't get sticky and as long as you take care of them (I keep mine in a quilted needle case which I made) they will last for years. They came on time as promised and in perfect condition. I would recommend this shipper and this brand for anyone trying to decide whether Clover Takumi is the way to go. 5Decent needles If you're looking for average quality wood needles that are affordable, buy these. I'm hardly a knitting expert but I knit a lot. I have my favorite needles (another brand), but these are wood which is a plus for me, they're reasonably priced, they seem to wear nicely but I don't expect to get too much mileage out of them. If you're making something special or want needles you can keep for the long term, I would recommend a better quality product. Basically you get what you pay for. That said, these are decent and I will continue to use them when needed. 4NOT as pictured Ordered these as replacements for size 3 Clover Takumi needles I bought 10 years ago - the tips are just starting to crack from 10 years of solid use, so it's time for replacement. I'm so disappointed in the new ones. These are NOT the same as the ones pictured. They have a lace-tip (very pointy) and not a blunt tip. I only ordered these for the blunt tip, as I'm working with sock yarn, not lace-weight yarn, and the lace-tip splits the sock yarn. They are also a lot shorter than my other 16" circular needles. I think these must be a knock-off, they feel significantly cheaper than the originals. I'm only buying from my local yarn store, it was a mistake to order a mystery product from some unknown seller. 1what could go wrong! Well considering my recent experiences I maybe should not say that. But I had to settle on bamboo as they do not seem to make plastic anymore. The joints are smooth so far. That was my only complaint about bamboo needle to begin with.I would recommend them to any knitter for the one reason the yarn does not slip! 5
