    I love this can opener I love this can opener! I have terrible arthritis and have tried many other openers. This one is amazingly easy to operate. Once you place the can just lower the lever and the can opens by itself. The price is very reasonable. I would suggest to the company to advertise for people with arthritis because it sure makes my life a whole lot easier! Light weight and easy to clean as well. 5once Cuisinart, now morphed into something, but what " This appliance is not constructed with the high quality that has been the Hallmark of Cuisinart appliances for many years. This current product is manufactured off shore,(China) and lacks the durability and acceptable level of quality 1FIND A DIFFERENT CAN OPENER This worked a very few times and then quit. The included 3-year warranty requires me to securely ship it to AZ and include another $10 for them to ship it back when repaired -- a total more than the $20 price of the new product. Definitely a strike against Cuisinart in my estimation. 1We were VERY disappointed yesterday when it arrived I should have read the reviews before purchasing this opener. I got this in the mail yesterday. We just spent a ton of money remodeling our kitchen, so with that we wanted some new small appliances. I too picked this because of the name and also the description says "Deluxe Can Opener, Stainless Steel". We were VERY disappointed yesterday when it arrived, because it is NOT stainless steel, but PLASTIC!!! Why can't they change the description to "Stainless steel color" or be a little more honest about the product? Very disappointed. 3Pretty but doesn't open cans Within the past 10 months, we have gone through two of these can openers. We registered for it when we got married because it matched the rest of our Stainless Steel appliances. I thought when the first one stopped working that maybe it had been user error. I was wrong! We purchased the replacement can opener in December when the original stopped working. Now the replacement has stopped working after only 4 months of light use. It won't hold the can to cut and when it does, it cuts for a short time and then stops. We are also having problems with it tripping the breaker whenever we try to use it. I have not been impressed with this can opener at all. It may look nice but it turned out to be a Stainless Steel paperweight taking up space on my kitchen counter. 1A can opener should open cans, this one doesn't. I bought it based on the Cuisinart name. Mistake.The first can I tried to open just sat there and ground the label off. I had to force the can to turn, and was left with metal shavings on the bottom of the opener.Second can, same failure, metal shavings.Third can worked fine. What's going on?I think I'm returning it.It's not rocket science, There's only one way to put the can on, and the gear turns, but it doesn't grip the can.Maybe they got a bad bunch of gears, I got the lemon.My last electric can opener lasted 20 years, this one one isn't going to last a month. 1Great for elderly Parents Got it for my mother who was struggling with a manual one at age 87. She didn't want but I convinced her to give it a try and she loves it. Uses cans a lot so very handy. Nice that it was white which went with her decor. UPDATE: I changed my rating from 3 stars to 1 star after the can opener stopped working today -- not even two months after I purchased it. The motor still runs and the gear turns the can, but the blade refuses to pierce the lid. It seems to have somehow pushed itself up into the cutting mechanism to the point where it can no longer do what it is intended to do: open cans. Given the near universal complaints about this can opener, I question whether Amazon should continue to sell it.Original review:I had to replace my electric can opener after several years. My previous one was the kind that cut under the rim. It worked well, but it required me to keep the handle pushed down until the can was fully open. Toward the end of its life it struggled to open some types of cans, and those that it did open had a sharp edge. When it came time to replace it, I wanted to go back to a traditional electric can opener: one with a magnetic lid holder, an automatic shut off, and the ability to hold the can until I removed it. Believe it or not, I did quite a bit of research before choosing this one. None of the electric can openers Amazon sells had 100% five-star reviews, but this one had solid reviews and the features I wanted. A few reviews mentioned that it shredded can labels while opening, but I chalked that up as likely due to user error rather than a product design flaw and went ahead with the purchase.I should have believed the reviews. I give it three stars because it is easy to use, holds and opens all sizes of cans easily, and automatically shuts off when finished. But it DOES shred labels, and it's ridiculous that I have to clean minuscule paper shavings off my counter and the opener itself every single time I open a can with a label. I've uploaded a few photos so buyers will understand what I mean. In one, you can see the paper dust left behind on the opener (on the black lip just beneath the blade) by the can of dog food I just opened. The other photos show the can with the shredded label beneath the rim. I've never had a can opener that does this. Cuisinart must be aware of this problem, yet they've done nothing to correct it. I will probably replace it with one from another manufacturer in the not too distant future. 1Not the most durable looking, but incredibly easy to use Not the most durable looking, but incredibly easy to use. 4Cuisinart Deluxe Electric Can Opener I choose this can opener due to the brand name Cuisinart. It has simple styling and cleans easily. I like the fact that I can open large cans or tall cans. Many openers out there are too short for this and only open small cans. This has worked perfect. 5
