Customer Reviews

Just did my first Hayward 60 ft DE Filter Grid replacementThis went much better and easier than I thought it would. No more DE in the pool. Tips:Take several photos of the old grid top and bottom to ensure you have a guide for how to reassemble the grid. Essentially, the grid spirals out from the center, and the part of the filter curve that resembles the base of a bird's wing - the short more sharply curved section - always goes toward the center. Also make sure you pay attention to how you align the bottom of the assembly to the short filter - it is clearly marked "short filter" on top on the manifold, but the bottom is not marked. You need to be sure that the bottom assembly is cradling all the filters properly and not leaving any of the outward spirals unsupported at the bottom. IT is fairly self-evident - you just need to remember to check it.Also use lock jaw pliers to help hold the central steel rod in place while applying the nuts and the top and bottom. 5Excellent replacement grid set at a reasonable price pointThese grids are of very high quality and fit perfectly in my Hayward DE pool filter. They are an exact match to the original grids. They are much cheaper and convenient to acquire thru Amazon than at our local pool supply store. I highly recommend them. 5Perfect fit - excellent quality - finally a POOL pump/filter part that is not over pricedThese filter elements worked perfectly on my Hayward DE6020 filter. very well made. Easy to assemble - TIP: assemble upside down. Carefully slide each filter element into one of the holes in the top. There is one short piece - it's designed to be used next to the LARGE fitting on the top.Total assemble time start to finish approximately 30 min. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN the assembly nut.added PICS 5Buyers BewareBuyers Beware. This is devious product advertisement. Notice how they start off with Hayward when in reality it should say Replacement for Hayward. Two totally different things. Also why isnt the actual brand advertised. I personally prefer direct fit and genuine products and not after market stuff. 1They look like they'll be okayThey look like they'll be okay. We replaced them in our Hayward MIcroClear 6000 DE filter no problem. We haven't been able to actually open and run the equipment for the pool yet due to all the rain here in Md. but hopefully these will give us a few years of use. I had called a pool repair man and he claimed he couldn't purchase these kinds of grids for my filter for under $400 a set. I told him the price on Amazon he said he was shocked, not sure I believe him. He never showed up for our appointment to change them. But if you take one out at a time starting with the short one and replace each one as you go anyone can do it. We were pleasantly surprised. You need yours replaced you can do it too. Watch YouTube " How to replace grids on a Hayward microclear vertical grid DE filter or something like that and there's great easy as pie demos. Good luck. I'll update this at end of season let you know how these held up. 5Fits Pentair FNS-60 ...All goodGood product.Fits Pentair FNS-60.As good as OEM grids, so far.I use/have great success with cellulose fiber (easier, better on environment). Grids work with DE or cellulose fiber material.Fairly easy do-it-yourself replacement when you get the layout/fitting template. Pentair 98725800 Filter Template makes assembly MUCH easier! 5Work great and a few install tips. These are not Hayward brand but when I was comparing prices the local pool store said this brand was all they use because they are the best ones. They fit fine. It's hard to compare to the originals because mine were 7 years old and not in very good shape. After putting them in the pump runs great and the pressure is back down to normal. After a few hours of filtering the pool looks great. Some advice on install. I've disassembled my filter before and I still forgot a few points. First, there is only one small grid. All the others are the same size. The manifold on the top should say were the small one goes. Take notice of where the baseplate is positioned. The gap in the baseplate lines up with the manifold drop tube on the top. Just take a look before you take it apart so you can see how the top and bottom line up. Also note how the grids sit in the baseplate and how they line up with the little tabs. This is very important, assemble the grids upside down. That means put the manifold on a flat soft surface upside down and put the grids on it first then drop the baseplate straight down on top. You will never get the manifold on right side up.It's a good idea to replace the o-ring at the manifold if you haven't done that in a while and I also ordered a new nut that holds the manifold to the baseplate rod. Those corrode and should be replaced, especially in a salt pool. Overall pretty easy. Just take your time and look before you leap! 5Perfect fit and easy to installHayward DE6020. Fits perfectly. I found the easiest way to install these wast to pull the whole filter assembly out of the tank. First, I removed the old damaged grids (no sense in trying to lift a bundle of filthy, wet grids all at once). Then, I remove the upper and lower manifolds. I carefully removed the new grids out of the box and cut the box down one corner so that I could spread it out on the ground for a clean work surface. Then I assembled it upside down, i.e. top manifold upside down on the cardboard. Fit all the grids in the holes on the manifold, then carefully place the bottom manifold on it while threading the long bolt through the top manifold hole. Aligned all the grids properly so they are all straight and not touching. Then I tipped the hole thing sideways at an angle while holding it and placed the washer and nut on the long bolt. For mine, I needed a pair of channel locks (pliers) and one 1/2 open end wrench to tighten the nut on the long bolt. Since the assembly is light weight (because it s not wet), I was easily able to pick up the whole thing, flip it over, and place it into the filter tank. Putting the filter grid assembly together probably took about 10 minutes. Besides the acts of opening the filter, then later filling the bottom 1/2 with water and securing the top back on, it didn t take long to do this whole job.The water return jets in the pool are blasting out water at high pressure again, the filter pressure is low again, and the water is crystal clear. The materials and construction seemed identical to the Hayward grids these replaced (at about 1/2 the price at the time of this writing).Totally worth the money! I d definitely buy again. 5Yes, they're Pleatco brand, but so whatFrom previous reviews, I anticipated that these would be Pleatco brand filters, but anyone who's had a pool for a long time knows that Pleatco and Unicel are the primary secondary market filters. And both make a decent filter, so I had no issues with the product title.Product arrived timely and packaged as would be expected. All filters were in perfect shape and fit neatly in place.Local pool supply stores around here charge anywhere from $250-$300 for a complete set (and yes, they would also be either Pleatco or Unicel brand), so once again Amazon saved me a lot of money. 5Great Value Easy InstallPurchased a Hayward Pro-Grid & Micro Clear 60 Sq Ft DE Pool Filter Replacement Grid Set due to DE leaking into my pool. I was a little un-sure just how hard this project might go but the price was right. Installation went as advertised and easier than I thought. Just as a reminder after removing the grid pack, install the grid pack upside down (seems easiest) like setting on the patio with the one smaller grid inserted first into the frame. Buy the two "O-rings" (one for the standpipe and one for the large filter case). You don't want to re-due your work or wait till you order comes. Then use some Magic Lube. Great Product. 5
