Not a true 13 gallon bag-Smaller sized bagIf I could give No Stars I would. I bought blackout because I prefer these to the white bags but these do not fit my Simple Human 13 gallon size trash can. It should not say 13 gallon bags when they are smaller than the 13 gallon Hefty White Bags (I measured because I thought I lost my mind that white fits but black doesn't). Not only do they not fit the can (half moon shape plastic can) but they rip when garbage is placed half way. The whole bag has ripples unlike the white bags so maybe it is a design flaw. I did purchase the Black bags in the past but they didn't have the ripples. So disappointing! 1If the scent bothers you...read thisThe Hefty black bag is a perfect fit in my Simplehuman Size N can.I am very sensitive to scents, especially gross perfumy ones. Some of the reviewers said the bags had a baking soda odor.Not mine. The bags smell like cheap perfume. After looking at the paucity of 13 gal black bags available on Amazon, I remembered I had a bottle of JR Watkins natural room freshener, aloe and green tea; I gave the can a couple of squirts and now that disgusting scent is no longer apparent. I definitely consider these bags to be good enough, although somewhat thin, but the black makes a world of difference compared to the white. My can is rose gold with black trim, and I know, it's just a trash can, but oh does it look good! So, a couple squirts of something more pleasant (at least for me) did the trick! 4Buy Costco Brand InsteadAs a mom with limited time, I just need a bag that won't rip when I have 30 seconds to scuttle the trash together and out to the bin.Every.Single.Bag.Ripped!We are using a can nearly identical to that on the box, correct size and all, and without fail the seams have busted just as soon as I loop the bag securely over the top of the can. This is before they even have garbage in them, so totally new bags. What's more, the handles are breaking, too! I don't know what happened when they manufactured these bags but the seams and handles are rubbish.The only redeeming quality for this bag (hence the 2nd star) is that the body of the bag has thankfully stretched, not torn on the bottom...well, yet. I will not buy these again. Costco bags are much more reliable, scented or not! 2Not 13 gallon.These are not 13 gallon.I have a 13 gallon trash can and I've been using 13 gallon trash bags in it for years.These are more like 10 gallon.And they tear when putting around the top of the trash bin.Here's a pic. The white bag is normal. The black bag is these. It's much smaller and tears easily. 1I would not recommend these bags to anyone for any reasonHefty seems to have decided to replace their old scented arm and hammer bags with these. They don't even compare to the old ones. I've only used 3 of the 80 bags so far and every one of them has gotten multiple holes in them with the slightest touch. 1st bag got two holes just putting it on the trash can. 2nd one i was very careful putting on the can. it got holes when i took it off the can. 3rd one i was careful putting it on and off, but when i went to take the bag outside not only did it get a hole, the built in string broke with very limited effort trying to tie it closed. I've still got 77 of these and i'm looking forward to the day when they're done so i can try a different brand. Hopefully these don't cause any major accidents in the near future before they're all gone. I would not recommend these bags to anyone for any reason. 1What happened to my favorite trash bag?Hefty what did you do to your bags? This used to be my favorite brand of trash bag but this new design is awful. It is not flexible and the opening is smaller. I've had two bags rip on me and there was barely anything in them! No one likes cat litter all over the floor! 1Recently purchased box is vastly inferior to what I have experienced with this product in the past.I have used this brand of bags for awhile, but this most recent box I purchased through Amazon is of exceptionally poor quality. Liquid seeps slowly out of the bottom of the bags, even though they have no visible holes. I am about halfway through a box of 80ct bags, and have had this issue with nearly all of the bags on this roll. I recently switched to the second roll from this box, which appears to have the same issue.In addition to the seepage issue, these bags also puncture very easily now - an issue that I don't recall having with previous boxes. Just in the process of lifting the bag from my trash can, I have punctured several bags with my fingernails, which are trimmed barely beyond the tips of my fingers and are regularly filed and cared for. I'm hoping that this is reflective of a quality issue they had with a specific run of product, rather than a design or materials change that is causing these issues that should be expected from this point forward in their manufacture line. 1Tear apart when you simply open.Terrible. Theses bags used to be good but now they are total garbage and can t even be used for garbage. The corners tear right down the seems when you simply try to open the bag. This has happen with the last few boxes. Do not buy, they must be knockoffs, Hefty should be ashamed. I am so pissed off I am actually returning garbage bags. This is a different product. It's not just a different number of items. It's not a "newer version" as Amazon puts it. This is a different product. The size of the bags is different. And no, I am not talking about thickness of the bag as the the Hefty rep here keeps saying. I am talking about the size of the top of the bag that you need to fit around the top of your bin. This bag is smaller and no longer fits around the top of the bin without almost breaking the bag. So I have now cancelled my subscription and will not use Hefty bags again. 1The worst bags I have ever used!!!This was my first time using these bags and they are the absolute worst! My 11 year old son usually takes out the trash so we are always sure to not overfill the bags. He started telling us that the top of the bags would rip as he was taking the trash out. I thought maybe he was pulling the drawstring too tight until I took the trash out myself one day. The bags would begin ripping from the top every single time. This is a large box and we were already past the return date so we continued to use them and just decided we would never buy these again. Well this past week my husband took the trash out instead of my son and on his way out the entire bag split open from the bottom. There was trash and food everywhere on my CARPETED steps!!! Now I have to get my carpet cleaned! It was very frustrating to have to clean this up. Thank goodness my son wasn't the one taking the trash out this time. I emailed the company to let them know of the poor quality of their product and of course no reply! I'm holding on to the remainder of the bags in case they ever do contact me for more info but I will not use these again. DO NOT BUY!!! 1
