Customer Reviews

Made in USA, High Quality, & Still Reasonably PricedFor many, many years I was loyal to the Trim band of nail clippers. My dad had told me that it was the only brand you could always trust to do the job well. Fast forward about 50 years, when I purchased a set that was NOT the quality I had grown to respect, and expect, from Trim. After more than a year of trying to find a suitable replacement, I have found the one that comes the closest to fulfilling that quest. My nails are quite sturdy and I simply cannot stand a clipper that bends the nail before cutting through it. Nor can I tolerate the jagged edge left behind. These have a blade sharp enough to do the job well and are sturdy enough that I am not worried about them coming apart under pressure. There are two features that I actually like better than the old reliable.1. It is designed in a way that the lever that closes the jaws of the clipper is securely in place while in use. It cannot spin around (rotate out of the optimal position) like the ones you must pivot the lever to open for use and spin it again to close & stow them.2. That design that prevents the lever from spinning has bonus feature: a working clipping catcher! Yes, I've had clippers that claimed to have a built in catcher but I never had much success with them actually doing so. More than half would still fly through the air when the familiar launching sound, a "click", was heard. Flipping the flap back for lowering the lever on the clippers to storage mode opens the receptacle for easy disposal of the contents. No more standing over the wastebasket shaking the clippers trying to get the shards of nail out.Now for the reason of 4 stars rather than 5. The actual cutting area is a little too curved making it difficult to impossible for me to clip a smooth edge that will not have to be filed. I do not want a straight blade like my toenail clippers though. A gentler curve would have made these perfect. With all of the great features, I am satisfied with working around this single flaw and would still recommend this clipper over all others I have used. I wish I had the option to rate 4.5 stars because that is what it truly deserves in my opinion. If you do decide to get these, they will arrive in a small zippered bag placed into a box. The box has some soft polyester fluff and a clear lid that is taped closed. I've tried to show all of this as well as the features in my attached photos. 4Great nail clipper; love it.This is probably the best overall nail clipper I ve ever bought and used. There s a lot of things that make it really good. First of all, the blade is sharp and doesn t take much effort to clip your nails; it s not THE sharpest nail clipper I ve owned (I have one from Seki that is sharper and cuts cleaner), but it s not dull, and you don t struggle with trying to make a clean cut. The area where your finger rests on the lever is also depressed and ribbed, so it makes it easier to grip and hold the clippers while cutting. Also, unlike traditional nail clippers, the lever doesn t flip, then swivel out to open when you want to clip nails, but instead, it s got a creative mechanism that involves opening up the lever, then locking in place the nail catcher before you can flip back the lever to cut your nails; I like it; makes it less likely the pivot point between the lever and the clipper will go wrong. Perhaps what I like the most is that this clipper has the best nail catcher I ve seen built in; most nail catchers are essentially just a plastic mold surrounding a traditional nail clipper; thus, there s a chance that your nail clippings can get stuck in the back of the nail clipper and not get out, and it also makes your overall nail clipper a lot thicker on the sides, making it harder to clip nails on the sides. With this clipper, the catcher is built into a small compartment just behind the clipper, and the release point is behind as well, so there s no chance your nail clippings get stuck anywhere when trying to empty the clipper. Finally, it s a nail clipper that s actually made in the USA (the lifetime warranty is a HUGE plus as well).Oh, and this clipper also works well for toenails. I knew it d work well for fingernails, but was unsure that it would work for toenails well until I tried it; the blade is sharp, but doesn t cause your nails to go flying all over the place when you make a cut; I would cut my non-big-toenail halfway, and then cut the rest of the way and remove the whole toenail from the clipper easily. As for your big toenail, just make several small cuts so that you can remove the entire nail in one piece. If there s a downside, it s that there s no nail file built in, but that s not really a big deal, since the cuts are fairly clean, and I use a separate metal file to finish my fingernails anyways. 5I thought there had to be a better way and I found it with these clippersI was sitting in my hotel room one day and needed to clip my nails. I positioned myself over the trash can and proceeded to clip away. Unfortunately, the clippings flew everywhere. I thought there had to be a better way and I found it with these clippers. I am pretty particular about my nail clippers and these things are great. They cut great and hold the clippings neat and tiddy. There is an intuitive metal flap that you re-position once you lift the main handle up. It creates a nice holding area for clippings and provides the pivot point for the handles. Once you are done, open the flap back up and discard the clippings. You do have to hold the clippers with the handle slightly down so the nails don't fall out of the shearing end. Other than that, these are a remarkable set of clippers that will capture at least 90% of your clippings. I recommend these to everyone. 