Customer Reviews

It fits! This is the second replacement hose for a Eureka Boss 4870 upright vacuum I've had for a very long time. The first replacement lasted almost three years, so clearly interior to the original part. It seems that OEM replacement parts just aren't as durable as they used to be. As before, a perfect fit and easy to install. We'll see how long this one lasts but, if viewed as a consumable like the HEPA filter and bags, it's not a big deal. 4Cost Effective Repair, that works fine. Neither plastic tape nor duct tape worked to repair the old hose on our "Boss" vacuum. This thing did, at a decent price, and works just fine thus far.Hard to give an item "5 Stars" until knowing how long it will last - and, besides, who really "Loves" a vacuum hose?Details of this order: Eureka 61247-1 - The Boss Ultra Smart Vac Model 4870 Attachment HoseSold by: Merchandise Mecca (Fulfilled by Amazon)Would not hesitate to order from this merchant again. 4Lasted 17 Months Update:The latest hose lasted 17 months, ripped in the same place. Graphically speaking, while the price of this item goes up its lifespan goes down: 24 months, 20 months, 17 months. The Eureka Boss is not a particularly great vacuum, and these replacement hoses make me dislike it all the more.Second review:Mine lasted 20 months before it tore in the same place the original one did, where the hose connects to the tool connection sleeve. As other reviewers say, its redeeming quality is the price. Worked out to a dollar a month for me. It's too bad though that we've gotten to the point where important parts of a tool are considered consumables, like bags and filters. Until the vac breaks down I guess I'll keep buying these hoses.Update August 24, 2017: As if on schedule, the hose broke after 24 months, same spot. Duct-taped it again and now thinking about tossing the vacuum entirely even though it still works. To be fair to the manufacturer of these hoses, the design of the Eureka vac's nozzle system is just terrible. Since the hose emerges from the very bottom of the machine the hose stretches more than it should have to; if it connected at the top I'm sure this would not be an ongoing problem / expense. I won't buy Eureka again. 2It's a decent hose for a GREAT vacuum It's a vacuum hose... what more can I say?! However... I miss my Eureka so much that even though the belt pulley is broken (so can't vacuum floors) I've replaced the hose TWICE so I can keep the thing to use for vacuuming stairs, my car, corners, etc. I haven't found a vacuum yet that works as well as my Eureka I-can-suck-anything-up-anywhere-anytime so will continue to replace the hose as needed. (Ok, ok, so the hose may not be as great as the vacuum itself since it splits at the curve every few years... guess I could fix that by not actually attaching it to my vacuum like you're supposed to... oh well, don't really care. Have I mentioned I love my Eureka?) 5Perfect Fit for My Eureka 4870 AND Your Eureka 4870, GUARENTEED!! Based on the wide range of previous reviews, I must admit, I was a skosh fearful to order this hose. Can you imagine that level of fear I was coping with? Too legit, some might even say to quit , but not this pimp. I knew I was tired of carrying my vacuum cleaner up and down the stairs, having to balance it upon steps whilst servicing those above. I shouldn't be made to do exercises if I enjoy being fat and out of shape. Plus, chicks dig it. Well, I'm here to tell you, I've dealt with my fair share of hose in my life, you can bet on that! Dirty hose, slimy hose, sassy hose, you name it, I've probably had some sort of relation with that type of hose.My fear was originating from a similar concern many here have expressed. I needed to be able to easily slide my tube into this hose, and didn't want to need to force it. That's always something I try to avoid, but I digress. When the time came, I realized my stomach cramp triggering terror fear was all for naught, these hose are very easy to work with, and it's obvious, at least for my vacuum (pictured cause chicks dig it) that these hose were manufactured for at least this model (Eureka 4870).The final test, one I had emotionally prepared for with Thaddeus, my Life Coach, was at hand. Sure, the house cooperated if I slipped my pipe into the back end, but I was certain any attempt to strap on an accessory tool to the hose's front home would be met with protest. But alas, the accessories all strapped on and proved a tight seal with almost no obvious suction loss where it really counts most.If your vacuum is a Eureka 4870 and presents with a vivid, almost