    PLASTIC!!! False description!!!PLASTIC!!! Despite the product description being a complete lie that this product is brass, it is plastic. And there's no way of contacting the seller that I can find to either ask prior to purchase or to notify of their completely erroneous description information. On top of this, the range in price for this product is completely ridiculous! We purchased oil rubbed bronze faucets and are being completely gouged on this thing. This is the most over-priced piece of colored plastic. The chrome is $19 ... I wouldn't complain about spending $19 on a piece of plastic. I wouldn't be happy about it, but I wouldn't complain. But $65 on the exact same piece of plastic in a different color is completely outrageous!!! Not happy! The only reason it's getting 2 stars instead of 1 is that the color matches the Pfister universal shower valve trim that we purchased. I will continue looking to see if I can find a match in a metal product of superior quality though. I am not happy about the money sunk into this.2Over priced for what you getI had purchased stainless fixtures for my bathroom and needed these to complete the job. I thought Delta has priced everything else reasonably, but this part is ridiculous. $70 for some metal covered plastic. I paid it, and kept them because they matched the rest of the parts well, but next time I'm buying bathroom faucets I'll avoid Delta. When pricing things they should really consider what will encourage brand loyalty, not just profit where you can.2Very nice feels solidThis looks great! I just put it on behind my delta plate and tightened the screws a little. Once I got this cover plate all lined up I finished tightening the screws and that was it. I didn't even use the screws for this plate. I used clear caulk and put silicone caulk in the holes. I love the saccharine and how flat it goes against the wall. Glad I went with Delta all the way. Glad I shop at Amazon. Best prices hands down. I had the opportunity to get the Moen 1920 FREE but after seeing it and seeing the this on on. There's no comparison. Delta wins. I'm so happy5Just as reviewed by others. Supply tipThis is, as others have reviewed, plastic but nice attractive plastic.Be aware that this mounts between the standard valve plate and the wall, making the standard plate stick out a bit more than if was mounted tight to the wall. Thus the distance between the standard plate and the valve body is increased. Because of this you may need to source longer mount screws and your local big box store likely won't have them. Understandably, no remodel plate looks ascetically correct, but in a situation where you don't want to re-do all the tile, the Delta is the best looking.It is the slimmest that I can find, and comes in various finish colors.The quality is about the same as any other remodel plate on the market.5Excellent quality, matches most faucet styles This renovation cover plate is well constructed with a generous layer of chrome and comes with handy backing rods to facilitate positioning. It has a seal on the back to eliminate the need for calking (be sure to position the break in the seal at the bottom to facilitate removal of condensation). It's also important, when doing a two faucet to one faucet renovation that the exact position of the final valve assembly be carefully measured to insure proper clearance for the piping and hardware lest you cut a hole into a structural element. A carbide tipped hole saw is recommended to cut the opening for the monovalve. I recommend a dual valve with separate handle for volume and temperature verses the all-on-starting-at-cold-single-handle version. 5Nice Shower TrimThis was installed as additional trim for a shower valve replacement. The existing ceramic tile opening for the new valve had to be enlarged to accommodate piping connections and tools, without tearing apart the shower wall. The larger opening slightly exceeded the standard valve trim. This is plastic with a polished brass finish. Many reviewers have complained about the high price for being plastic, but the finish is very good, matches my Delta shower valve finish, and the plastic is structurally solid when it has good backing. Other brands I reviewed were thicker, for less money, but would have affected the shower handle installation by not having enough attachment. I'm satisfied, and this was by far the cheapest retailer to buy from.5Nice Plastic PartWorks exactly as advertised but buyers should be aware that, yes it is chrome--but it is chromed plastic. It looks nice and one can't tell that it is a lightweight piece of plastic but it was shocking and I couldn't help but feel a little ripped off. Installed it anyway and have no problems with it.3Got the job doneSure beats having to replace an entire one piece tub, in my case someone install that to handle valve, but then they quickly change your mind and want to one handle, if anyone owns a one-piece tub they realize that's almost impossible to change, but with this product, the change was easy.5Great SolutionI am a plumber and these are a great way to update a shower valve without having to damage anything. I install them in tile showers too, but cutting open an old tiled wall takes some skill and effort. This can save you from making drywall repairs and they look pretty good once you get them in. They match up with the standard Delta round trim and look pretty seamless.They are plastic, and if you over tighten the screws you will damage the plate or the screw mounts.5OK as long as you know it's chrome over plastic Updating my 3 handle shower unit to a newer single Delta required this unit... The ad said Chrome so I assumed it was.Upon doing the work ( all apart now ) I found it to be chrome cover plastic. Big problem , no... but just surprised.It still went up good and looks fine.Con.. not metal, stuck on foam ( sealing strip on back to prevent water entering at wall/tiles ) not 100% put on straight and no way to change it ( not a major problem as I use quality clear silicon around top of plate anyway ) 3Works reasonably well. Chrome colored plastic, not metal.This works pretty well to cover the holes left in the wall when changing from a 3-handle tub or shower faucet to a modern single handle faucet. It s chrome-colored plastic, and it s fairly sturdy for being plastic. The method by which it s anchored to the existing wall can be a bit tricky to make work well, especially if you have tile on top of a thick mud job. The design of it flows well with most current round faucet trim kits. It won t work with most trim kits that have rectangular back plates, though. I find it difficult to have enough room to work to replace a tub/shower valve with just the cutout in the wall this provides. I would recommend cutting an access hole in the wall behind the tub/shower if at all possible so you can work from behind.4