5Extremely rough cut; Straight out of package metal finish appears wornI finally got to use these! (I had to wait until my nails were long enough to try them out).And.... I'm disappointed.I've been browsing for the longest time for a solution to my routine of "aim my nails into a box hoping nothing flies away -- get hit by stray (nail) bullets anyway". Although the no-mess mechanism is fine, the quality of the cutter itself is terrible. By terrible I mean, this is the worst cut I have ever gotten from a nail clipper... and I am the daughter of a nail salonist(?) who cut my nails with retired overused, dull clippers. The "No-mes" clippers cut down into your nail with relative ease. I notice I don't have to apply as much force as I do with other clippers to get it to cut. However, they don't cut cleanly. For some reason, they are splitting my nail layers leaving them looking like they're going to peel off at any second. I saw some people mentioning that this clipper cuts so cleanly you don't need a nail filer... I'm wondering if I got a different product than them, LOL.Furthermore, after cutting my nails, I noticed the nail clipper itself looked a little worn. The metal finish had stain marks on it.... almost like it had been owned by someone for half a year before being set to me.... maybe that's why they cut like .... poop?Pictures attached of my freshly cut nails before I file them. And the nail clipper that I received. 2UPDATED: These will change your life... until they won'tUPDATE: Originally I loved these, and while I recognize that it has been 2 years since I originally purchased these, I haven't used them in over a year because they quickly dulled and instead of cutting cleanly like they did originally, they tore my nails causing a rough and jagged "cut". The cheapo ones I bought at walmart to replace these are still going strong.---------------------------------I will never buy another brand of clippers again. It's something so simple, however this design is brilliant! The most annoying thing is trimming your nails and trying to hunt down all the clippings since cheap nail clippers fling your nails across the room... I don't know why I haven't purchased these before! I've recommended them to my friends and even though they're "just nail clippers" they all love them too 3This deserves a review. And it deserves 5 stars.I've only had it a couple days, and let me tell you...I love it. I let my nails grow out until I got these clippers; they were a reward to myself because I stopped chewing my nails. These nail clippers have a brillant, unique, SIMPLE, and rock-solid design.I didn't even look at the directions. I was confused for all of 30 seconds, but I fiddled with its foldable metal components & I instantly caught on to how it works. I was so impressed! What a thoughtful way to build a product. I encourage the rest of you to go into it blind, as possible. Just open the box & figure it out. You'll appreciate it so much more.I attacked my overgrown nails. I used the clippers to make many small, perfectly shaped nibbles to create the finished nail I wanted. The end result is good enough for me!! I do miss the little hook, file bit that comes with the cheap imported clippers, but I can buy another tool that fills that need. Such a small price to pay for these magnificent American made clippers! 5GREAT QUALITY NAIL CLIPPER, WITH A UNIQUE (and cool looking) DESIGN AND IT S MADE IN USA OMG - I didn t think I could be so excited or happy about a nail clipper, but after years of using cheapo clippers bought at the supermarket or drug store, I now know what a GREAT nail clipper truly is. Not only are these incredibly strong and very sharp, the design and mechanism is unique (at least unlike anything I ve ever come across). You can tell when using it that it was built with quality materials, a cool design, and with dedication. I can tell that it will last a long time. I m also able to cut my nails faster, since the sharp blades do not require going back to do much cleanup at the end.On top of everything else, it s made in the USA! I m actually surprised that a US manufacturer of nail clippers can survive in this age with (what I assume) are massive cargo ships carrying millions of the cheapo nail clippers that arrive in the US each year from China and elsewhere. But I m very glad that they are making these in the US (and I m sure the quality of the product is a big part of how they can compete again the cheapos). While I admit to buying imported products (based on price) more than I would like, it s definitely good to know that it s still possible to buy from a US manufacturer who is making quality goods (even for something as small and insignificant-sounding as a nail clipper). I will support this company how I can...I guess I need to see what else, if anything, they make that is consumer oriented (maybe a toenail clipper?) 