Customer Reviews

Its cheap! In ALL the bad ways! It does the function it is made for.... that being said... the thing is pretty flimsy plasticand the long bar is way too soft a plastic & the thread pops off quite a bit (the angle needs to be steeper, or more closed... or something)Its also a real pain in the butt to get the tall bar into the base... somebody didn't measure that hole correctly, the spool does not sit firmly on the base.... overall this does its job... but barely and sucks at it!It is barely adequate, I picked it up without thinking much about it mainly because it was cheap... in this case... cheap means CHEAP!Bottom line is I would NOT order this again, if I were you I would pop a couple of $$ more and get something a bit more solid. 1Amazing must have item if you purchase large cones of thread So I read a few reviews and was worried about eating my money etc. .SO GLAD I PURCHASED! The item does feel like a cheaply made plastic junk HOWEVER for the price and results I can't understand how it received less than 5 stars? I own large cones of sewing bonded thread and is so annoying having to constantly wind up bobbins to use as spools...OMG this inexpensive item solved the issue. Loosen the screw, insert the plastic stem, re-tighten the screw and your done. The cone has NEVER tipped over during sewing, NEVER come apart and more importantly has NEVER caused a thread jam due to its function. You have to place it BEHIND your machine with the stem/thread facing same direction as your machine spool holder (left). The only time I find I have to assist is during bobbin winding. I loosely hold thread between my fingers- otherwise sometimes it will so winding prematurely due to tension. The only other item that I would compare it to cost $25.00 and only a fool in my opinion would choose that over this. If my item broke 4x I'd still be ahead compared to the $25.00 cost of the "premium metal" version. Just my opinion as always- if you agree/disagree please click helpful since you've read this far :) 5From mail to trash I got what I paid for, Junk! This item is not worth your time considering it. Made from all flexible plastic that could snap without any work. The pieces didn't even fit together, I had to make them with some work. I bet this cost a whole five cents to make it's so cheap. Now I will need to do what I should have done in the first place, search for a good model. I should have believed the reviews. Well you get what you pay for and I got junk for cheap. 1Plastic Bottom This is not the heavy weight one that I have purchased before. This whole thing is plastic and I broke it trying to put it together. I would not ever recommend this light weight Thread Stand. I should of read the info about it but I did not. I saw it on Black Friday and just thought it was the weighted Thread Stand. 1Not the best item available, It s too lightweight because it s all plastic to be of much use as is. One would have to really weight the base so that it didn t move during sewing. I ve tried several different locations, trying to weight it down, different machines and had no success. It s going in the recycling bin today. I visited my local sewing center and found one for a few dollars more with a heavy metal base that works much better. 1Sturdy, easy to assemble will make me always buy ... Sturdy , easy to assemble will make me always buy cones which to me are more price effective than buying smaller thread spools 5Don't buy this This is made of lightweight plastic and is not heavy enough to do the job. It also is so flimsy that the hook is in danger of breaking all the time. I threw mine out after fighting with it. Buy something metal with some weight to it. 1Good quality, heavy base. Heavy cast iron base, good quality chrome plated rod.I glued a piece of felt on the bottom so it won't scratch my wooded table top.I buy the 3000 yd spools of thread because they're a bargain, but they are hard to use on a standard sewing machine. This thread holder solves this problem. It pays for itself with the money saved on thread. 5Fits most serger cones. Might be a tight fit in some but it's flexible. These items fit the serger thread cones perfectly so now we can use them on the sewing machine also. They are made to squeeze a little bit so to fit some cones with smaller holes. I noticed this item is a tighter fit in some. If that doesn't work just stick the cone in a heavy coffee cup (make sure the cup is empty) and run the thread to your machine. 5exactly as described The Universal single cone and spool holder enables the home sewer to use large spools of thread with the height and distance from the sewing machine providing good tension for machine embroidery or work with Rulers/free motion quilt finishing. It was easy to assemble, cheaper than those sold in quilting shops and fit for purpose. Can be used on all makes and models of machines - I have a Bernina 930 Record which is circa 1986. 5