sassy shade of yellow, and always makes sure you understand your place in the pecking order (The decal which indicates that the vacuum is in fact "The Boss") and based on its extraordinarily high level on of awesome, is essentially the last vacuum you'll enter need to buy, I absolutely, without a question in my mind, and with an infinitely high level of analytic confidence, guarantee this hose will work. If it doesn't, please see Ed. 5Hose fits -- attracted to duct tape This hose fits correctly and I am glad it is sold as a replacement. I do wish it held up longer. Within a year the hose begins to tear at the wand end. I use duct tape to maintain a good seal. Eventually the tears emerge further up the hose, and I add more duct tape. This is tolerable for awhile, but I'm coming up on three years with the current hose and the amount of duct tape it wears is comical. Vacuum itself is 12 years old and runs reasonably well. If (large IF) I get another hose it will be this one since I doubt any replacement hose is apt to hold up any better. 4Excellent replacement hose for Eureka Boss 4870G I purchased a Refurbished Eureka Boss Upright Vacuum, R4870G in February 2008 (best $69.99 I've spent) and I just recently found a tear in the hose near the wand. In my search for a replacement hose, Amazon had the best price and quickest shipping (with my Prime membership). The hose length and fitment are identical to the original. However, the original hose was slightly opaque and this replacement is more of a clear plastic. Functionally, this makes no difference.Replacing the original hose took less than 5 minutes. For my particular model, I needed to unscrew two torx screws using a T20 sized bit to be able to remove the original hose. I'm not sure if all the variations of the 4870 use the same size screw, but I imagine they do.In summary, my 5 star rating is based on 1. The fact that it fits and functions like the original, and 2. Pricing & delivery. I've uploaded a picture to show the original and replacement hoses. 5Don't Waste Money on a New Vac That Won't Be As Nice - Replace The Hose Strange to love a Vacuum's hose but this thing saved my old Eureka THEBOSS so I'm a very happy camper.Easy to install, this hose works great with THEBOSS. In fact, I'm ordering another one for my Eureka PET LOVER -- as they use the same hose.Backstory--------------------------I purchased a new Eureka vac. The Eureka MyVac Reach Allergy w/ Airspeed Technology, Bagged, and I have to say that I'm fairly disappointed with the quality. You can't turn off, for example, the spinner. There are other design features that are nice, however for wood floors I like turning off the spinner. The other thing I like is having a vac on each floor. It's sort of wasteful but I've gotten to an age where I can see that in the future it could definitely be a problem hauling a heavy vacuum cleaner up and down the stairs. So I indulge myself to keep from future falls.So... I decided I wanted to keep my old vacs. Really they work fine, I was only unhappy with having to tape and re-duct-tape the hoses. This is a better solution than buying a new vac.SUMMARYIf your old Eureka Vacs still work don't waste money buying a new machine that won't be a nice. Buy a new hose. I purchased one for MYBOSS and am now waiting on a new hose for my PET-LOVER vac. 5Cost effective replacement hose Nice replacement hose at a attractive price. Install went reasonably smooth except for the fact that the seal at the hose end that goes into the cleaner was very stiff. A little gentle heat from a hair dryer and some vaseline did the trick. All in all, happy with the purchase as we really like the Eureka "Boss" vacuum as it has nice suction power and is really well made compared to what is on the market now. 5It was annoying. I ordered this one and it's great My original hose chipped up quite bit and then stretched out so far that we had to keep wrapping it around the vacuum cleaner to stay put. It was annoying. I ordered this one and it's great! I'm trying to be careful because I know the end will chip just as the last one did. So far it's holding up and hasn't stretched out. It was pretty easy to attach...I did have to fish around and find a funny looking screwdriver head, but since I have one of those universal screwdrivers that comes with tons of different tips, I finally found the right one that worked. I think it was square or maybe diamond shaped. It only took me about 10 minutes from start to finish to install. I will update this review if this thing starts diminishing earlier than normal. So far it's great! 5