5The best clippers I've ever ownedI got fed up with crappy clippers a while back, and I hit Amazon to pick up a premium pair. To hedge my bets, I ordered two: these, and the Tweezerman Deluxe Nail Clipper Set. I'm not going to lie: I'm a sucker for USA made stuff, and that's why I bought these. As much as I hate to admit it, I bought the Tweezerman set just in case these sucked because I trusted the brand, and I thought it was a surefire win.Long story short: These put the Tweezerman to SHAME, and that's not to say the Tweezerman are a bad clipper by any measure -- quite the contrary, if I had opened them before this No-Mes, clipper, they would have (briefly) been the best I'd ever used. But these, well, they're just amazing.I was beginning to think that I had nails made out of some x-men, superhuman supermaterial. I've seriously broken three pairs of clippers in the past year - two of them the 'hook' on the centerpost snapped off, and the third gave way at the bend for the cutting head. I've always had to crush my clippers with what seemed like an excessive amount of force, and in the end I'd be rewarded with a ragged, but shorter nail. No more- these cut like butter. I thought that maybe my nails were just a bit soft this time, so I tried my old set on the same nail, and it still needed tons of force. I also tried the Tweezerman clipper, and while it was extremely good, it still didn't quite match up to these - needed more force, and the cut just wasn't quite as perfect. So here's some pro's and con's for those of you that like such things:PROS:- They really do catch most clippings. Very nice- All metal construction, no cheap crappy plastic like simlar Chinese mess-free clippers- Extremely solid and NO CENTER POST! Seriously, I'm sick of snapping those. The lever in these has two pegs that mount firmly into holes on either side of the metal housing. I'm virtually certain that I will NEVER break these, even if I go rogue and use them on my toenails.- Sharp. As. Hell. These are seriously the sharpest trimmers I've ever owned, and either they're sharpening them with robots, of they've got some prideful people doing a good job with it. Either way, good work guys! They cut very easily and leave a nice clean edge behind.- Made in USA -- and while I'd call these crap if they were crap, I'm glad to say that I can be proud that these were made in my country- Rock solid alignment of the cutting edges - some of the cheap trimmers I've had leave something to be desired here, but these are perfect.Cons- No file ... not really sure if this is a con, because if they keep cutting like they do now, I wont need it- Can't put them in 'storage mode' (lever down) while the nail collection bin is closed. Basically you just have to find someplace to dump your trimmings before you can stow the lever. All in all, I love these, and even though at $12 they're the highest priced trimmer I've ever bought, they are also unquestionably the best. I personally feel that they are worth the cost, to the point that immediately after trying out my first pair I ordered as second (to replace the garbage 'Trim' brand clippers that I keep in my car).UPDATE: I have now had these and the Tweezermans for just over 4 months. The Tweezerman clippers are already starting to dull out & destroy my nails, but the No-Mes clippers are still great. I use both pairs about the same amount, however, I'm going to retire the Tweezermans - yes, Tweezerman will sharpen them for free, but the No-Mes clippers are still sharp without the hassle of having to get them sharpened. Whether or not you need the nail capturing feature, the real reason to buy these is that the cutting edge is bulletproof. Better than any clippers I've ever owned.UPDATE (after about a year and a half): I've now lost both pairs of No-Mes clippers that I originally bought, but they easily made it through a year without getting bad. I'm now going to buy pair #3. I have seen several reviews that give these a low rating because they're too narrow for toes -- this is true, if you're looking fore a toe-nail clipper these are probably not for you. The width of the cutting head is restricted by the sides that have been added to help capture clippings. Since I don't use them for my toes, I still love these and strongly recommend them. 5easy and quick tool but these just made it more ...not sure if it's just me but i cannot get a gauge of how far / into the nail i'm cutting because of how these are designed. I've went too far and hurt myself more than a few times and other times I didn't get a proper length cut and had to finish the job with 99 cent clippers. For $15 nail clippers I was expecting a no fuss, easy and quick tool but these just made it more time consuming and difficult. Completely unsatisfied. 1Nail cutters designed and made by professional metal cuttersGreat design! The pictures don't show how it works well: when you lift up the lever, there's solid steel panel that flips forwards and serves both as a cover for the clipping catch area and as the surface what the lever presses down on to close the jaws. The cutting edges are sharp, thinner that others that I've seen and align perfectly. The cut requires little effort and is very clean. The method of clipping retention is also very good and does not interfere with grip, operation, or cutting, unlike other clippers it is integral to the design and not a tacked-on after thought. The only way that the clippings can fall out is if you hold the clippers tip-down with the jaws open. The compartment should easily hold 2 hands worth of clippings and can be easily completely emptied and cleaned. The design in terms of both function and utilitarian simplicity and durability is the best that I've seen. The craftsmanship and materials seem very good as well. I think that their function-driven form give then an aesthetic appeal as well. I was so impressed by these clippers that I looked up the company that made them and once I did, the thought that went into their designed and the skill, care and pride that went into their manufacture made sense.
