Defective and poor instructions Mine came with no printing on it. I don't know what side to use and instead of just and instead of just stating how to use the product I have to search through their website which states "What side of the paper comes in contact with the cheese? The printed side is the outside." The paper I was sent has no printed side. One side is slightly shinier, but there's no indication on the website as to which side to use if the paper has no print on it like mine. 1Works! I saw a recommendation for this in my Cooks magazine. We LOVE cheese around here and cheese is SOO good with wine and I cook with it too. We have a great deal of cheese and even tho my cheese drawer in the 'fridge is pretty good, the cheese can still get pretty darn icky in a week or two or when you find some chunk a month later you forgot about. I have tried several methods and found none of them works so with the holidays coming I knew we would have loads of it around and figured this was an excellent time to test this paper out.It comes in a box much like wax/parchment paper with the sheets already cut and they include cute little name stickers with places to mark whether its cow or goat cheese. The length is enough for most cheeses although were I to have a big wheel it might be difficult to wrap.We had a party on the Winter Solstice Dec 21st and we had lots of cheese. We had leftovers and I wrapped them in the paper. I used a single sheet and did a very light wrap and placed a rubber band around the open ends not very tightly, these cheeses were soft and would have been squished.That was 18 days ago and today I found several in the cheese drawer that had not been eaten. A Havarti, Camembert and a Brie. The Havarti was EXACTLY the same as the day I wrapped it! The Brie and the Camembert had some VERY slight soft spots but they were completely edible (and they were immediately eaten).This stuff works! I haven't kept anything any longer than 18 days (so far) but hey! That's not bad. So I'm going to buy more and keep it around. Why 4 stars? - I wish this came in a roll so I could CHOOSE the size of my sheets. 4Very good product I used to store my cheese in plastic storage containers or zip bags----uck! This paper has saved so much money as I no longer throw away spoiled cheese!Note, I tried the bags first......the paper is much nicer. Trying to wipe out the bags for re-use is difficult. The paper just gets a quick wipe down and then air dry until next use. 4Shocked that it works I am, really, shocked that these papers work! I bought them hoping to extend for a few days more the life of the cheeses we buy. I also purchased some other brands, in order to compare their effectiveness.Last month, we had occasion to really give these a workout. We had to leave home suddenly because of a family emergency, and we were unable to return home for 4 weeks.Guess what?!? The cheese in the Formaticum Cheese Paper was STILL GOOD!! No slick, wet moisture on the outside! No mold! The cheese tasted perfect! I don't know if it works on all cheeses, but the Manchego we wrapped was in absolutely perfect shape.I did not expect to put it to the test for such a long time -- I was hoping for a week or two.Well, I'm sold now.P.S. The other brand, Gourmet Trends Forever Cheese Bags, worked pretty well, too, with a different and slightly softer cheese, but not as well as the Formaticum papers. I didn't know I would be conducting a 4-week experiment, or I would have used the same type of cheese. 5Nice option for storing block of cheese I find these papers really handy for wrapping blocks of cheese. In my household, that's usually cheddar and large wedges of Parmesan from Costco. I wrap the block of cheese in a paper and secure it with a piece of painters tape, which can double as a label for the type of cheese. The tape holds up for several occasions of opening and re-wrapping the cheese before needing to be replaced. The paper is sturdy enough to hold up as long as the cheese does. I can't say for sure that the paper extends the life of the cheese, but it seems to. 4Great paper for preserving freshness of cheese I used to be able to buy this paper in my local grocery store but they stopped carrying it. I was very happy to find it through Amazon. The paper is great for preserving expensive, fancy, and any cheeses you buy. I am extremely pleased with how fresh my cheeses stay when wrapped in it. The product performs as described. I am very happy with it and will buy again when I run out. 5Works for other types of cheeses too So they might be used for hard cheeses like Parmesan, but I've been using them for semi soft cheeses like Monterey Jack and Muenster. I buy small blocks from the butcher's which go moldy and hard in the plastic bags they wrap in paper. They do increase the fridge shelf life of these cheeses as well as maintain their quality as compared to the less than 2 week window wrapped in plastic. They're suited for smallish portions but you might need 2 paper sheets to cover a brick sized block of cheese. The included sticker labels are conveniently packed and useful. You could re-use these if you wiped down the glossy inside, but they absorb liquid like any paper. They don't interfere with taste as they don't even have a smell to them. Overall, good product though. 5Keeps cheese fresh and good, stands up to much opening & re-wrapping Worlds better than plastic wrap, and still much better than the parchment paper/foil combo I was using. And while foodsaver bags are good for freezing or cheap hard cheese, they don't let the cheese breathe and kind of result in creepy softer cheeses.I've used these papers for roquefort, aged cheddar, romano, brie, all with good results. Use the stickers to label the cheese but not to seal the paper. Instead, wrap the cheese and secure it with a rubber band. This will let you open and close your package easily and to keep the paper tidy. This paper holds up very well through multiple openings and re-wrappings, something I would definitely not say for any of my previous wrapping attempts, from cling wrap to foil, to waxed paper, to food saver bags.These sheets are large enough for most hunks of cheese, even the big Costco chunks. 5This Paper Works - Keeps Your Cheese Fresh Longer We like cheese in this house - really good, expensive cheese. But there are only 2 of us so sometimes we don't get around to eating it before it goes "off". This paper actually does extend the life of your cheese. We can get at least an extra 2 weeks plus when we use this paper. It's worth the investment when you consider throwing away an expensive piece of cheese :(This is a 2-layer "paper". The inside is a plastic & the outside is kind of a waxy paper/parchment. You can cut the sheets in half if you have a smaller piece of cheese to store.These are manufactured in France. I have found these for less money in markets in Europe so if you are there, seek them out! Ask a cheese monger if he will sell it to you. It makes a really good souvenir. 5A great new product to save your cheese! First I have to say that I love cheese and I purchase a lot - some very expensive. I have tried various cheese "keepers" for storing cheese, tried many types of wraps and packages and except for my "antique" glass cheese keeper that requires the use of diluted vinegar in the bottom, I have not been happy with any.I came across this product a while back, in the catalog of a cheese retailer, and ordered a package to try because I hate losing even a small amount of an expensive cheese.It works! I used it to wrap some cheeses that are notorious for rapid hardening and/or molding (undesirable mold) and I was very pleased to find that this product works better, with less mess and less waste than anything else I have tried.I'm ordering more, so I won't run out and also have sent some to my daughter, also a fan of cheese. 5
