Customer Reviews

80674B Works for Hamilton Beach 46201 This works for my coffeemaker - Hamilton Beach 12-Cup Digital Coffee Maker, Stainless Steel (46201).I don't know if all the vendors include a second lid but mine came with 1 base, 1 extender, 2 filter lids and 2 filters. The original lid was too short so I opened the door of the extender and inserted the longer lid and it fit my coffeemaker just fine. 5Suddenly.......I thought I was in "Coffee Paradise"! About three weeks after I purchased a Hamilton Beach 12 cup coffeemaker (see my review), I wondered why they did not include this filter option, and the $12.99 cost for the filter holder (with two different size handles along with 2 filters. The manufacturer states that one of these filters will last a total of "60 Cycles". A Cycle they define as the complete filling of the water container which holds enough water for 12 cups of coffee. In my case, I never fill it more than 6 cups. The bottom line, is it worth the money? I have been drinking coffee for over 50 years--- I love coffee everything! However, I do not enjoy a bitter cup of coffee. I prefer a robust blend. The first time I used this filter I was most elated! It seemed as if was I as transported to "Coffee Paradise" (smile). I mean I was a smooth taste, never bitter, even when I brewed a strong setting. Bottom line? I am very happy I paid the extra money---despite what some other reviewers have stated. That being said, the only caveat is that I believe I Hamilton-Beach should have included this filter with their coffeemaker (which I really enjoy more than any Mr Coffee machine I've had). If you can afford it---I would definitely advise the reader it is worth the money! 5H B has a lot of work to do with this accessory I am a die hard BrewStation customer, we are on our 4th. This time I thought I would try using the filter. It never occurred to me to check reviews on such a simple addition. Big mistake. The reviews I just read to try to figure out where I went wrong in installation were right on. Just snap the filter into the hole is totally wrong. My hand is adult small, and even if I found a child to put it in with their little hand, there is nothing that creates a tight relationship between the filter apparatus and the reservoir once you find a way to aim the filter in and push down.I am throwing both the filter and the spare in the trash. 1Not Universal I own a Hamilton Beach 48464 model coffee maker. The filter barely fits the slot for it, doesn't go all the way down so water will pass thru the bottom of it and not filter everything completely. This is not universal at all and is probably only designed for specific models. Must hold this in place when pouring water in because it will become dislodged just by water running over top of it. Would be better off buying a Brita water pitcher and using that water for coffee instead of using these filters. 2Not worth the blood and aggravation! I read all the bad reviews but was interested to check this product out anyway. I bought them to use with the Hamilton Beach 12-Cup Coffee Maker (49467) that I recently purchased. Well, everything bad that I read about these filters and the design of their use is true. The filters themselves don't stay in their little basket, they float up. That's even after soaking them the recommended amount of time and after several pots of coffee. The little basket they are supposed to fit in in nearly impossible to insert at the bottom of the reservoir for this model, and the tools that came with the filters are all but useless. Also, no instructions came with them. The reservoir is so narrow that in trying to insert the plastic basket by hand, I scraped the back of my hand several times. Not worth the blood and aggravation! Also, yes the basket does not sit tight in the hole where it goes, so water passes around the basket instead of through the filter. Basic hydraulics indicate that water will flow in the direction of least resistance, so most of the water probably doesn't even go through the filter. The design could have been so much better. 1NEVER AGAIN, THEY DID NOT FIT HAMILTON BEACH BREW MASTER THIS DOES NOT FIT ANY OF THE HAMILTON BEACH COFFEE MAKERS. TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE TO BRING BACK.I WISH THEY WOULD CHECK THESE BEFORE SENDING THEM OUT. NO WAY DOES THIS FIT THE BREW MASTER. AMAZON PRIME TOLD ME NOT TO SEND THIS BACK. IF I FIND SOMEONE WHO IS HANDICAPPED THAT IT FITS, IT IS GONE.I AM A ADVOCATE FOR THE HANDICAPPED.MQM 1Coffee tastes better with filtered water! I figured since we have a water filter on our refrigerator, which makes our water taste better, and I didn't want to use cold water from the refrigerator dispenser to make coffee, that it would be a good idea to add this little water filter to our new coffeemaker. I found immediately that the coffee tasted much better. It's inexpensive, and a replacement filter pack doesn't cost much either, so unless you have great water it's well worth it. I'm really glad I decided to get it! 5A design flaw? I purchased a Hamilton Beach model 46201 coffee maker. The Use and Care Manual recommends use of this water filter product, which consists of a two-piece plastic handle/holder and a replaceable filter element that is about the size and shape of a large acorn. Once I purchased this filter and installed it, however, it was obvious that this product was either poorly designed, or it was not designed to fit this particular coffee maker. The filter element itself ends up sitting suspended by the holder well above the water reservoir outlet (by about 3/8"), so that the out-flowing water goes around it and under it, not through it. I'm no engineer, but I can't see how it filters much of anything. A bogus product and a waste of money, in my view. 1Here's my trick to making it work....it's upside down.... I think! This design is a good example of what they call a brain fart. The way directions are shown installation, it's upside down both for classical filtration designs, and simply has giant gaps, letting unfiltered water go by. So here's the trick I used to make it work; Leave off the filter cage, and use only the push stick with the concavity on the end of it, and push the filter in UPSIDE DOWN as opposed to the instructions, so the rounded end is facing up as you look at it from the top of the water container. You'll have to hold the water container upside down so the filter doesn't fall out of the push stick's concavity. The filter's lip should ideally lock into that groove at the bottom of the filter holder base of the water container. I actually machined a thin cylinder out of PVC to more uniformly push it down into the container filter base. But filters like this should have the largest surface area exposed to the unfiltered water, and the filter's conical side has much more surface area than the flat portion. It's gotta be a design mistake, or wrong filter but the coffee machine is great, and I can either deal with the filter design flaw, or pre-filter water before using it to make coffee. 2Zero Stars I would give this 0 stars if I could. The fault is Hamilton Beach's: this does not work in the 46205 coffee maker. It is difficult to fit in, and once installed, it sits above the drain allowing the water to exit without going through the filter.Bad and ineffective design. In other brand coffee makers the water is directed through the filter. The filter packets would work as well if you just threw them in the water container and let them float around. 1
