Customer Reviews

Buy $15 dollar hot plates from wal mart instead Cuisinart should be ashamed to put their name on this product and cause their long time customers to feel they are getting Cuisinart quality. You too Amazon!!! Shame on you both. Bought 12/15/2017 to cook breakfast in mornings. Worked until 10/11/2018. Now they want me to invest in shipping to repair. Will use that money to buy one at Walmart. 1Temporary turned into long term use... I originally purchased this as a temporary solution because our electric range went out. That was August and here it is November. It has been used every day. I use a heavy 14" cast iron skillet on in most of the time on it. Yes, it gets hot enough to fry foods. I honestly didn't expect it to have lasted this long and I didn't expect to use it more than a week or so. I like the fact that it has some mass to it. It stays put. 5The perfect burner. I've lived in a lot of studio apartments and have owned a lot of counter top burners. This one is BY FAR the best I have ever come across - heats up super fast, no weird smells, and honestly even as a diehard gas stove lover, I sometimes completely forget that this isn't part of a real range. I've had it for 2 months with zero issues.Do not underestimate this sleek little guy - it will cook your food with all the enthusiasm of a stovetop so keep an eye on the dial or you'll end up burning stuff, haha. It doesn't need to be turned up to the max - treat it like a normal burner and you'll be really happy with the results. 5Extreme Fire DANGER. Do not leave unattended. Ever. This item is dangerous. Beware and be careful. Never leave unattended.Upon my 1st use of this appliance, I placed a half full 6qt. pan of water on to boil. I walked away for a few minutes. My grandson started ring the ship's bell yelling FIRE. Not what I wanted to hear. I returned to find the temp. thermal switch smoking heavily. The base was burning hot, had I not placed on a fire proof surface it could have been disastrous. It' s possible mine was simply defective. But, then again.................I would never recommend this product. 1Some Like It Hot ... This Cuisinart-in-name-only has problems, and I fear it may be a fire hazzard. I Never leave it unattended. Why? *There is no temperature modulation on my unit (absurdly simply engineering so you know this thing is primitive and not at all worthy of the Cuisinart name); it runs hot, hottest, molten ... there is no medium low or low temperature, therefore, no simmer -- a joke. And the burner top looks rusty dark orange after careful cleaning according to instructions. Bought it 11 months ago with an extended warranty. It's either return it or throw it out. Caveat emptor, for sure. 2GREAT BURNER!!!!!! CANNING ALL AMERICAN PRESSURE POT I bought an All American LARGE capacity pressure canner but when it came I realized this was so big it would not fit on my stove top (too tall) so I searched the internet for options and this little gem kept coming back even though it was SOOOOO REASONABLY priced. I thought I would need a more expensive one to hold this HEAVY POT. Well I got it and I am THRILLED because it holds my HUGE pressure canner, hold the heat very well and is just PERFECT! LOVE LOVE LOVE this item and the price is amazing too! 5Solid, Heavy, Well-Made, Boils Large Pots of Food It's very solid and heavy and looks worth its price. I keep it out on my old stove top, rather than hiding it in a cupboard. It has a wide-enough space between its legs, to straddle over a large, no-longer-used stovetop coiled plate.I bought it to cook large pots of food, such as beans. I already had a smaller, 1,000-watt Elite Cuisine iron-plate burner, for smaller pots of food, which works well, but doesn't have the power that this 1,300-watt Cuisinart can produce. I tested it, by heating a large, 6-quart covered pot, full of cold water, on the highest setting of 5, on the control knob. It took exactly 34 minutes to bring the cold water to a full boil. Later. I cooked 10 quarts of beans, in a 12-quart steel pot. It took 55 minutes to bring it to a full boil, using the highest setting of 5. Lowering it to 3 1/2, kept it at a steady, low boil.I bought a 4-year extended warranty for a small, extra fee, that pays shipping costs for repairs. If you don't have grounded electrical outlets, for 3-pronged plugs, you'll need a 99-cent adapter, from any hardware store. 5Quick heating and well built I review everything i buy and i don't mince words, i must say it has an aweful burning smell when it's first used and heats up so try following the instructions and let it burn off the smell before placing your pot/pan on it(i didn't lol and it smells like burning plastic) Let's get to the heating up time, i calculate this by how long it takes to bring a couple of gallons of water to a boil and yes i said gallons because i like to see how it does with large volumes of liquid food etc and it did that in just over 35 minutes and that is awesome. Lastly this unit is solid and well built, it is exactly what i always wanted! However if this unit doesn't lasts at least a year of constant use i will change my review. 5An extra cooking surface, easy to use and accurate. This is a clean looking, efficient burner for those times when you are cooking for a crowd, or for when you want to fry something like bacon outdoors, in order to avoid having grease spattered all over your kitchen. The time it takes to heat the burner is about average, as with a stovetop burner. The temperature is fine-tuned with a numbered dial, which I have found to be dependably accurate. The dial heats from one to five, five being the highest setting. It is important to note that even at its highest setting, the burner does not change color, so exercise caution. An indicator light lets you know when the burner is turned on, and a ready light tells you when the burner is at the desired temperature.Another safety feature is that the cord is short, which in this case is a good precaution:you do not want a long cord for an appliance this hot, it would be all too easy for a dangerous accident to take place. The flat top is easy to clean and any spills will not leak into the device itself.I found this fifth burner to be surprisingly lightweight. It is easy to store in a kitchen cupboard, either flat or on its side. 5VERY GOOD BUY. PERFECT FOR BOILING, QUICK FRYING. Served its purpose. I was going to be without gas for several months and bought this as a temporary fix. Saved me a fortune in eating out and takeouts. However, this burner does not know the meaning of the word simmer. It knows only boil and fry. It's hot, hot, hot all the way and gives off a lot of heat. Stick to boiling water, quick frying, quick sauteing, A lot of meals can be made that way. Sits perfectly on the stove and is very sturdily made. I took away a star because I could not control the heat setting and found difficult to clean. Still can't get it to look shiny new again or anywhere near new, stains very easily. 4
