Customer Reviews

Same complaints I am seeing across the board...Like many other filters of these on the site, i had these for about 2 weeks and the life span is almost over. This is taking extreme care of flipping them over every night, and soaking them ever couple days prior to running the humidifier. I run multiple humidifiers in the home in all our bedrooms every night. It seems all of them are performing the same. Can't recall what the original filters were like, but i remember being able to use these filters for over a month at a time easy. Wish i could tell what changed.... Maybe it is the size and/or quality of the materials...If someone finds a seller that is worth the buy, i'm open to suggestions, otherwise i think i'm stuck buying these for nowJust FYI, i am not having any mold issues like others have expressed on other sellers, however the filter is getting crusted with the yellowish tone from i guess drying up near the top of the fan even though i never run it completely dry... 3This is a BEST BUY!The only negative with the filters is their $9-10 cost. This Honeywell Humidifier works beautifully, is very easy to fill and use. if you need to generate indoor humidity during cold winters, this is probably your best buy. Hint: Each time you fill your humidifier with water, turn its accordion-pleated filter over; it will last much longer. Frankie Schelly 5Happy to have found these!I have three Honeywell HCM-350 humidifiers. When I first owned them Honeywell filters were blue on the outside and they worked well. Honeywell changed the HAC-504 filter and claimed it was better. Not true at all. I was seriously considering buying all new humidifiers because I couldn't find a good replacement filter. I have tried multiple replacement filters and they have all disappointed me until I found this filter. They are thick enough to hold water, sturdy enough to stand up and they last longer than other brands. I highly recommend these filters to anyone needing a replacement filter that actually works. 5The best replacement filter out thereLike other reviews you will see here, I've tried a number of different brands and have had experiences where filters fall apart in days, become hard as a rock and or yellow within a matter of a couple days etc. Quality and size of the filter has been a big issue. Not with these. You can see and feel the difference in quality. I easily get double if not triple the use out of these than the next best option I came across. Please note that you should rotate them daily and ensure they are wet (if your humidifier runs dry you need to soak the whole thing in water when you refill). You can find better deals purely from a financial perspective, but when you factor in what you're getting and how long they last it's not even a debate. 5Seem to be comparable ones that came with the humidifierMay be a little thinner, but seems to add humidity at the same rate. I generally get a winter season out of each, but that does require you to pull the filter out and soak it in bleach and vinegar about every 5 weeks. Yes, they get crusty if you have water with a lot of minerals in it; soaking the filter helps that, too. I assume people having mold problems are not running these constantly...you must or the water sits and mold grows. If you keep it running, you may start getting some after a while, but then soak it.Of course I'm cheap and you may toss the filter when I would soak it. 5Unused Moldy filterDidnt have a problem with first filter. Once i was ready to switch to the new filter, i opened the box took the new filter out and lo' behold it is covered in mold. House is constantly on low temp AC with humidity below 30%. This is unacceptable. Dont waste your money go buy another brand filter.**UPDATE**12/5/2018I had to come back to order this filter again unfortunately because other brands were troublesome. Voila! The filter failed me again and started having molds soon after a week. Uploading a new photo. It is just sad that it's nearly impossible to find a filter that is trustworthy. I guess I will go back to search for another brand(?).... 1Not worth the moneyPretty disappointed by the filters. They were practically falling apart straight from the packaging so of course didn t hold up to the humidifier moisture. They also grew mold almost immediately. I have now purchased a different brand filter and am much more satisfied and don t have these issues. 2ExcellentExcellent - enough so that it actually motivated my lazy self to write a review here (I'm also ordering another package now so was here anyway)Ive tried a few different types of filters made by other companies and none have been as good as this one. Some, while appearing well made, didnt work well or really at all with my machine. Others were cheaply made - thin and flimsy - and werent worth the money spent for the time gotten out of them. These are thick, sturdy and well constructed. All of which means they last longer than the average replacement designs. If youve previously tried a variety of others, youll notice how substantial these are as soon as you take them out of the package.--- Update ---We run our humidifier 24/7 - probably around 22 hours a day on average, all week long. Its been 5 weeks now and this filter is still working. Not as good as the first few weeks but still good enough to not change yet.I use New York City tap water... not filtered and nothing added to the tank.I flip the filter every time I refill the tank - which is around 3 times a day considering the constant use.If the outer layer of the filter feels dry when refilling, I soak the filter in cold water for a few minutes (this usually starts happening after a few weeks of use). Ive never had more that the tips or portions of the outermost layer get dry.Once a week I soak the filter in a mix of water and vinegar - roughly 1/2 cup of vinegar and 6 cups water - for 15-20 mins. Then rinse gently to flush the vinegar. While soaking the filter I clean the machine tray - a quick scrub with soap and water, then a little bleach rinsed off thoroughly with cold water. The water tank too - soap and water, no bleach (make sure to clean the ring where the cap screws in, and the cap too). The filter gets discolored with time, going from white to a light tan color, with a thin, slightly darker ring near each end - typical result of mineral deposits from what I can tell. I havent seen anything like the dark and black mold issues people post pictures of online.--- Update Two ---Ive seen some people comment about black mold forming on their filter within a week of use. That much, that fast should not happen in a machine that is clean.Assuming the tray and water container are being regularly cleaned... lift the top part of the machine off the water tray, flip it upside down, and take a look inside at the fan casing and motor. Black mold can form inside of the machine, and if this happens it will spread quickly to any filter you use - since it is already present and in close proximity to the filter. Wiping this area down will help prevent this - I used a tooth pick and disinfectant wipe to clean out the little grill at the center under the fan. 5Thin, stiff, poor wicking performance. Avoid at all cost!I purchased three different aftermarket brands of filters for my HAC-504 to compare them. This is easily the worst of the 4. The filter is made of very stiff, thin paper that does a very poor job of wicking up the water, which is the primary purpose of the filter! It is prone to drying out quickly and stiffening up. There's absolutely nothing positive to say about this one. 1Seem to work well enough for meI like to run my humidifier at night (I use the HCM-710). I've been trying to remember to flip the filter either every day or every other day. I also have been using one of those little Protec fish things to try to keep it clean. It's been working fine and I'll change the filter every month and the fish every two months so I can reorder them at the same time. If it starts to look pretty yellow then I give the humidifier a good scrubbing--I think it's probably from sediment in the tap water where I live. I could use filtered water but that'd take forever to fill every day and I'm too lazy for that. I've never had a mold problem. 4
