Absolutely 5 starsAbsolutely 5 stars. This thing is heavy and tough, and the pieces are held together by heavy duty metal pieces within. It's all bendable between the little straight pieces - each piece is attached to the next by essentially a little hinge. It arrived 'rolled up'.This rubber will stand up to years of use, no doubt. It's thick and tough.The scrubby part on the surface seems to be perhaps woven throughout some of the little tire segments?, so it appears that some will reveal scrubby stuff down the road when surface stuff wears away? hard to tell. In any case, other reviewers have said they got years of use out of it, and I'm not surprised.I didn't notice any particular smell to the item (though I didn't hold it to my nose), so it's completely inoffensive as well.Maybe the only lthing not quite going for it is style - asyou can see, the aesthetic is a bit industrial. But honestly I don't expect to look at it much, just rub my feet on it a second every once in a while. As I said, the quality seems completely unbeatable. 5great, would recommend!I've had this rug for about 4 months now. It's right outside our back door, which we use constantly. I've noticed a little bit of wear, but not a ton, It's holding up great against the terror of my kids, my 100lb dog, and my husband's large feet. Our back door gets zero sun, so when it rains, the rug stays damp, but still will get large drops of water off your shoes. I love the holes that larger pieces of dirt will fall down through, so you aren't just pushing the dirt around like a normal flat rug. It's made a huge difference with the amount of dirt/leaves/bugs/pine straw that makes it inside. 4Your search is over!But you say, it's not pretty; it's beauty is that it's a simple doormat that works. But you say, it's a little expensive; not considering it will outlast your house. It's heavy, so will stay where you put it. It has deep openings to trap a lot of crud. It's durable. It's practical. It's the last door mat you will ever need to buy! 5A good, basic product that ought to last foreverThese are just what a doormat should be --rugged, heavy (so they don't blow away), effective, and relatively inexpensive. Being made out of tire-like material they ought to last forever. Do make sure to pay a little extra and get the ones with the "nap" on the top; the nap makes them much more effective in getting dirt off shoes. The ones without the nap are cheaper, but if you want a mat that works you want you need the better one. 5Good sturdy matI really like this may. I live in South Florida and all my other mats were waterlogged and would crush down( coconut husk) or fade and crack (molded rubber with design printed on it). This thing is very durable and solid. And lets the water pass through and dries in a reasonable amount of time. Doesn't show any dirt, of course. A little bit of the top fuzzy stuff has slightly worn where I step all the time but hardly noticeable. My house decor is modern so the look of it doesn't bother me at all. Simple and unassuming. It rains a lot here in Maryland when it rains it rains hard. The last mat I had stayed wet forever after rains and tracked water in. This one doesn't and all debris falls through so less debris is tracked in. It is even reasonably comfy on bare feet. It costs a bit more but will probably outlast me. A good buy! 5FantasticVery sharp looking mat. Does not look "recycled" even though it is! The fuzzy surface (on one side only) has a very nice, uniform finish. I suppose if I didn't want that, I could flip it over and just have the smooth rubber to step on.Some mats like this have a very industrial look. Not this. This one looks great on the front stoop of my brick rambler home.I ordered the largest size and am very pleased. Suggest you go big if you have the room. More area to wipe feet and guests are more likely to step on it with both feet and maybe even wipe their feet! I can already see that it is preventing the kids and I from tracking sidewalk chalk dust from the bottom of our shoes into the house. Have not looked closely enough to see what else it has caught.The other thing that appeals to me about this mat is that its perforated design does not allow water or bugs to gather underneath like a solid door mat does. 5FANTASTIC option for both durability, effective debris capture and long life... STRONGLY recommend!PROS:+ Stays put - This is a heavy mat and stays where you put it in contrast to some other thinner recycled rubber/ tire mats I have owned. Others have slid around on the cement once moisture builds between the mat and the cement under it.+ Most effective door mat for capturing debris while being comfortable even without shoes! The fabric top is great for both.+ Easy maintenance and long life - hose off and good as new+ Cost effective - Replace and forget rather than repeatedly replace every year or two. Though they can be seemingly pricey, after looking at what it cost to replace decorative versions every 12-18 months, I was ahead of the game in cost the first year by simply not buying two cheaper less effective mats for the same spot and location I purchased this one.+ Discourages mold and mildew growth by having an airated design whereas other recycled rubber/tire mats have facilitated it in their designsCONS:* SUBJECTIVE - Perhaps less "decorative" than some other mats I have had but I think its function far outweighs any potential "industrial" leaning appearance on my patio. In fact, I would argue it blends in and lets the landscaping, fountains and planters be the focus :). It wasn't my intension but it is the end result. I actually prefer it to the former decorative mats as a result.USAGES:* If you have kids, pets and or multiple people coming in and out of an entrance, this simulated-fabric covered recycled tire/rubber mat is your best friend to minimize dirt, debris and allergens from entering your home* Front door/ back door/ mudroom/ Garage entrance/ etc.* As a fatique mat for grills & planter stations - I use one in front of my Planter Station and another in front of my Grill for a comfortable standing/ fatique free mat.* If you are looking for cost effective and quality product to minimize debris - seems to be one time purchase so far! The two for this purpose don't have the "Fabric" surface but if they made them large enough, I would have gotten them with the fabric top for these locations too!___________________________________________ NARRATIVE___________________________________________I strongly recommend this product. I owned 3 other Dura Rugs of different weave patterns without the Fabric Texture already when I found this option. My only regret is that they don't make the fabric version in the larger size that I use in my garage in front of my work bench! I love what I have but I will tell you... it would be perfect to serve double duty there as it does on my back patio outside my slider! Double duty including both as a quality mat that traps and allows effective wiping of feet in/out of slider door as well as a durable comfort mat/ fatique reducing mat for which to stand (even bare foot) comfortably!My home has a larger one in front of my multi-burner grill on a cement patio which provides an anti-fatique mat that also is durable during the Florida sun and heat. I am done spending a fortune on new mats every year to year and a half. These not only hold up but work the best by far in my experience and have a quality appearance along with their effectiveness. Though not as "decorative" as some other mats, I will take the superior durability and effiectiveness over brief appearance anyday. Most decorative mats fade quickly and or begin to break down quickly. Even the recycled rubber decorative mats of other vendors do not hold up as well as these. The airated design allows for moistue to pass to the bottom during rain while allowing the mat to wipe & hold debris at the same time. Ultimately, the same feature allows evaporation which discourages the mold and mildue other mats seem to foster.Maintenance is simple hose off. It literally looks and functions good as new! I strongly recommend these mats for many places around your home where you would need a durable mat that captures and traps debris and or where you would need an anti-fatique mat with durability. Though I would not use the standard mat inside my home say in the kitchen, I would consider using this one with the fabric top as an anti-fatique option in front of my Kitchen sink. It has a less industrial appearance. When I was looking for a mat for my entry door....so glad I found this accidentally. I have one dog that tracks water in from the patio because of water pooling just in front of my door. This matt allows everyone to walk in without stepping in the pool of water as the matt sits above the water...any debris on their feet is wiped w the carpeted surface. It is heavy and stays put on my wind swept deck and is nice and large so ensures full coverage for the door entrance. The water runs through the grooves and it has a soft thin carpet like pile on the top which makes it easy on bare feet while keeping them moisture free.
