Customer Reviews

Not as good as I hoped it would be. This is a very nice looking 5-1/2-Quart Multi-Purpose Pot with Glass Cover. I purposely bought one that did not have a non stick coating, due to flaking that seems to happen with most non sticks. When using this pot, you have to be aware of the temperature, so you don't end up with burned bits. I did notice some discoloration in spots and that was disappointing. I typically use this for cooking vegetables, potatoes, pasta and soups. This is a nice size, but it has to be used with attention and care. I lacks the sturdiness I hoped to find in Cuisinart product. I have found myself disappointed in two other Cuisinart items in the last years, and think I will avoid purchasing from them in the future. The other items were a covee brewer and a food processor. 3I do not recommend this product This Product list as Stainless steel, but the product which i got was not stainless steel, we had bought this vessel in December 2016 and now, i see rust forming around the rim of the vessel cover, on doubt, i used magnet to see if this is Iron, and Magnet struck to this vessel.I did not get the product as per the description, which is very deceptive of listing a product as stainless steel and getting something else.I do not recommend this product. 1Love it so much I bought a second one! I love it so much that I immediately ordered a second. I m usually cooking for one, but this can be used to turn anything into a one pot dish, slow roast, stir fry, or stew for one with leftovers. It s good in the oven to 500 , and of course stove top It s deep enough to reduce splatter, but shallow enough to easily flip something on the bottom. It has the glass top I love on my other cuisinart pieces, plus this is under $22 which is a much better price than the other models. I wanted the second one in case the first one was in the dishwasher or fridge! 5Unusual for Cuisinart I have a lot of Cuisinart cookware - this item 755-26GD is the first to have pitting in the bottom after one use. Nothing was burned in it - used it to cook white rice. I used Barkeepers Friend to try and clean - no luck. 1Poor quality material and finish I really wanted to like this pot, but the first time I used it (to boil chicken at a low temp) black spots formed on the bottom of the pot. They are not stuck-on food. I felt the spots with my finger and fingernail they are part of the pot finish. I am sending this back to Amazon and getting a different brand. I have other Cuisinart product that are high er quality and last. 1A must have for every kitchen.. Bought this pot almost a year ago and used it almost everyday and it has never disappointed me.I have been using stainless steel cookware for more than a decade now.Its good for all type of cooking, frying, boiling etc.I have made curries, pasta, rice, stews, one pot meals and what not in this pan.The heavy aluminium base distributes heat evenly and allows the cookware to be used fro highest-lowest setting without any damages.Non-stick cookware is a trend, but nothing beats stainless steel. It has no chemicals, safe to cook and lasts a lifetime. The smooth sides allow for easy cooking and stirring.I have even made cheese, yogurt and jam in it with success. Its dishwasher safe, although I prefer hand washing all my pots and pans. Some people have complained about stuck food after cooking or black specks on the bottom, From experience I have found that to thoroughly clean your cookware, once in a while, rinse it with warm water, put some dish-washing liquid or baking soda and gently scour it with steel wool. You dont have to worry about chipping anything as its steel, nothing gonna happen to it and you will end up with a shiny new pot.Would highly recommend and would happily purchase another one. 5Recommended with reservations I recommend this pan with reservations. I cook a lot but I have week hands and can t lift heavy pots anymore, so the light weight is perfect. The drawback is that food scorches on the thinner sides of this pan (like when you re doing stir-fry), and that can be difficult to clean. They suggest the lowest possible flame on a gas stove to prevent burning, which doesn t really produce a good saut , but to have the flame any higher they suggest a flame tamer I m not about to buy accessories for my cookware! It s really great for soups and stews though, looks great, and goes through dishwasher just fine. 4Why would there be black residue? I wanted to love this pan, it is the perfect size for a moderate batch of soup. The lid bent in the dishwasher, it was not hitting on any other dishes. After I used it the first time, the pan is discolored on the inside bottom. I did not burn it, it was only boiling to bring soup to boil and then simmer for 20 minutes. I tried to gently wipe it out, but on a white cloth it was a little black (I don't know why) and it is still discolored. The directions say do not use steel wool, which I wouldn't, but then they do say to use steel wool. I will be keeping and using this pan but hope that it does not scratch on the inside. I used a rubber spatula in the first place. I wonder why black came through on a white soft towel? 3Durable pot, albeit with somewhat thin sides I've had this pan for four years, and it's held up well so far. It's a fairly medium-to-large size (5.5 quarts) that works well for pasta, soups, and whatnot. The pot is stainless steel, so it's safe for most foods--even, for example, acidic foods like tomato sauces that might turn acquire a metallic taste from cast iron. Cuisinart claims the bottom of the pot contains an aluminum core to distribute heat evenly (wrapped in stainless steel, of course, so only stainless touches the food), which is good--most good cooks recommend stainless steel pots with aluminum or copper cores. My only complaint is that the sides are a bit thin and the pot as a whole feels quite lightweight. If the sides were a bit thicker, I think they might distribute heat a bit better--when you're boiling water and some creeps up the sides of the pot higher than the general water level, it will quickly sizzle and evaporate, and if you're sauteing food, try not to let it touch the sides unless either the pot or food is well-coated with oil, or it may burn and stick. That being said, this is a relatively inexpensive pot, and I wouldn't expect much more. If you want thicker sides, Cuisinart does make some (as do others, I'm sure) where the sides are a bit thicker and also contain an aluminum core for better heat distribution. So, all this considered, this is not a bad pot: it's held up well and is reasonably priced. The bottom of the pot is also nice, but just be warned that the sides are a bit thin, so if that is a problem for you, you may want to go with something that is a bit higher quality. 4Rust? Defect? Fake item? After very first use the bottom covered with some weird gray dots/spots. Looks like the beginning of rust. Not sure if it's safe to use this pot. It's not the first Cuisinart pot I own - never had anything like that before. 1
