    Run the water through them for 48+ hours before drinking These don't come with instructions nor do they have any instructional information on the actual units. I had to look up a youtube video for how to install these. What no one tells you-in the reviews or youtube videos or even GEs actual product site- is that there will be water EVERYWHERE when you're taking out the old pieces and when you're testing out the new ones. Also, run your water for a couple of days through it. The first 48 hours after installing these the water was super bubbly with what I am telling myself was filter charcoal flakes (if it wasnt charcoal I dont want to know what it was but that's what it looked like). 4Not a replacement for FX12M! I experienced the same issue as Mr. Rob Guenther (3/12/17), although mine did not break because I could not even get the cap on far enough to begin tightening it. Not only is it longer, but the rubber seal is much bigger around. Definitely not an FX12M filter.Based on the number of good reviews, I can only surmise that this company is stocking mixture of parts, some fit and some do not.I'm really aggravated because I bought the set in Dec., but could not get around to installing until recently. I spend most of my time away from the home where my RO system is installed. So I guess I'm out $43... 1Do not buy - NOT AS GOOD AS OEM This filter is 1/4 as effective as the the original filter.(100 ppm of final product filtered water vs. 23ppm in OEM)Yes, it "fits" in the system, but it is a smaller RO filter and much less effective, and the carbon of the the coconut filters will show up in product water despite flushing) 2This is NOT - FX12M compatible filter. My System calls for a Reverse Osmosis Cartridge Replacement of a FX12M, The TFM-18 that comes in this kit is significantly smaller in diameter than the FX12M/TLC-24 RO cartridge that normally goes into the system and the black body seal is much larger the the housing the RO cartridge slips into. Not sure after finally getting the cartridge into the housing that it will have a proper water tight seal. 1Ecxellent but needs better description. I want to give a 5 and request that the seller makes a couple things clear in his kit: a simple piece of paper describing which of the 2 filters is the pre-filter and which is the post filter. They are not original brands and they are 2 different brands so you have to do the cross reference research yourself. The seller assumes that the buyer should know that. The seller should also mention that the RO membrane is smaller than the original. It fits perfectly but the membrane portion itself is smaller so I called him to make sure he had sent the right one. Let me repeat, it fits perfectly, it just looks different. All of these things caused me extra time so I'm giving a 4 star rating. Overall, the parts went in perfectly and I recommend this replacement kit. 4Five Stars This set DID NOT work as a replacement for my model GXRM10RBL. The proper replacement R/O filter is GE FX12M and this set has a GE TFM18 R/O filter which is sightly smaller for whatever reason. The pre and post carbon filters are not GE and low quality. I've changed out the filters on my system more than 10 times and have NEVER had an issue until installing this set. The pre filter was still putting out carbon particles a month into the install and the whole set of filters was thus contaminated which didn't matter for the R/O filter anyway because it didn't fit properly to begin with. Waste of time and money. I will only buy actual GE parts from now on. Beware. 1NOT FX12M compatible as advertised. This membrane was NOT compatible with the FX12M filter as advertised. It is too skinny and too long for the housing. It broken when I tried to tighten the housing case. Disappointed. The pre filters do fit however. 1WATER DOESN'T TASTE GOOD Filters fit nicely, no problem with installation. Has been in place for over a month now. But we don't like the flavor of water anymore. We won't be buying these again.. Will buy original next time. 2Beware, product does not do what it is supposed to! This product does not do what the product description states. I have changed out the original sets at least four times and have always been satisfied. These filters leave the water not tasting as well and it puts out a huge stream of water. The original made the water feel crisp. the water flow was more restricted. Not being a brain scientist tells me these are not filtering the water as much as the originals. It is a shame to have to spend so much time to remove and replace again. I will remove them today. CAUTION** 1The pre-filters were both genuine GE, the Membrane was ... The pre-filters were both genuine GE, the Membrane was a direct fit type. All fit perfectly, they have been installed for a couple of weeks now and my filtration system is working perfectly. I would definitely buy again when the filters are due for replacement again. 5
