Customer Reviews

Lasted a little more than 1 monthI had a whole house water filtration system installed a little over a month ago. He used this filter for the initial installation and gave me a spare for replacement. The filter indicates that it should be replaced every 6 months. My plumber thought it should last more like 10 months since the 6-month estimate is based on the average water usage for a family of 4 and I live alone. After about three weeks I notice a black sediment in my toilets and when I would fill my pets' water dishes. I would have to let the water run to get rid of the sediment. Then a couple of weeks after that I woke up and I had virtually no water pressure. After checking with a couple of neighbors to see if they had water pressure, I decided to check the filter in my new system. The water in the filter's reservoir was pitch black. It was filled with sediment from the filter and the filter itself was covered in a reddish slime. I tossed the filter and cleaned everything up which wasn't easy since carbon likes to stick to things. I replaced it with the spare filter and sealed everything back up. Now my water pressure is back to normal.I would like to think that maybe I had a defective filter and that the new one will perform better but I am doubtful. If I begin to see carbon residue in my water again, that will be that. I will never use these filters again.2PSI Fluctuation I have been buying these filters for almost a year. I have one at my well pump that feeds my holding tanks and one at Point oif Entry to my house. I had found that I got a lot of black residue that acumulated in the housing. But my bigger issue i have found was flow restriction and inconsistant flow. Whith no filter I was building 20 psi. The average FACT filter was increasing restriction and varied from 30-35 PSI. The last filter I installed built up to 90 PSI. I found this due to my 75 pressure relife valve was bleeding off. at first I thought the valve was bad. But after checking PSI found it was the filter. I bought a differnet carbon block filter and PSI is down to 22. Will not be buying the FACT filter any more. 1Used to filter out sediment and chlorineWe pump our own water from a well known lake in upstate NY that has always been known for its clarity and purity. Nevertheless, we filter and chlorinate because algae and sediment from heavy wind and rain increase the possibility of bacteria contamination. We have a multi stage system. The first stage is a washable 50 micron sediment pre-filter that prevents large particles from clogging the system. The second stage is chlorination and a 500 gallon storage tank. The third stage is this ecopure filter, which is effective at eliminating all the sediment and most, but not all, of the chlorine taste and odor. For that we still have to use "finishing" filters in the refrigerator and at the kitchen water faucet.Unfortunately I have not found a whole house filter that is as effective as the sink and refrigerator filters at completely getting rid of the chlorine taste. This one is the most effective one I've found.. It gets the water good enough to be used for washing dishes and clothes, but it is not 100 percent effective at getting rid of the chlorine taste.I have found that I have to replace it once every 3-4 months. If I keep it in our system any longer, the water pressure drops. I would be interested in anyone is getting 6 months in real life.4perfect fit, easy to change.the unit was easy to change. Shut off water supply, drain or shutoff outlet lined using the special wrench loosen and unscrew the base. A bucket should be placed under the filter unit to catch water and old filter element. Clean and check the "o" ring and replace if cracked or worn ,I use pool filter seal lube to coat the seal . (safe for drinking water) Unwrap new filter and place in center of base unit . Screw the base with the new filter into the top unit and tighten unit snug. Don't over tighten it is plastic. Turn on supply water and check for leaks, You may have to tighten more to seal. If it won't seal replace the o ring and try again. Turn on outlet water valve and run water for a few minutes.5Disappointed in the filterI bought this filter to reduce sediment and chlorine in my city water. It worked great for about 1 month and then the water flow was reduced significantly. If I ran the washing machine, water would trickle out of my faucets. Very disappointed. They should not claim these filters last for 6 months.2Please read this. NOT suitable for all aplicationsI have a number of filters in series. I had1. strainer mesh ispring2. Rope.3. This charcoal filter4. White block paper.I noticed i had great pressure then it died down. So this is ok because i have direct city then if the pressure deceases a pump from a tank will come on.BUT i notice the pump was running lots. The city had 25 psi and very little came out. I worked out through elimation this filter was blocked. I cut it open. There was no sign or dirt in it. I blocked one end and tried to blow though it. There was a huge restriction. Is this filter good. Yes super good. BUT1. not for your whole house 2.not for pressures less than 60 psi.3. Not for high volume applicationsMaybe great for ice maker or drinking water. Its so fine the water has to go though a dense charcoal wall.3ONE MICRON WHOLE HOUSE FILTER RARE.ONE MICRON WHOLE HOUSE FILTER WITH 60,000 GALLON CAPACITY IS TERRIFIC. NOW DRINKING WATER THROUGHOUT CONDO. FLOW IS TERRIFIC. COULD NOT ASK MORE. MY HANDYMAN INSTALLED $350. I CANNOT DO. INSTALLATION OF HOUSING AND FILTERS ARE A BARGAIN, CULLIGAN WANTED $2500 A 25 MICRON FILTER. WASTE OF MONEY. THIS IS A VERY LOW COST SOLUTION WHICH CAPTURES BACTERI & MUCH MORE WITH ACTIVATED CHARCOAL. OTHER FILTERS WERE 30,000 GALLONS AND NOT WHAT I WOULD RECOMMENDED. NYONE HANDY CNA INSTAL FOR MATERIAL UNDER $100. A FREAL BARGAIN. I USE TO BE IN WATER FILTRATION. HAVE EXPERT KNOWLEDGE.5My well produces a very very fine alkali or silicate not sure whichMy well produces a very very fine alkali or silicate not sure which. And for instance when the dogs water bowl or a bucket I may have used drys up there was a very very fine white powder clinging to the bowl. I installed this filter and for the last month I have no longer found the fine particulate mater on the bowls when they dry up. I think these work very well and I plan on purchasing more to have them in stock. The only reason I did not give a 5 star is that I would like to give it more time to check results.4No more smell!By far the best whole house filter I have used! I have well water and it takes the smell out of the water, I can t tell it s well water anymore. And no more black iron deposits in toilets either.5Filters are awesomeWe have well water and have to use a whole house filter. We live in North Carolina where the dirt is very orange from the iron content in the ground. This orange stuff seeps into our well water. We've been going to Lowe's Home Improvement store and buying similar filters for over $30. But then Lowes quit carrying the filters we need. How fortunate we were to find these filters on Amazon for half the price. My husband just put the filter in yesterday and it clear the water right up. So we're really only on day two, but so far so good. I'm giving it a five-star right now because of the price and because it cleared the water right up. In a week I'll check back here and revise my rating if I need to.5First 6 month reviewSeems to do the job well. Knowing how dirty it got after their suggested max life of six months I'll probably be doing a change a little earlier. Obviously that will vary from home to home. I live in a small town with a newer (around 10 years old) municipal water system. Our tap water tastes much better and we don't have sediment pieces here and there in our water. The price is right and clearly by the picture you can tell it's doing its job.5
